Man... Went to jump in for a quick go at End Game tonight, thinking I already had the content from the 6GB update a few days ago, and now it wants to download another 4GB? I'm sure I've downloaded this game's content about 5 times over!

Yea the size of patches in this game is retarded. The latest mp patch on 360 (no content) was 1.6 Gb. How is that even possible? For a company having done games for like what 15 years DICE must have some of the crappiest programmers ever.

There is content in them though. Each multiplayer update contains all the weapons, camo's, textures etc. that can be shared between players regardless of which DLCs they own. e.g. a player with the basic game might kill someone using a weapon / camo / dogtag from one of the DLCs and the update means that they will be able to see (and use) that weapon etc. They also contain all the balancing updates and bug fixes.

I guess they might still be bloated to some extent, but they do have stuff in them.

Having come back to it after the Arsenal match, Origin has helpfully decided to throttle my download at 40KB/s for the last GB or so. It's not my connection; I need a driver update anyway so I snagged that from Nvidia to test and that's coming in at 1.5MB/s. No EG for me tonight then :-/

I have no particular issue with the size per se, incidentally, but I don't think these updates have been anywhere near as efficient / incremental as they could have been. I know everyone - or at least most people playing online games - has oodles of bandwidth these days but it does seem like a bit more effort could have been put in. At least I didn't buy it for my 20GB 360!

Definitely the servers, and not just me it seems. In case it helps anyone else, fiddling with your DNS settings temporarily can improve things:

We use a third party content distribution network called Akamai for our downloads, we have no control over their utilization or bandwidth - they host content for Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Valve and many more major websites.

We're working on our own Content Distribution Network, however if you're getting a slow download speed, as a work-around you can change your DNS to a another provider such as OpenDNS or GoogleDNS as this will change the region of Akamai server used to download our content and allow you to achieve full speed if that server is overloaded (from serving content to those sites I listed above).

GoogleDNS: https://developers.g...eed/public-dns/ [developers.google.com]

In addition to these two DNS servers, if you're still getting a slow download speed you can use any DNS server located anywhere across the globe, this will force Origin to use the Akamai server in that region

The AA Hummer seems to be fecked by all accounts. The won't reload / fire sometimes, and the AA & Rocket HUDs get swapped. Apparently the only way to resolve it is for the vehicle to be destroyed and re-spawned.

I've been in it a few times now wondering why none of the missiles would fire (and have unfairly moaned at a couple of people for not firing the rockets while I've been driving it).

Still, on the upside it would seem that when they do fire, the standard rockets deliver MASSIVE DAMAGE.

I'm loving the new maps but why the hell is there a time limit on CTF? I haven't seen a single custom server that didn't have it, so I guess you can't get rid of it for some bizarre reason.

I ave been in a few games thus far which have been full-on defence by both teams. Snipers and support guys watching the flag, tonnes of mines around the base, and all vehicles hanging back in case a player tries to get through. When it is like this the game can be infuriating, so a time limit is welcomed.

When CTF works though, it works really well. Like a game of Rush where both teams are on attack and defence simultaneously. And the new maps are very good.

Air Superiority can go eat a bag of dicks though.

Guys, page 5, really?

Anymore impressions of End Game? I can finally pick it up now, but have one question:

Since I'm not currently a Premium member, I wouldn't get access to the BF4 Beta, which when that comes I know I will be gutted. I already have Back to Karkand and the Earthquake pack... would I be really made to buy Premium now for End Game, plus the other expansions I didn't have, and to give me access to the Beta in the future? Back to Karkand was free with my copy of BF3 so I only bought 1 expansion so far I guess.

Good fun on End Game yesterday chaps, must say I am loving all those maps and the bikes, what a perfect last expansion pack. Capture the flag is awesome too, some very tense moments grabbing the flag and jumping on a bike to get out!

I remember the deserty type map where I lone wolfed it to get the flag, then Kerraig picked me up in the chopper half way after my vehicle got destroyed, go the winning cap and got an achievement for my troubles :) The map with the river down the middle is great too.

Good to play with others of you to after he disappeared to drink some bath water or something...

I will be on tonight from 8pm if not a bit earlier.

Saw you guys on last night but your game was full, so I decided to get the MK3A1 Specialist assignment instead. After running around a couple of Ziba Tower games blasting anything that moved with flechette rounds I had all 80 kills, as well as a message reading "you are a fucking noob go kill your self!!!!!" :D
