I don't know what I'm doing at all, played it for less than an hour so far, but it's nice what you guys have done. Particularly the first time I realised how much stuff was going on underground was a bit of an :o moment. I haven't worked out where the cathedral is yet, which is weird because it looks so crazy massive.

It's pretty crazy massive. If you walk straight forward from the spawn point (reachable by typing /home into the chat box) it should come into view. Alternatively, like 20 steps from the spawn to the right is a tunnel with a sign saying 'coming soon- bruce manor station'. Walk down that and you'll go through the catacombs underneath the cathedral to the Grand Central station; if you walk out the front door of that you'll be right there.

Alex is that your own singleplayer map?

Yeah, I'm getting into Alpha pretty strongly.

That vertical shaft turns out to be the entrance to a vast cave system. I've barely scratched the surface, but I've already found a waterfall. Said junction was also hoaching with mobs, but fortunately a creeper blew up and all the other monsters washed away down into the uncharted depths. A skelly archer scared me away but I already had enough ore at that point to build myself a full set of iron armour and a sword.

Oh, hey guys, protip, it turns out that wearing iron armour doesn't turn you into fucking Robocop. I found myself at the brink of a huge dark cavern where I got metaphorically fucked in the ass by mobs, and naturally it was pretty much impossible for me to recover my gear after I died. I'm now down around 100 torches, 20 ladders, 4 loaves, half a dozen picks, some pork, some shovels, several swords, and a full suit of iron armour. I've walled up the cave in question and I don't think I'll be making that mistake again. As luck would have it, there's gold ore behind a waterfall nearby, and I now have a devious plot to use the waterfall to flush the monsters to the back of the cave while I set up torches.

After I make more iron armour, and a bow.

Hmm too bad. Well here's a pic of Hotel De Muk (under construction) taken from Paul's place.

Road* leading up to Hotel De Muk. *Thanks be to Paul for making that.

Inside the open entrance.

View from behind.

It's going to be epic as I'll build apartments for folks who're in desperate need of a place to stay and I'll have a beach and all sorts of other cool things as well. Stay tuned.

Quick question as my current efforts are failing. Anyone got any tips for growing the 'worlds biggest tree' so that I can build myself a treehouse?

I think trees stop growing at a certain point; the way to do it would be to build a tree out of wood and leaves.

Is the cathedral actually finished yet? It's so large at this point that it's hard to tell!

I don't think it is, I think there's just a bit of roof to finish off.

Tried that but you can't actually pick up/drop leaves in Single Player, unless I'm missing something.

My current plan involves single blocks of dirt on top of trunks with fresh tree's growing out of them, but its a bit...odd.

Ah, true. Sounds like the best plan tbh. You can always then remove the dirt and stick some wood there later.

Where can I get the mukville map to plug into Alpha? I want to try building a train track to see if any major redesigns need to happen, and cba to actually mine stuff, so I thought I'd stick a load of tracks and carts into chests and then try and build, for example, the /home line in alpha.
