Not sure if anyone has seen shopto starbuys but I just received a copy of Dante Inferno and it was unsealed didn't expect this from them. However, I should of taken notice of the people at neogaf who have said that their service has gone down the drain in many ways. You'd expect this from play.com with their mispicks but not shopto what shoddy service sending out returns! ;)

I'd love to hear all the bad ways they've gone downhill as i've ordered from them for 3 years now and apart from the credit card breach (which was fucking shit i grant you), they've been quality.

Best average first day price, best average second hand price, and i always get my new games on a Thursday.

But honestly, from what i've had, they've been very good.

Same here (as Dimahoo) The guys are great and unlike other retailers seem to be continually trying to offer a better service. I've placed 85 orders with them in the past 12 months and every single one has arrived before launch day in perfect condition.

From what I gather, the problem is when things go wrong that is when they are no good. I'm sure loads of people have ordered from various sites and have been lucky in that they have received their orders and nothing peculiar has happeneed, but you should judge a store by how it acts when something goes wrong not when everything is fine becuase that is when customer service comes into play and that I fear is where people are saying that Shopto is failing. Not just in neogaf but on ntsc-uk too. I'm not the only one but I'm glad there are satisfied customers out there, just would be nice to be one of them.

Doesn't feel right giving a gift that is unsealed especially when it is a videogame would'nt do it with anything else!

As a counterbalance to the above post: I made a massive fuck-up recently, ordering Mass Effect 2 from ShopTo without having updated my address details after moving hundreds of miles away. I tried contacting the new owners but had no luck and called ShopTo more out of desperation than expectation, fully anticipating a response in the region of "tough luck" due to the fault clearly lying solely with me. On the contrary, the guy told me if I filled out a form and got it off to him he'd send me a replacement straight away. Seriously impressed.

I had pre-ordered Bioshock 2 with the Little Sister figure. It came in a jiffy bag and while the figure was in great nick, the sealed game itself was bent out of shape. I emailed them and attached photographs of what the game look like. They were obliging and asked me to send it back, and that they would refund me the post which they duly did and sent me a replacement game that was sealed, in Amazon style packaging this time round.

Well, it has not been moved to discussion yet so here goes another post!

Shopto service is excellent. I've made about 30 orders and all good. Only one problem I had was when a Wii game arrived and the box was slightly damaged at the bottom. Phoned Shopto and they sent me a replacement box in the post and credited my account with £2. Can't say fairer than that. Plus they will credit you £3 if your pre-order fails to arrive on release date and you only have to wait 3 working days to get a replacement if a game does not arrive in the post.

Can't think of any other online retailer who offers this service and best online retailer I've ever used for games bar none.

Well I called shopto and was told that EA sent them that way. Sorry but I don't believe that every other place I've seen them they are sealed but shopto get them unsealed yeah right! What a load of rubbish to try and offload returned software. If the game is unsealed then they should say so in the description (as they do in the Amazon resellers) and not cause hassle to some of their customers. After I spoke to the chap I'm more in-line with the views over at neogaf and ntsc-uk of their poor customer service. If others want to shop their it's their choice but they won't be having my custom or recommendation anymore.

I can't even imagine why you would care if it had been returned unless it was damaged. This country.

I only just found out last week they now offer unsigned delivery, which is tremendous as their previous insistence on recorded had put me off buying too much in the past despite them seemingly having totally sweet deals all the time.

Count me in the "fail to see the problem" camp.

They've explained why it's not sealed - end of story

As for shopto going downhill I call bullshit on that too, they been consistently superb it both on price and service. Pre-orders always arrive before release day. The one time I had something from them go missing - they sent me a replacement copy. No fuss.

Some shop have shrink wrap machines to seal / security tag their software. Personally I've never had a problem with shopto, and the only time I'd be complaining if the game was unsealed would be if it looked scratched / manual was dogeared etc.

They've always been fast, reliable and reasonably priced. Sorry but I'm another who fails to see a problem here. Try going to Asda where the games / manuals are in a drawer and usually scratched to fuck by some warehouse guy who doesn't give a fuck how he handles them.

If I remember rightly ShopTo.net is actually a censored phrase on NeoGAF, due to allegations about credit card fraud.

I don't think I've used them much, but the last game I received from them arrived less than a day after I ordered it. Considering it was bought at a decent price, with free shipping, and paid for through PayPal, I really don't see a down side here.

It reminds me of a customer when I worked at GS. He'd bring a second-hand game to the counter before asking:

"Has anyone touched it?"

"Umm...it's a pre-owned game, sir."

"I know, but has anyone touched it?"

"How do you mean?"

"TOUCHED IT! YOU KNOW! TOUCHED IT!"

"...you mean, sexually?"

"I've had ENOUGH of this already! I'm never coming in here again!" (or words to that effect).

I still don't know what he meant by "touched it" to this day. Anyway, we used to get loads of new games in unsealed - saved us the bother of having to unwrap them, which was nice. I'll never understand the mentality of people who insist on games being shrinkwrapped, or blowing a gasket when they're not - concerning yourself with its state of undress borders on some kind of weird fetish, I'm sure.

I mean, what if I were to tell you that shops routinely return unsold games to distributors? And that there's virtually nothing stopping them rewrapping games and sending them elsewhere? That considered, you've probably received more returns than you realise.

But now it's not NEW SEALED R@RE.

His grandkids will never be able to take his handed down sealed copy of Dantes Inferno to Antiques Roadshow 2060.

"Well Sir back in 2010 this 'video gaming disk device' was promoted as being wonderful interactive interpretation of 'The Divine Comedy'.. unfortunately, when it was released, players soon discovered it was shi..."

"Yes, yes, but how much is it worth? I'm sure Grandad (god bless his soul) didn't keep all those sealed boxes in his residential home for no reason! How many credits do I get for this baby?!"

"Unfortunately sir... it is worth nothing. Sadly the game is widely available via your i-box as part of the (ahem) 'XBOX EA 200 GAME MEGAPACK"... It seems your Grandfather might have been better off actually playing the game himself..."

"Wow, Grandad sure was an idiot! Let's take all this unopened shit to the incinerator!"

"Yes Sir, a wise idea"

"Yep!"
