Fair enough, but your one-button-combat comment is still flat out wrong.

I'm really looking forward to this, looking at those screens up there and reading peoples thoughts on the first game has reminded me just how awesome it was punching a room full of fools in the face like an ice-skating demon ninja on crack. Amazing scenes.

Something was definitely up with the yarr version of Arkham, wasn't it something like one of the moves not working which meant you couldn't progress past a certain point in the game? Anyway, Arkham hardly requires a 1337 ninja pc to look and run significantly better than the 360 version, so unless something is wrong with your game or your pc (old drivers and the like) you really need to upgrade badly.

So I thought I'd yarr the original pc version since I sold on my xbox copy a while ago. Why do pc games, on a pc with a fair bit more grunt than a 360, run at less frames per second than the console version? :hmm:

I'd definitely recommend not basing your opinion of a game entirely on one obtained from the high seas just in case there's something up with the cracking they've done etc. Also, one of the major reasons is that the PC has to run many, many more things in the background behind the game, which aren't in any way related to the game- whereas a console is designed to cut out everything except what's needed for the game. And XBox Live.

The super crack I have apparently fixes that ;)

anyway it probably my processor, it's an old P4 3ghz, that failed the required hardware test pre-install. I easily have enough ram and a decent enough gfx card though.

Ah well. I'll have to maybe get the xbox version on the cheap. I'm not upgrading my pc til deus ex 3 is (nearly) out! :)

There there, ignore the nasty Mr. Gerbik, it's not your fault that you can't run Batman properly!

It's not meant to be nasty! I don't exactly have a ninja PC either, but whenever there's a game I can't run at max (Metro 2033 to name one obvious example, but there'll be tons more in 2011) then I see it as something to look forward to when I do eventually upgrade - it's a bit like playing a HD remake of said game on a a newer generation console! :D

It's okay, I was just massaging my laptop's ego ;)

I do want to upgrade (the laptop's only just over a year old, but, well, it's a laptop, and so was never the greatest of games-playing machines) - now that I'm back in the UK, I don't really need a portable machine, so I want to build myself a new PC, but having been unemployed since my contract ended in May I just can't justify the expense :(

Be patient and just stick with your laptop for the time being. I bet there's a huge pile of games you still have to play through so when you think about it, there's no rush at all to buy the new games that interest you. By the time you're back on your feet financially (and it will happen) then you can even pick them up cheaper, so it's win-win really :) I've been in the same situation in the past and it's not worth sacrificing bill payments or even a decent meal just to keep up with the new game releases, and it's also definitely not worth it going crazy about it - those games will still be there later on, and will still be just as enjoyable. Good luck finding a new job, I'm sure it will turn out all right in the end - it always does :)

But I want to play pretty games NOW! :omg:

(mainly I'm annoyed because I know I'm going to have to preorder the new Deus Ex for the exclusive stuff, and it'll be sat there tormenting me  )

Edit: worth pointing out I don't have to worry about bill payments or owt, though, as I don't want to seem like I'm somehow worthy of sympathy - I'm living with my mum at the moment, which is by far the most depressing thing about my life at the moment. Er, not meant as a slight against my mum, I hasten to add)

So fascinatingly enough I turned off extended desktop from my second monitor and now it runs a fair bit better :D man I forgot how ace the acting and presentation are  but upon seeing Croc durng that opening section, I also remembered how shit the bosses were, too.

No bosses this time please, Rocksteady! Or at least make them susceptible to the core stealth mechanic if you insist :)

Bosses are in and I think that is a good thing as Batman's rogue gallery is too good to waste. They were very reptetive in the first though, basically all of them needed to be defeated by dodging and throwing batarangs. It's one of the things they have adressed for this game, or so Sefton Hill said in an interview with GamesTM.

Arkham needs to look to the MGS series for some good stealth-based bosses. I think I prefer set piece boss battles (like Scarecrow) which involve some kind of innovative twist on the gameplay, to just whittling down the health bar of a large character.

Yeah defo - but even then I'm thinking about how the bosses were (kind of) in Tenchu - you could go head-to-head with them if you liked, but you could also run off, hide, and stealth kill them if you wanted. I want to be able to beat the bosses sneakily!

But omg Croc was a crock. And a cop out!

Yet more screens. (really wish they'd hurry up and release some in game footage)

According to the official Arkham City Facebook page, they are planning on releasing some spectacular content at Christmas and New Year, so with a bit of luck we might get our first footage. :)
