Thanks for the heads up Len, seems such a waste. I really strongly disagree with the closed source model nVidia have adopted and to then hamper physx cpu development (and disabling physx when amd is primary renderer). But they do seem to be delivering more consistent playable games, update guides and patches for the cards. I'll be upgrading later this year and I'll be most upset if it has to be nVidia.

23 riddler trophies to go and a few side missions to clean up for 100% in story mode, twice.

I gave up at 356/400 - I wanted to

rescue that last hostage

but had read somewhere that you had to get the 400/400 first. Some of those last trophies are a sod - six triggers to hit, apparently at the same time (or near enough to make no odds)?

What about the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race version of the DLC? Or is it console exclusive?

PC version of Arkham City is a bit of a shambles really, I got a free copy with my MSI GeForce GTX560Ti card last month but it's clearly inferior to the 360 version. It looks a little better and is all crisp and nice in its full 1080p high detail glory, but you get loading stutters every time you open a door or enter a new room. Bah.

is it me or are their parts of this game that are nigh-on IDENTICAL in layout (map-wise) to the first game?

Just bigger.

I'm currently trying to find Mr. Freeze but the parts I have played, I'm all like "this is that bit in the first game", or "this is just like x,y,or z in Arkham Asylum"

I mean, obviously, they use it as a way to ease you (back) into the game, but still...

There's a pretty big and noticeable difference between the console and PC version, but you do need a pretty hefty PC to get the most out of the DX11 and PhysX effects. Even with my GTX 580 my rig struggled at certain points with all of those turned up.

Oh and about the DLC on PC, the devs said this:

A PC version [of the DLC] will be available and we’ll confirm details at a later time

So after all the problems reported, I bought this in the steam sale. Not a single problem, I can even run Physx on medium without that much of a slowdown. It's a superb game, glad I cracked and bought it!

I've only got an i5 2500 and a 6970. With tesselation ramped up and physx on medium I still get around 25fps! I was genuinely impressed. It does drop in wierd places though, like where there's no obvious physx or tess going on. No idea.

Does Physx stuff work on Ati machines then? I always thought it didn't?

It's certainly not optimised to run on the cpu, but it can do and does, there are two settings, medium and high, I tried high, 2fps. But on medium the game is playable.

Oddly, I have been possed and then negged for reporting my experience with the game :D

Mate. Unless the idea sickens you, stick it to DX9 mode. You'll easily hit 60fps, with a very slightly lower image quality (honestly, dx11 makes a very very small noticable difference)

Three times the frame rate or very slightly better lighting and ROUNDED CORNERS. You decide.
