Portal 2 announced.

Singleplayer.

Co-op.

It has single, and multiplayer co-op modes.

The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a new cast characters, fresh puzzle elements, and a larger set of “devious test chambers”. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, “the occasionally murderous computer companion” who guided you through the original game.

The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

CONFIRMATION!!!

Why aren't you pre-ordering right now?

I saw the update on STEAM today and wondered WTF it was about...

Updates to Portal have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted.

Portal

Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations

Didn't the 2 who created Narbacular Drop and then went to Valve to do Portal leave Valve tho?

More than two people created Narbacular Drop. Kim Swift has left Valve but a load of the original team are still with them.

If you follow the credit links through from here, http://www.mobygames.com/game/narbacular-drop you'll see most worked on Left 4 Dead 2.

I wouldn't mind seeing Valve re-release TF2 on XBLA/PSN, the version on The Orange Box was a huge missed opportunity.

I think Valve said something to that effect, about releasing an XBLA version once they'd finished the update cycle. I don't know if they're still planning to do it, mind.

Well, L4D2 has been out for a while now, Valve won't have been sitting on their asses since then.

Totally pumped for whatever comes next.

I hear from reliable sources that they've been working on L4D3 ever since, which will in all likelihood feature the portal gun this time. Rumoured release date is Christmas 2010, after which they'll decide whether they want to start developing Episode 3 or rather focus on L4D3 DLC for a couple of years. Totally pumped!

Also I doubt this viral stuff'll have anything to do with Episode 3, since they're separate products. There'll be no lumping together boxes and stuff.

At the end of episode 3 don't they hint at them heading to the Borealis?

Kinda indicates that they will be lumping them together.

I absolutely AR love stuff like this. Wish I'd been awake as it was unfolding.

-Portal gets surprise update yesterday afternoon

-People see new mystery achievement

-People play and see the radio in the beginning room now has a green light

-Carry it around and notice it makes strange broadcast interference noises in certain places

-Locate and place all 26 of these mystery radios for achievement

-Smart people yank wav files out of game content folders and run them through steganography programs

-Produces 26 weird cryptic image files in a numbered sequence

-Some dude runs the number string through an md5 hash translator and gets a landline number

-Internet traces it to Kirkland, WA (near Valve HQ)

-People find out its not a phone/fax line but a data line hosting a BBS and telnet it

-Use a clue from one of the files to figure out the BBS user/password login info

-End up with a bunch of weird ASCII artwork
