Yeah i'm still up for getting one of these. Bigger hard drive will do me well (i'm on 60gb for the moment as i didn't get involved with the Elite came out) and the internal wifi will be a god send. Sounds stupid but my xbox travels with me a lot and it'll be good to have access to my live account without asking if i can plug in a fucking long cable.

That and the fact that it's not so fucking loud, i think it'll be worth the £150 i'll be paying for it after selling my old unit.

I'm still undecided, on the one hand I want a PAL machine that has plenty of hard disk space and the built in wifi will mean I don't have to faff about, but on the other hand if it's chucking out heat like no one's business then not sure it's a good idea until I've got a specific place for it.

:)

No 250GB hard drive in existence has 250GB of storage.

I know and I was about to ask as why they take up so much space for themselves. Why not advertise them as 225 instead of 250 if you're not getting that anyway. Why not make the HDD itself bigger say like, 265Gb? Then the customer would have around 250Gbs of unvandalized data.

Because nobody else tells the truth about 1000 vs 1024 - so why will they?

I'm guessing it's easier and cheaper to make hard drives of certain sizes.

there's probably a physical limitation on the platter capacity dependant on form factor?
