What's the community like for DoD: Source ? For £1.50 I might be tempted to give it a go, even if it ends up just sitting in the Steam games list :hmm:

Likewise. I've been tempted to give this a go but at £1.50 it's worth a punt. I see at least one person on my friends list plays it regularly.

Red Orchestra violently knocks it into a cocked hat you philistine!

That's pretty hardcore though isn't it in terms of realism ? Nothing against that, DoD seems to be more arcadey so to speak whilst keeping with the realism a bit more than other games.

They're both pretty similar in terms of being 'one hit usually kills you' type games. RO has more realism-centred stuff but is also quite forgiving in that it has frequent respawns and everyone dies a lot, however much you've played the game.

DOD Source is a bit more arcadey and generally more fast-paced (due to the teensy tiny maps, if nothing else) but RO definitely comes across as its bigger, better brother.

Ah right ok. I really shouldn't have looked on the store, Red Orchestra's going for £3.49 and with DoD being at £1.49 that would be less than £5 for both. I really should try and avoid the Steam store for a while! :hmm: Never realised it was Tripwire who did Red Orchestra, after playing the wonderful Killing Floor I'm certainly tempted.

Bought DoD last night and played it solid for 2 hours, really fun game though I was getting reemed constantly. Managed to get some nice kills though and had a good time regardless. With Team Fortress 2, DoD and Killing Floor I've been having a great time on my PC recently. Might actually get round to trying my other PC games too :D

Does DOD:S require HL2 to be installed? I started to install DOD:S and it started at 70%. Either Steam is playing up again or I have something already installed.

I think the source engine is shared between some of the source based games, so if you already have one of the "family" installed, it just downloads the stuff it needs on top.
