Batman: Arkham City - Reviews - Post #882

I've only just seen the scans have that been online for months, so sorry for the very late reaction to them, but:

I'm a bit disappointed they're gone for such a 'Dark Knight' look with Two Face, down to the still joined ligaments in the face and burnt suit, and such a Halle Berry look with Catwoman. One of my favourite things about AA was the way they interpreted the villains, I was hoping for something a little less obvious and more inventive.

But it's a minor quibble and I'm stupidly pumped for this.

Re: The PC version of AA discussion a couple of days ago, make sure you have the Physx shit turned off, it will kill your framerate. It doesn't require much grunt and runs like silk on very moderate machines.

I agree that the redesigns were very cool in Arkham, especially Harley's.

I like that they have stuck with Darwyn Cooke's Catwoman design though, although I hate that she always has her cleavage out in alot of artists rendition of the costume.

Apologies if this has been posted before...

Concept art for the sequel hidden in AA!

That's pretty cool, one thing I noticed in my playthrough is the newspapers dotted around. In the Penitentiary, there are some on the floor and you can zoom in and read the headlines, one talks about a mysterious paramilitary group spotted in Gotham, and has a picture of one of those Splinter Cell looking dudes from the trailer. It's not something I've really seen mentioned on the net.

They clearly have hidden a lot in the game.

Yeah during my recent pc replay I've noticed lots of those little details, I saw one headline which was along the lines of 'freak storm approaches - mayor evacuates city' so perhaps that's something to do with the setup for the next game.

Absolutley loving my replay, I only played through once - such a labour of love, even the collectibles are fantastic! Rocksteady have their work cut out to reach the levels of awesome the first game has.

I noticed the guy being interrogated in the CGI trailer has a patch on his arm that reads "TYGER". I assume that's the name of the PMC, but whilst I'm not a comic reader a quick Google suggests they aren't something previously established.

Damn, Sarge - I just came here to post that!

It's undeniably impressive, but the consensus over at GAF is that it's fake. The character models are from Arkham Asylum, and the environment is, apparently, from the GOTY edition. Also, I got a distinct feeling of deja vu when Batman says "it's over, Joker".

Finally, it makes no sense - I could understand if it was, say, Catwoman performing combo takedowns with Batman, but the Joker? Nah, I don't buy it.

An MP mode of sorts would be my bet.

Co-op with the Joker - why not?

Totally, that seems like it would be right up Rocksteady's alley. In the first game they kept changing elements of the combat scenarios to keep things interesting for the player. Just a small section where you have no option but to team up with the Joker to get out of a sticky situation would be a really nice dynamic.

Nah, to be honest I get fed up with female characters slopping their breasts all over the place, I play half my games in front of the girlfriend and it's embarrassing.

You should tell your girlfriend that maybe if she put out more, you wouldn't have to get your kicks from virtual titty simulators.

Saying that, my wife laughed (at me, more than at the game) last night at Kaine's gravity defying rack in Nier. Kaine's magic tits are made all the worse by the fact she goes around wearing nothing by lingerie and bandages.

I'm working my way through the first game, and it's just occured to me Batman doesn't actually kill anyone. Is this a Batman thing, or just a game only 'feature'? I understand killing bosses wouldn't be good for future stories, but why not snap a loonie's neck? And I'm sure a batclaw in the heart is fatal.

In the comics it's been established for decades that Batman will never (purposefully) kill people.
