Only a sample of one but I found Resonant Rise and Yogscast Complete perform best on my pc (I5 with 3gb ram assigned to MC)... The FTB Monster it struggles more with. This was a test of opening a new world on each and having a run around with FPS displayed.

Could be my setup obviously. Or it could be that two of them run on ATLauncher and 1 runs of FTB launcher and my PC may prefer AT Launcher.

First things first. You'll need to make sure you have the latest Java.

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

If you have 64bit windows get the 64bit one etc.

Next up you'll need to download the Launcher for the modpack. If you have never played modded minecraft before, or used ATLauncher, don't worry. It's pretty easy.

http://www.atlauncher.com/downloads/

Download that, and you'll need to log into it with your minecraft profile.

the big buttons on the left, click on packs. look for Yogscast Complete and press "New Instance" make sure you install version 2.9.3.1 as that's what the server will be running.

It'll pop up with a box to selet which mods to install, make sure you are TICKING the following Optionals (untick everything else)

Advanced Genetics

Ex Aliquo

Ex Nihilo

ICBM

Mobius Core

Mystcraft

Not Enough Codecs

Resonant Induction (and all its extras, so Archaic, atomic, electrical and mechanical)

Inventory Tweaks

Map Writer

Mouse Tweaks

You can either choose MapWriter Voxelmap / Rei's Minimap - it's up to you.

BE CAREFUL! When you do the next step, one or two mods MIGHT pop up a browser window and go through an adfly link to download them(probably wont though but just incase), dont just close things and run away in terror, if this does happen (and as i have my pack already downloaded and have been testing that many of them i cant be sure of wether this pack does or not) let me know and if you're having trouble, i'll upload what it needs - else ignore this part!

With just those ticked, it'll start downloading the pack.

Once everything is downloaded, you can find the Instance you've just downloaded in the Instances list on the right of the screen. and hit play. The Console window will scroll through its launch list (there'll be errors in there but dont worry about them) . THIS DOES TAKE A LONG TIME, IT HASNT CRASHED!
Once you're at the game screen, just head to multiplayer and i'll pm you the server address.

My kids have been playing the demo of this for ages, yesterday i was asked to go and look at my little ones world and she had made a bloody roller coaster - i have no idea what this game is other than the 5 mins i gave it back in the day so was a bit blown away by what they have done!!

Is the only way to buy it on Mac via the store i got the demo from, is there a family pack option?

How do the console versions stack up and is there any cross play between them at all?

Finally, if i get the full version does it upgrade the demo and she can keep the world she has started or do you start again?

Sorry for the silly questions, i wrote this off years ago but the kids are utterly minecraft mad!!!

i didn't know there was a demo.

Although i know a lot about Minecraft, 99% of my knowledge is regarding the modding scene on the PC/Mac version. i have no idea whats going on with the Console version, or even the latest 2 releases on PC. (all the major mod packs are still 2 main patches behind)

I would assume that upgrading from the demo version would allow you to transfer the world files across, but you'll have to do some research. I do not think theres cross platform play between Computer & Consoles,

Sorry i can't be of much use.

No cross platform play as far as I'm aware, although if you've got the 360 or PS3 version they'll let you buy the equivolent next gen version at a very low price (so if I've got the PS3 version I can get the PS4 version for £4ish but if I had the 360 version I could only upgrade cheaply to the bone version). The PS3 version is going to be fully crossbuy with the Vita version so if you buy it on PS3 you'll have it available for free when the Vita version is released. They're also letting you trasfer your maps to the next gen version but again, only if you stick with the same manufacturer. The Next gen versions allow substatially larger maps to build on than the previous gen console versions do. There's no word on whether you'll be able to transfer any maps to Vita.

The console version is excellent if you want to play a local co-op game with other people without the irritation of gathering multiple laptops and setting up a server. As me and the kids play a lot on PS3 I'm very tempted by the larger play spaces, discount and map transfer for PS4 when I eventually get one.

You can't transfer a save/world from PS4 back to Vita or PS3. You can however transfer your world over from PS3 (or Vita) to PS4, but it's a one way ticket. Any progress you make from there on in on PS4 will not be saved on PS3 or Viita. Phew!

The game runs beautifully on PS4 with a stable frame rate, greater draw distance and larger worlds. The option to transfer saves from PS3 hasn't been implemented yet, frustratingly.

Still no word on Vita MC.

I just turned the gfx down on little ones computer, from fancy to fast!!! Made quite a bit of difference, fancy tho....

The 'demo' is the full game as i understand with a time limit, the kids worked out how to keep going or something - i can't see any options other than buying from the site direct so will just pick up 2 copies.

I bought the PS4 Minecraft earlier today. Now my arse is numb from playing so much. First thing I did once I spawned (After punching trees to make basic tools) was dig into the nearest mountain and start creating my underground safety nest. Over the course of today this has expanded and now has multiple mine workings and three entrances.

I have a snow biome off in one direction and a desert biome in the other. The last few hours have been spend creating Outpost Dry Crotch in the desert area. Heavily fortified (Currently constructing an underground escape tunnel). I plan to expand tomorrow over to cover the outdoor pool I managed to make. Nearby I have dug into a mountain and down so I don't have to go back to the first base for rock. I plan to build small outposts as I explore so I always have someplace safe to hunker down.

I'd forgotten just how satisfying it feels creating things in this game.

Couple of questions. My outer walls are the rock fences. Is there any way of putting decent gates on them? At the moment I'm using the shitty little wooden ones that look terrible.

What's the best way to round up a bunch of sheep and pen them in so I have a ready supply of wool?

Sounds great! The sheep thing, use wheat to lead them to a pen, you only need 2 then breed them out. I have about 15 which is enough to give me a couple of stacks of wool in not too much time. I'm now dying them a different colour each night to harvest different shades, to give me enough to build little games and things for my kids to play on...

So you just hold out the wheat and they follow?

Time to make a pen and start a farm. Where do I get wheat seeds from? I could look all this up on a wiki I know.

I think if you make a hoe and use it on the long grass you see it sometimes gives you wheat seeds. Other veggies I found in villages. Cows and sheep like wheat, and yeah when you hold it they'll follow you (you have to also jump and and down and say "here sheepy sheepy sheepy" irl at the same time). Pigs like carrots, chickens like wheat seeds. Each of the food types will also put them in "love mode" if you feed them, and 2 together in love mode = new little baby animal.

Right, this mod pack has tiny fps for me (1-4fps) so giving it up.

My house on the hill in the ocean has a decent strip mine started underneath, and chests of goodies. Including diamonds, if Nicky hasn't beaten you all. Feel free to raid.
