bradigor
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/04/pure-fut...y-from-ubisoft/ If there's one thing we could use more of in the first half of 2010, it's more Euro-centric soccer games. It's convenient for us then that Ubisoft today announced Pure Futbol coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC this May. As you can see in the trailer above, the game looks to take soccer from the stadium to the local park, while at the same time keeping the professional players and losing referees for (as far as we can tell) a more arcade-style sports game feel.Pure Futbol's announcement release corroborates our take on the trailer with a tagline that reads, "No referees, no rules – just soccer." It also further details your choice of footers, elaborating that "230 elite soccer players, 17 international teams, and 17 legendary players" are included, though you can also sculpt your own star from bits and polygons, if you so choose, which can then be shared/traded with friends online. Will we finally be able to live out the dream of playing as a team full of Ezio Auditore lookalikes engaged in fierce battle with a team full of Prince of Persia lookalikes? For now, all we can do is hope. Will be interested in how this turns out. Having another option on the market, no matter how arcady, can only help drive competition. They could produce ideas that Fifa or Pro Evo could take. Or it could even turn out to be the fun middle ground game that The Bigs ended up being. bradigor
The trailer looked bad. Red Card taking itself seriously. To be fair it was a pure CGI trailer. I am actually just grateful to have another title on the market. I miss the days where there were tons of options.
SMD
I know but the feeling I got from it was "oh dear". There should be more options but considering how difficult it is now to be taken seriously without licences, I don't see anyone coming in out of the blue. Sega Worldwide Soccer should make a comeback.
Preacher
I'd really like a football game without the trappings of real-life this-and-that. It doesn't look like Pure Futbol is what I'm after exactly, but it's kind of a step in the right direction. I suppose something along the lines of NHL 3 on 3 would suit me. What is that indoor game that is popular in Europe? Name escapes me, but that could be a decent thing to base it on, then they wouldn't really need the licences to make it. Fry Crayola
I'll have to echo Bradigor here - more options is good. We've basically just got PES and FIFA at the moment, nobody else wants to try anything. Two generations ago, it seemed every publisher in existence had a football game on its books. The only problem is, there's very little room to break into the Champions League of football titles. PES and FIFA have the market sewn up, and the only reason there's two of those is brand loyalty. So perhaps offering something different, and doing it well, is the route to go. PES and FIFA at the minute feel like the same game in different stages of development, with PES being the early beta to FIFA's gold release. They've got the same control scheme, same focus, and essentially the same options. If someone were to come in and offer a new experience, a game that plays differently but brilliantly, they might be on to something, and have room to expand that idea further. Fry Crayola
A decent indoor game... What is that indoor game that is popular in Europe? The only indoor football game I can think of is Futsal. Unless you're thinking of Masters Football. Which would be ace. Futsal would be good too. Not least because we'd get a playable football game with a Telford player in it. EA could nab the arenas from NHL to save time

SMD
I'd play that again. It's aged horribly. The commentary is just as funny as ever. "THAT MUST BE A SPOT KICK! Nice close dribbling."

bradigor
What happened to you? Don't get me wrong... Amazing footballer, just don't like 'him'. (never have really) Also I just can't get into football much anymore. It is depressing watching the arse fall out of the sport I once loved. Pupponvesh 2
More proper football games is a good thing. The 2 we have at the moment are pretty drab and too bloated with crap. As a sidenote. did anyone ever import/play Football Kingdom? It's a Namco game, released back in 2004 on PS2 and I think 360 a few years later. Here's a video It's looks pretty nice, if a little too much like PES.

I've seen lots of videos of that floating around but never played it. It's (not that) amazing to see that the animations on it are still far beyond what PES can do. As for the Ubisoft game, I'm willing to give it a go. I seem to remember enjoying one of the Fifa Street games on Xbox despite the awful reviews. It looks nice and the animations are better than PES but there's something off that I can't quite put my finger on. Something to do with the ball, I reckon. Still, I'd give that a go but I don't enjoy any of the Red Card/FIFA Street stuff.

gone fishin
You know what we need? A modern version of Footballer of the Year!!! Play through the career of a single footballer, starting off as a youth player, make your way up the leagues, play international football- but also get all the additional things that happen to footballers, like having to deal with page three stunnas, crashing your car, speeding from paparazzi etc- have all that affect your playing abilities. Nice. And you only control one player on the pitch... you. I want that, not a shitty update of Fifa Street!!!

El Pibe
I really do miss the days when we had options - Dino Dini's, Sensible, Kick-Off, and FIFA to name a just a few. Back on the old home computers there were bloody tonnes of them. Match Day II and Emlyn Hughes
b00dles
Benito's avatar aside and not wanting to sound like a Jon Hare alt but I'd genuinely pay good money for a proper SWOS update. Not in 3D but everything up to date and more management stuff and the same sort of control but MOAR somehow. In fact, surely these days, they could make a game that combined original SWOS and I dunno Champ Man circa 2000 or so as one big happy Player Manager type thing? Now that would be some amazing gaming crack if they ever did...

It was very similar to PES, actually better in some areas but not quite up there. Still better than anything else on the market if I remember rightly. Also, Konami were peaking with Winning Eleven 7: Final Evolution so the timing wasn't great.
