Transformers the movie (the original)

Hound didn't die per se (he makes a fleeting appearance stood behind Prime just before he confronts the Decepticons) but he doesn't make any appearance post-movie so probably did snuff it off screen.

All these years I've been mourning Hound, and he might not even be dead? I can't dare to hope.

He was cool for the five minutes he was Rodimus Prime. Then when the series started with him as leader you discover he is just a whiney pussy that likes to talk to Optimus Prime's statue.

He had two cool moments, the whole bit at the start when Dare kicks in, and then when he becomes Rodimus Prime.

But he's still a dick for getting in the way during the Megatron/Optimus fight ;)

To Smoothy:

The one with Hot Rod holding the Matrix?

I did have it as a kid. I've still got The Transformers Universe Encyclopaedia which was one of my most cherished possessions as a kid.

Yeah, that was the rubbish pic on the front. If I remember and find it, I might scan the cover.

I had some of the toys, of course. Soundwave was clearly the best one and my one came with Laserbeak. Next was Ultra Magnus, although it was strange that the cab part was simply a unpainted Optimus Prime (still, at least I could say I had Optimus too!). And my last one was Runabout (the Knight Rider car one).

I always wanted Soundwave but had to make do with Blaster which was not a good substitute at all. I did have plenty of Combiners though (Superion, Piranacon, Bruticus, Devastator, Menasor and I was one figure away from making Defensor too). Never managed to get any Predacons though. ;)

In the Dreamwave Gen 1 series, they retconned it so that Ultra Magnus was Optimus's brother, and the blue/red stuff was armour.

The Predacons were rarer than rocking horse shit. I still want them.

When I got older and we moved houses, Soundwave disappeared (I think my dad threw him out during the move, not impressed). Anyway, a few years ago my sister got a Japanese imported Soundwave model so happy again!

Man, I miss that. I had to replace with Dreamwave's attempt a few years back. It's pretty good though.

Although the film did confuse me as a kid as it made me think 'innocent' meant you were culpable of wrongdoing for ages.

Yeah, that confused the fuck out of me until I re-watched it in my late teens.

Copies were great. I had a Shockwave copy that was almost indistinguishable from the original, and a mate of mine got some near-flawless Constructicon copies from the market for, like, £5.

Edit: heh, this exact copy from Tandy in actual fact!

Really fucking worried then. Missus got me Shockwave for Christmas! I've checked though, and he's an original. :(

The one on the left, obviously.

I even had the other one too. God knows how much TF tat I accumulated as a kid.

I had both of those.

Also had the ladybird (i think?) transformers the movie book, which came with a tape that you listened to at the same time as reading the book. With its random snippetts from the film, and "turn the page" shenanigans.

I've still got the official marvel handbook to the transformers universe book. Its just profiles of all the characters from the transformers up to and including the movie characters...but the marvel versions as oppossed to the cartoon version.

I still read it every now and again.

The year before last, I was in spain and found a set of constructicon knock offs for 10 euro's. I had to buy them....

This is probably my most watched film of all time, I can still sit down and watch it even though I could act a part in it. I actually had a conversation about how good it was on friday night while out for a few. It's very grim in how it deals with the culling of the cast which you don't see in anything other than a WW2 film and the Optimus vs Megatron fight is EXACTLY how Bay should have done it. Optimus completely fucking wastes them and then Megatron goes to shoot him but pulls it back and he's like no, we'll just fucking have it out old school. I am seriously blinkered about how good this film is, it would be my desert island disc. 87 Minutes of Awesomeness.
