It looks like an early PS2 game! Capcom can't even be bothered to polish it up a bit, the biggest surprise in that trailer is that it actually says 360 at the end there

Not quite what I'd expect an X-type announcement to mean, this ain't even an actually new game, obviously not enough 000s on the cheque. But you can pretend to be Marcus and Dom while playing Lost Planet 2 on the X360 version.

New Strider LOL indeed, you do realise it'd be CapcomLOL if they ever were stupid enough to throw more money at something as niche as Strider, even the home port of Strider 2 died a horrible death when it was released on the PlayStation in Japan, I read of much nashing of teeth in GameFan about it's bomba status.

If anyone's a fan of the original Strider, you should check out Cannon Dancer (Osman), a game created by the designer of Strider after he left Capcom, it's currently emulated in MAME and is generally considered to be a better sequel to Strider than Capcom's own Strider 2 (which is not the licensed one above either).

Totally - despite the fact that, later on, it COMPLETELY gives up trying, and throws the worst level design ever at you.

I heard Strider was being started but was cancelled after Bionic Commando spectacularly bombed. Probably complete rubbish mind…

If these new entries in ancient but fondly remembered old school game series keep on failing so badly at retail, then you'd expect game publishers to get the message and stop bothering to throw money at them. Conversely, if people start lapping them up, even the most niche series is likely to make a comeback.

It seems Microsoft have been doing some wheeling and dealing in Japan lately, odd time to be making another push in the region:

This ad features features the Xbox Mission Department getting a new department. The bandaged department chief and injured Sanrokumaru are willing to risk limbs to get big name game titles. The department chief asks if the new department member has any questions, and he asks who Sanrokumaru is. Sanrokumaru, that's who!

In each of the subsequent ads, it seems as though the businessmen will be going out and wrangling big name titles for the Xbox 360. There is a teaser for the next Xbox 360 title, which is has been censored as "XXXX". What could it be?
