Marky Mark should make his own spy franchise about a boy from the wrong side of New York the Bronx or New Jersey or wherever he is from getting head hunted from the CIA impersonating a pop star while doing spy misssions on his musical world adventures

Unfortunately he's currently exclusively contracted to playing Tintin.

That will never get old. Good ol' Leg' :(

And I've got to say, I agree with Bastion - Idris'd be an amazing Bond.

:(:D :D :D:P

I was about to say Arnold Schwarzenegger but on second thought, man... That would be amazing, wouldn't it?

He already did Bond with Cameron remember?

Judi Dench would be fucking killer. She'd have to have a parkour chase and some double fisted pistol action

Shooter needs a sequel at least. You just don't kill a man's dog... again. :(

John Barrowman.

I always thought Ralph Fiennes would have made a great Bond. Or Peter Dinklage.

Don't laugh- he did test for Bond, if I remember it was at the time when Brosnan was thinking about "quitting", but then came back for Die Another Day. However, thankfully, Barrowman has since said he probably won't get it- as he's now come out of the closet.

I always thought that Dougray Scott would have made an excellent Bond. He was technically offered the role, again for Die Another Day, but Brosnan decided to come back. Although it's one of the worst Bond films, if it had been another actor playing him it could have set up a nice "trilogy" of more action orientated movies.

Anyway, Sam Worthington or that guy from the Tudors (not the gay boy in the lead) will probably be the next one- seeing as they were both finalists against Daniel Craig (but both were considered too young at the time).

Jesus don't ever say that to his face, he's from Massachusetts. And they fucking hate New Yorkers... :(

The best Bond was Australian, so who cares?

I wouldn't say he was the best Bond, but he was certainly in one of the best Bond films.

Anyway...

Catherine Zeta Jones

Remember when the papers said they were going to have a female Bond? Jane Bond or some shit like that.

Cubby Broccoli hated Lazenby. That's another of the reasons why he wasn't asked back for a second Bond film (obviously along with OHMSS under performing). As soon as he was Bond, he became a major prima-Madonna and a massive pain in the arse. In his book, Desmond Llewellyn told a story - the cast and crew were extremely down and pissed off with Lazenby's attitude. Broccoli threw an impromptu party, gave someone a couple of hundred quid and sent them out for food and booze etc. Once things got into the swing they noticed Lazenby sitting in the corner sulking. When they asked what was up he said because he was James Bond, the star of the picture, he should have gotten a written invitation to said party, so wouldn't be taking part.

Later he recalled a quote that - that Lazenby said he was the star of the picture, to which Cubby replied 'you're in the picture, yes, but the public decide if you're a star or not"

Did Lazenby not also "quit" before OHMS was released- deciding that he was going to be a much bigger star than the Bond films, which were "old hat" by the end of the 60s?

He could have been quite good, if they had continued with him, but there were too many reasons why he woulcn't/couldn't continue. Still, there could have been some real blunders if United Artists had got their way- Burt Reynolds as James Bond!?!?!? At least it would have made for an interesting "gag reel" over the closing credits.

Might be going a bit off-topic, but does anyone else see a worringly similar situation to Dalton's era of Bond? First film is generally well accepted, does quite well in the box office. Second film, released a couple of years later, doesn't do quite so well- generally considered by most critics to be not as good as the first one. Third film gets delayed by a year, legal/financial problems come up.... let's hope that they don't end up in the same 5 year legal limbo like then. I could see Craig, same as Dalton, walking away from it if it gets too bogged down with legal shite.

As I understand it, and I think Roger Moore mentions it in his book, Lazenby was advised by his then manager to not sign a three-picture Bond deal because he'd end up getting typcecast by the end of it. Not sure if it was 1 + 3 or whether OHMSS was 1 and he'd do two others. Either way, he didn't sign up for it and was promptly not really heard from again since. He told Moore at some kind of Bond reunion in 2005 that he regretted it and he should has taken the deal.

Indeed -

The position was consolidated when Lazenby accidentally punched a professional wrestler, who was acting as stunt coordinator, in the face, impressing Broccoli with his ability to display aggression. As a result, he was offered a contract for seven movies, but was convinced by his agent Ronan O'Rahilly that the secret agent would be archaic in the liberated 1970s and left the series in 1969.

Interestingly, when Connery quit, Dalton was amongst the front runners to replace him but ruled himself out, saying he was too young to take the part on. Moore had also been considered too but he was stuck in contract on The Saint.
