Welcome team!

Squad

SaintM - Hannibal. A master plan in human form. The plan was dumped, the cigar remains.

Pompey88 - Faceman. Nice hair and as tall as the Empire State Building

themomentbefore - Murdoch. Dances to his own rhythm.

The Outsider - erm.. BA. He loves gold chains and hates flying.

Hereticboy - Victor Meldrew. God he likes a moan. Moan, moan, moan..

Vincenzo - The V2 missile of the team.

Scratchy - The SCUD missile of the team.

Razzle - Disco Stu, is pleased to meet you.

Sith - The Chumpmiester General.

Chris - Pompey's brother. He's called Chris.

Practice times

Regular practice: Tuesdays @ 10pm

Pre-game practice: Thursdays @ 9pm

Although it's not essential, it'd be good to have these times each week set aside for those that can attend. If we can get some opponents then all the better.

Glad to have you all on board.

I'm very pleased with how the auction went. Sith for 1m was a bargain (so long as we keep him away from controversy!) and Razzle + Chris were great deals and bolster an already strong squad.

As a fluid, passing side, I think we're gonna do well with the Mexicans. They are fast, crisp and have strength where needed.

We've got a few midfielders in the squad, so we'll be working on the positions over the next week or so.

As I've outlined previously, we'll be using the website picker to decide the squads, so I'll be in touch about how that'll work in practice. No spots are decided as yet, so have a think about where you think you'll do the team and yourself most credit, as well as where you'll gain most enjoyment.

I'm slightly worried about this website picker. You're the Manager Mike, make the decisions!

In my experiance rotation doesn't work well, set positions allow people to improve each week. I understand some people would fancy a change though.

Fair enough. That's a pretty global view, so we'll go with the norm.

Here are my thoughts on the lineup, based on what I've seen (or not seen) so far:

LB - themomentbefore

CB - Hereticboy

CB - SaintM

RB - Scratch

LM - Razzle

CDM - Sith

RM - Chris303

CAM - The Outsider

AT - Vincezo

AT - Pompey

It's only fair that all the defenders who give me half a season at the back will have the option to move further up pitch for the second half of the season it they want to take it.

Obviously the lineup may change after the cup games on Thursday, if it's clear that changes are needed.

If you really don't fancy going back to CB for the first half of the season, I'm sure Razzle would be happy to swap with you.

You've been CB for most of your BAP career, so I'll not begrudge you wanting a change.

Edit - I thought we were having flexibility in the team selection, and not just 'half-and-half'? Beat in mind I haven't actually read your PMs properly yet ;).

Give it a go in the Cup on Thursday, and if you don't fancy it after then I'll change things around.

Until I've seen people play in the other positions, it's just a first stab at things. The only two positions/names I'm certain about are Pompey in AT and Outsider in CAM (because I've seen that they are good in those positions and competition isn't rife).

The two options were either (i) stick with my initial plan of using the site to decide lineups, which will mean the squad is changed around a fair old bit, or (ii) I'll pick what I think it right and although I'm open to changing things, it'll only be if I think it's best for the team. Most responses were that it's better to have consistency.

That lineup was my first stab at it based on what I know (or have seen) so far. The cup games will give me more info and allow me to make a more informed go of it.

I can swap you from CB to CDM from week to week, rather than doing it at the halfway point, but I don't think that'd do anyone any favours really.
