January is over, I tried really hard to not impulse-buy. I'm bidding on some retro hardware on eBay which might make February's total high, if I don't get sniped again.

January:

Mass Effect (PC) - £3.25 (via the Steam sale)

Bejewlled Twist (PC) - £5.25 (via the Steam sale)

FUEL (PC) - £2.99 (yep, the Steam sale again)

Bayonetta Climax Edition (360) - £39.99 (pre-ordered in December)

Qwak (PC) - £2.50 (pay what you want)

Burnout Dominator (PS2) - £7

Psychonauts (PC) - £1 (damn you, Steam!)

Dark Void (360) - £0 (birthday present from qazimod)

Assassin's Creed II (360)- £0 (birthday present from Valeska)

Retro Gamer 72 (mag) - £4.99

Februay:

January total: £65.98

February total: £0

GRAND TOTAL: £65.98

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune £15.02 (completed)

Everybody's Golf: World Tour £7.98

Trials HD

Braid

360 (mag) £2.89

Said 360 mag is running a 3 issues for £1 offer, so now I'm up to: £47.29.

February is going to be a tough month to resist spending, but have a few old titles I'm aiming to complete first - Dead Space, Mass Effect, Ghost Recon 1, Modern Warfare 1 and a few others. That lot should keep me going until Easter. Hopefully be then the price of Q1's outstanding titles will have dropped a little.

Update!

January

Mario Kart Wii - £34.99 (I know I could have saved a tenner online, but it was an urgent purchase for a family gathering)

Halo 3 ODST - £18.99

Total £69.98

I buckled; it was there as I walked past the stacks of Toffifee, packs of 18 leaky AA batteries and a surprising selection of Sinatra and Elvis DVDs.

This thread is a good idea, as I can remind myself of how much I've spent before thinking about buying more. Much as I want to buy ME2 and Bioshock 2, I'm going to hold off until I've at least completed Bayonetta and Bionic Commando (er, and played the first Bioshock). And when I say "completed", I mean getting 1000Gs on all three.

I think that's the only way I'm going to curb my buying habit as I've already got a stockpile of games to play from last year, including the Fallout 3 DLC, Borderlands and Tekken 6.

Surprised it was nearly £50 - espcially when I've got the Bioshock LE this month coming that will take it over a ton spent.

Really makes me wanna spend alot less on stuff that I've not got time to enjoy!

I've also ordered God of War Collection from VG+ but I'm not sure when my CC was charged. I'll update when I know.

I was like a kid in a sweet shop today. "Ooh! New month, I can spend on games!" But thinking of the thread made me cautious not to splash on anything that wouldn't have been worth it. There's surprisingly little to buy when impulse buying is factored out :)

I'm concerned that even though I thought I was being pretty good not spending any money on games this year, I managed to pay for Batman:AA (that sodding Trading folder needs to be shut down) taking my spend so far up to £60.99.

FFS.

Didn't think I was going to buy anything now til Heavy Rain but the prices of Ratchet and Clank and Valkyria Chronicles were too good to pass up. Still only completed Crackdown, about 4/5 through Darksiders. Not touched any of the others yet and am imposing a strict rule of one game at a time. I know what happens if I try to play even 2 story based games at a time; I don't really enjoy either.
