According to Kotaku it's Monster Hunter Frontier for Xbox 360. A 3 year old PC game. Great.

I quite fancy some online monster hunter though going by how much I love Demon Souls. Any monster hunter fans know if that PC version is any good? I know you can get and play it online on PSP and the coming wii version, but I don't fancy either for comfort or playing with friends

I somehow highly doubt it will get brought over here to be honest, Monster Hunter is hardly big here in the west, it's one thing translating the games but a full MMO and the resources that would require? I doubt it.

The capcom unity post even says only some on the news (i.e the Lost Planet 2 etc stuff) would be of interest to western audiences.

Of course it'll come here- it's published by Capcom- they release pretty much everything here. The western market is a bigger deal to them than most.

Wow... just, wow. How does Phantasy Star Universe fair on the 360 these days? I thought it was universally known that subscription-based services on the 360 piss people off, not make them jump for joy at the announcement of a game (of which there is a more up to date version on the PSP).

Service will begin this summer. Xbox LIVE Gold members will need to pay ¥1,400 ($15) a month after getting the game

I thought it would be like the PSP/Wii version- I see where David was coming from now, I had no idea it was a proper MMO with a sub. DO NOT WANT

Everyone on Rllmuk was playing it has quit. I think we all had fun phoning up to cancel our subscriptions, as was the norm for online services five years ago!

Which was my response. I'd love a 360 Monster Hunter, as I don't play my PSP and don't own a Wii, and Xbox Live would be perfect for it. But no. No, we get an old game and a fucking subscription. Fuck you, Capcom. Right in the arse.

Yeah- would have been happy with a HD upscaled version of the wii game

I think whoever negociated the deal at MS was taken for a fucking ride by Capcom :D

Ah, subscription fail. And i always wanted to get into this after playing a small bit of the ps2 version in single player.. still I may play it for a month or two; it's bound to come with a gametime card in the box.

I knew they'd pull this trick. I mean, FFXI is still supported on 360, and it'll soon be the only platform to play Phantasy Star Universe, once the PS2 and PC servers go down at the end of March.

Add the several aborted attempts to introduce MMO's to the 360 userbase, and I guess it's reasonable to assume there's a lot of money to be made from the model.

The reveal trailer:

Edit:

Actually there is no need to be a Gold member.

The last bullet point clearly says that as Silver Members, buying and registering a Hunter Live Course will upgrade your membership to Gold Member. The bottom source says that a 30 day Hunter Live Cource plus a 30 day Gold Membership will go together as a bundle for 1400 yen.

This is a VERY good move on Microsoft's part (I suspect) in essentially giving free Gold Membership to people who may buy a 360 just for MHF and hook them on Xbox Live. I guess this is where the "collabration" part comes in.

Ok I'll probably get it - but I won't be happy about it! (See sig.)

But... but... but... I wanted a new Gargoyle's Quest....

FFS, three 'new' Monster Hunters within a year? Don't get me wrong, I really like the game, but this is ridiculous.

Well hopefully we'll see a PS3/360 port of the one coming to the Wii :D

Yes, if anything I'm more interested in Tri than this regurgitation.
