Tournaments!

(Please note – ELO is a server-side patch due next week. We are working on youtube and stacking issues and the ATI bug currently, they will be in the final patch.)

Tournament system: you can now create tournaments from within FS. This is the headline new feature of the patch, and shoud lead to a lot more tournament play. It’s also designed to give a great FS experience at a LAN party – you can easily put everyone at the LAN into a tourny and have an all-play-all mini-championship. We will be working with Meneth (who runs the DGL tournaments) to improve this feature, adding requested features.

Traffic light changes (these have been live on UK1 for a few weeks now, with positive reports):

- If you go to Green, behavour is as before – the system will attempt to match you with someone who wants the same gamemode as you, but will find you a game of a different type regardless.

- If you go to Yellow, you will only be given a game when someone else wants the same mode as you.

- Red is the same.

- Also, we have dramatically reduced the number of challenge messages you get while on red.

Emailing now works with email addresses with unusual characters in them.

Multiple illegal characters are now banned from usernames.

Multiple server side fixes and changes

Die In A Fire Steam Achievement is fixed

Several small menu changes

Fixed a ‘sploit which allowed you to start units in illegal zones in bidding modes.

Link to the Game Page now exists in the Match Results window

Game mode names display properly in the active games window

“v” LOS indicator now works with an order selected.

Hostage plans must end in an exit zone before you are allowed to commit.

Searches for player names using the wrong capitalisation now works.

Fixed a small “levelled up” message bug.

If you hit Level 3 and you have never changed your game mode selections, all dark modes are automatically selected.

Some protection over ordering the wrong team (this happens all the time) has been put in place. You will be warned if you do not order all of your troops.

Fixed incorrect turn number in Active Games window.

Fixed being able to open Game window in tutorial.

The PRIME button is not longer visible when you have already committed a turn in a game.

When you search there is now a server loading message.

There is a subtle sound notification when a new turn comes in and you have FS minimised.

You can now watch an entire match through without turn stops by pressing ‘w’ or by finding the button in the Game window.

Post match result screen now shows negative points if you lost the match

Game ID is now shown in the Game menu.

You can delete plan elements through the toolbox window now – this allows you to play FS wholly with the mouse.

Belacqua typo in tutorial

Marco Senn didn’t have a space in his name in the credits! We have fixed this egregious error and we apologise unreservedly.

Charge games now count towards scoring.

Fixed mysterious, non-specific problems with adding friends.

Mission 13-3 had a small bug we fixed.

You can no longer drag rocket or grenade aims or the v line outside the game zone. This was causing errors.

Remarkably, selecting “Check” from the orders menu, and using ctrl + left click (the shortcut for Check) produced different kinds of Check order. This has been fixed.

Mac users and other people without right mouse buttons can now open the orders menu with the ‘o’ key.

Crashing on quit has been fixed. We think.

You are now included in the Daily Rankings.

You are not allowed to drag units into walls during deployment.

If for some reason the AI process can not be contacted, the game no longer hangs on loading single player games.

Protection against crashing in computers which can’t handle the menu backgrounds added.

Share Skirmish Settings and Import Skirmish Settings windows can no longer be lost behind other menus.

fixed a crash in C18m4

Disputed boxes will now be seen if they spawn on a unit.

Paul dealt with a lot of typos.

I just played you (i'm welford) That wasn't the best of starting positions was it?

Nope! I went for an all out risk tactic of working out where you were going to fire you missile and decided to fire through that hole...yeah went very wrong :lol:

Great fun though :D

Still got a spare copy if anyone wants to get just the one or trade for any doubles they might have themselves.

I haven't played in a while because of that cursed humble indie bundle. I kind of miss it, actually.

On the last mission in the single player and I managed to kill most of the enemy and on the 7th turn it has frozen on me, resume campaign results in a freeze too :(

Is there no way to restart the current mission? play unlocked missions seems to start from one before.

A quick question for those of you that have this already - how long does a match take to plan and execute? I have it in my head that this is slow turned based strategy gaming. How many turns does each player get or is it just one pre-emptive plan each and then see what happens? Do both players have to be logged into the game at the same time to play together or can we set up a game and plan our moves separately at different times? Thanks

I think what put me off this is the end game scenarios where you've just got 2 rocket launcher guys standing in open space and neither can lose. Every class should have a secondary weapon you can switch to at will to avoid this kind of sillyness (plus it generally gives more options for strategy.)

It just needs some tlc and this would be the best strategy game ever.

anyone else have problem registering the humble bundle frozen synapse code with steam? I already had it but bought it for my brother but the code for steam doesn't seem to work unfortunately. It has no dashes between the characters but even adding these in didn'tseem to help. Anyone else have the same issue?
