Fifa lads and their jobs/what do you do

I'm 28. When I'm not losing horribly to people in FIFA, I'm a software engineer for some company or other. And when I'm not doing that, it's cos they've got me doing other boring work. Whilst at home, I work on TCFG, or whatever the hell I decide to call it in the end.

I'm Richard, 33. I'm a structural- and civil engineer and a cunning linguist. I'm single, and enjoying it.

Hobbies are: playing guitar and listening to music, gaming and sports (cycling, speedskating).

I'm also managing a rather awesome Dutch rock band.

As the new forum name gives away, I'm Dan. I'll be 23 next month and this thread is making me feel quite old right about now.

I'm a student at Sheffield Hallam doing the final part of my Software Development (for games) course.

Re: work, I guess the only notable thing I've done (other than boring retail/student jobs over the years) is temping at Sumo Digital for 4 months one summer a while ago. It was quite nice actually because I was there when the PS3 dev kits arrived so I got to play about on them for around a year before they were in the shops. I tried to warn everyone that the triggers were shite but no one listened.

Regarding hobbies, there's too much stuff I want to do... I'm currently training for a private pilot license and looking forward to the weather improving so I can get some more hours in. I watch Sheffield Wednesday [attempt to fail to] play football every other week. I love travelling around, seeing different people/places etc. I play the guitar a bit, and 5-a-side footie now and then when I get the chance. I'd love to get more into skiing or snowboarding at some point but no one else I know is really interested in it, which is annoying. I've been getting into astronomy a bit recently and would love to get a decent telescope at some point. Oh and a bit randomly, I've recently started thinking about starting to learn how to skate, and then playing ice hockey, even though I don't have a clue about the rules of the game just yet. Ah, and I ride my mountain bike out on the trails in the countryside when I get the chance, which is easily the most fun way of keeping fit.

I said there was too much stuff I wanted to do.

This summer it's looking like I might be going over to the USA to do some volunteer work for one of their summer camps that all the kids go to. I say volunteer work, but they do pay you just over what you'll probably need to cover your costs. The nice bit about it is that I'd get 30 days at the end of it on my visa to be able to go around travelling America, woo!

It's good banter on a night out between the two uni's. I think Sean said he's coming to study here in September too.

How many are there of us up here, and where abouts do you guys go out in Sheffield?

Rocafella i smell some sort of gathering in Sheffield?

*cough*

Free hugs from Mitchell come as standard.

excellent stuff :quote: alot of mixed ages

Thanks for the 'Harbey's 40 in four days' thread Baring - you know how old I am and you're just enjoying the public humiliation this is putting me through aren't you?

Anyway, being the grandaddy of the league, you should know my real name is actually Harvey, not Harbey, unless you have a slight speech impediment. I live in the seaside town of Scarborough, with Mrs Harbey and the two mini Harbeys. The boys keep me pretty active, allowing me to be the embarrassing dad by joining in with the BMXing and skateboarding (old school stylee). I also do a bit of surfing, which is pretty popular here. I'm quiet a creative soul too and turn out the odd painting. Lot's of my time is also spent doing up old houses, which we tend to get looking nice and then get bored of and move.

Work wise, I'm a Headteacher at a local junior school which I enjoy as I get lots of opportunity to be creative and play sports with the kids. It's been a career change for me as I used to be in IT but couldn't cope with the office mentality.

Am I now the official oldest person in the league? I'm sure Scratch is about 50 but he's not posted yet.

I thought I was the oldest Premiership player for a minute there but then I remembered Manic. Good old Manic. His reactions are far further down the road to ruin than mine. Not sure on Supes, he must be really old judging on his league position.

I miss the wise old heads of Saint and Greavsie (Milly).

Forgot to add that my hobbies are mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu jitsu (lapsed in recent times), Aberdeen Football Club (shit for years), bongs, beer and boobies.

Also have two little monsters at home who sometimes invade the pitch during my FIFA matches and a large cat called Homer who they ride like a pony.

Good to hear that I'm not the oldest in the League, the wife was convinced that I was playing against a load of kids :quote:

Happy Birthday, Steely!!

I'm 30, researcher for a big national charity. I mainly do numbers/stats stuff and 'impact' research. It's a cool job, get to travel around a fair bit in the UK. I started working for this charity straight out of uni....8 years ago....

Live with my girlfriend, and we are in the middle of looking for a house (hoping to buy in the next few months). Between saving for a deposit and looking at houses almost every weekend this year it feels like I don't do anything else right now...But I love American TV (re-watching my favourite at the moment: Homicide Life on the Street). Occassionally I go fishing (that's about as sporty as it gets these days!) Oh, and bowling! I spend most of my gaming time on the iPhone now, which isn't very sociable.

Biggest surprise so far from this thread was finding out how young Ricky is! I honestly though he was like 35....

Excellent, now Harbey's posted, I can join in. I am 39, live in Bracknell (although the wife always says Binfield in the same way people the other side of Bracknell claim South Ascot). I have two kids and am a Director (I know, I can't believe it either) for a company that provides mobile data solutions to mobile operators. I travel a fair bit with work which is cool and hobbies are 5-a-side football, photography and squash (does anyone under 35 play squash?).

Let me join in now whilst the oldies are declaring their ages. Yes I am the ripe old age of 36.

I am a Project Manager for a High Street Fashion Group which means I get to work with lots of young ladies and office parties are always a treat. Currently working on establishing Topshop in the US.

Married this year (lovely Honeymoon in the rain forests of Costa Rica - climbed a few waterfalls Baer Grylls did whilst there), managed to wrestle a murderer on my wedding day who then proceeded to go on the run, other than that nothing interesting has happened in the last couple of years.

I gave up squash at the age of 35 and I live by Hampton Court down south like by the River Thames.

Squash is all the rage at uni. Andy, what Wedding Present record would you recommend someone (i.e. me) who likes Bizarro get next?

Are we in a time warp - do the Wedding Present still exist? They were a student band when I was at college and that was when we lived in black and white.

Alright fellas!

I'm 30 and live in 'that London' with my girlfriend. I work as a Film Editor and I specialise in making comedy films and shows for the telly. If you're wondering: yes, you've probably seen at least one thing I've made. :quote:

My hobbies are films (what a surprise), poker, Xbox, football and snowboarding. I'm a massive Millwall supporter on account of me being a filthy cockney. It's actually a great time to follow them, we've won 8 out of our last 10 games and have conceded the grand total of 5 league goals this year. We're right in the play-off mix and have a huge game against fellow play-off hopefuls and long-time rivals Charlton this Saturday.

Off to Banff in Canada for some snow related fun in ten days - I'm getting a bit excited to be honest.

Blimey, I live in Hammersmith... Actually, that's a little too close for comfort. You're going to pop round and give me a rape now, aren't you?

Lol - I am impressed you have a clue where I am. Being A London lad I didn't have a clue about the South West parts till I moved there 6 years ago.

I used to be a football steward at both Milwall and Charlton when I lived in Plumstead for a while. Shit pay and shit football put pay to that though.

If you knew about overland trains Pants you would realise there ain't no popping anywhere - except the street dance class I teach to war orphaned children on Wednesdays and Fridays at the Town Hall that I have been doing for 4 years but I don't like to talk about that ;-)
