got my battlefield the other day, if anyone wants a few games feel free to shoot a friends request/game invite or something! only have the original maps though

also added the rllmukbf3 tag, so if whoever controls it could accept me if its still in use that'd be awesome

I hope they have adapted a shedload of other maps for Rush AND Conquest. 5 flag variants of Seine & Grand Bazaar on the PC make those maps so much more enjoyable to play on Conquest. Hell, I'd like to see the 5 flag Caspian Border & Kharg Island too, use those wasted bits of maps up like they do on the PC!

Oh yeah, proper 5 flag Conquest on all the B2K maps would be nice too.

Now THIS sounds like good news. Apparently a new 5th set of M-Coms have been added to Damavand Peak rush mode. :)

Not heard if the same is true for other maps.

Awesome. I can imagine being part of a 12-man assault from the tunnels against a solid defence being massively fun. So many opportunities to flank (and be pushed back) once you manage to get a foothold in the open.

The transport chopper will be much more useful too.

i downloaded a 1.9gb multiplayer patch when i first put the game on, are the "multiplayer updates" on the store also worth having? am i missing out on fixes by not having them downloaded? or are they just for the map packs and the multiplayer patches are all merged into the 1.9gb patch? cheers anyone that can clear it up

I'd expect that the patch you downloaded will be the latest one, which should supercede the older versions.

EDIT:

==========================================

Which Updates You Will Need To Play Online

==========================================

The only updates that you will need to play online:

**********************************

-Title Update - 183 MB

-Multiplayer Update 5 - 1.8 GB

**********************************

You will still be able to use weapons from other DLC packs if you pick them up off of a dead player. Multiplayer Update 5 contains all of the functionality to allow players who have DLC and players who do not have DLC, to be able to play together without causing graphical, sound, or network errors. This functionality includes: Guns, Camos, and Dogtags.

So if you only own one or two pieces of DLC, you'll need the updates listed above and whichever corresponding DLC listed below. You are not required to keep Battlefield 3 Update (Back to Karkand) and Multiplayer Update 3 (Close Quarters) if you do not own them. You can't download Armored Kill or Aftermath unless you purchase them.

==========================================

Which Updates You Will Need If You Own DLC

==========================================

If you have the corresponding DLC, this is how it will be listed on your Hard Drive:

*****************************************************

-Battlefield 3 Update (Back To Karkand) - 2.1 GB

-Multiplayer Update 3 (Close Quarters) - 2.4 GB

-Armored Kill - 1.6 GB

-Aftermath - 1.6 GB

-Battlefield 3 Title Update - 183 MB

-Multiplayer 5 Update - 1.8 GB

*****************************************************

You can download each of these from the in game store, provided that you have purchased it or purchased Premium. If you have Premium, make extra sure to download it from the in game store, as the system will try to charge you $15 to download it from the Xbox LIVE marketplace.

If you want to play any of the DLC maps, you need the corresponding pieces of DLC. If you do not care about playing any of the maps in a specific pack, you technically do not have to have it installed. Be aware, though, that you will lose the ability to use any equipment that came with the DLC. That means, for example, if you delete Multiplayer Update 3 (Close Quarters), you will no longer be able to equip the MTAR on your loadout, although you can still pick it up off of dead players. You will also lose the ability to equip any Dogtags or camos that were added by the update.

==========================================

Which Updates You Can Delete

==========================================

These updates below are made superfluous by Multiplayer Update 5 and can be safely deleted:

***********************************************

-Rent-A-Server / E-Sports Update - 1.02 GB

-Multiplayer Update 4 - 1.44 GB

***********************************************

Just in case you have some weird OCD thing about collecting stuff, the Rent-A-Server / E-Sports Update can no longer be downloaded from DICE, so once you delete it off of your hard drive, it's gone forever. While Multiplayer Update 4 is still currently up on the in-game store, it will more than likely be replaced in the near future with Multiplayer Update 5. And once it's gone, it's gone for good. Again, these updates serve no purpose and are not used at all when the player has Multiplayer Update 5 installed.

==========================================

Closing

==========================================

-Once Multiplayer Update 6 drops, you will be able to delete Multiplayer Update 5. MU5 contains no pieces of DLC content (read: Maps), so it will not be needed once MU6 is made available. DO NOT DELETE MU5 UNTIL YOU HAVE MU6 INSTALLED. (It's not being released anytime soon, but just for future reference).

-There is no "Multiplayer Update 2". The Rent-A-Server / E-Sports update took its place and DICE just continued to number them after.

-I'll continue to update this topic as needed, but since posts can only be edited for an hour, you'll have to search to the end of the topic to see an update list (which will more than likely be a couple months from now).

Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Special thanks to BionicBatman for deleting his updates and helping me verify that everything works.

i have no idea how people work out how to fly the choppers, i had a go on that co-op mode with some yank kid and he was mocking me hardcore, longest flying in the chopper before smashing it into a mountain or the ground was about 30 seconds :doh: still prefer the tanks i think for my combat vehicle of choice, as i can drive one in a straight line. but want to learn the choppers!

kerraig, whats your gamertag and i'll add you up. and cheers whoever added me the other day, just had some fifa duties last night or i'd have tried to gate crash your game

Chopper hint number 1: Change the stick controls to (cant remember which yet, but i'll check online later and get back to you)

Mankes it much easier/more intuitive to keep em level

I'll be online all night tonight so jump in with me. We can do some big chopper maps with me flying to get ya loads of chopper points which will help with unlocking

Gamertag is kerraig, but my friends list is full so i'll have to delete someone

Find an empty conquest server running a map with choppers on it (anything except metro, seine crossing and grand bazaar, probably)* and go mad. Not sure if any of them have attack and scout choppers but then I never play conquest.

*This is assuming you don't have any of the DLC.

i'll try an empty server sometime, or just keep on trying in battle!

i bought the close quarters pack as it's good to jump on without anyone on my friends list playing, and just bought the aftermath pack. think that will do me for now as i barely know any of the other maps yet anyway

just had a right old blinder on the monolith map, taking snipers up to the high buildings, and playing hide and seek with the igla boys around the buildings, and driving the other chopper pilot crackers, only had to bail out once.

Looking forward to the new maps and cant see how the last lot can be topped.

Ok, i'm getting pretty damn excited about these last maps now. Thought they looked crappy in the official videos but these flybys make em look like a lot of fun. Pretty low on destruction which is a shame though.

I'll most likely be online tonight too if anyone needs an additional player.

Have only been playing the Xbox version for about 2 hours, but I must say that I find it much easier to aim in this version compared to the PS3 that I also own. I don't know if it is the controller or the game, but probably a combination. It somehow feels like the frame rate is much steader in this version, the PS3 version feels much "jumpier"

I still suck at this game though so no difference between versions there. :)
