Two Worlds II

The PC version is fully 360 controller compatible and looks about a million times better - but the 360 version still looks good. Anyway, yeah the naughty version that is floating around 'out there' is also in English and is of course PAL so it will work on UK 360s no problem, you guys are also Europeans after all :)

ARE WE! ARE WE!?!

Yeah my PC would blast it to bits, I just want to sit under the TV and all that shiz...

Have you seen the PC screens in the link in the post above yours? Have you? If there's any way to hook your PC up to your telly I would say go for it. It's a matter of preference so do whatever suits you best. Like I said, the 360 still looks good compared to other rpgs on the 360 apperently, just don't expect much in the way of AA and framerate...

I've done the hooking my PC up to telly before; they're not in the same room now. It would mean moving the PC downstairs which I can't really do.

I'm not a 100% graphics whore (I put up with the Gothic 4 demo on the 360), maybe I'll wait a week or two until there's some more 360 screens/etc.

I was just saying, I don't want you to busting your back - or worse, your lovingly put together 1337 PC - just because of some throwaway post I made. I don't know if this helps but at least know that the 360 version of Two Worlds looks about a million times better than Gothic 4 on the 360.

Edit: to clarify, the 360 version definitely does NOT look bad (just some dodgy animation, but that's exactly the same on the PC version and part of the EuroRPG feel we all love) it's just that the PC version looks that much better. But that's to be expected five (or was it six by now?) years after a console is released, the differences will only get bigger as time goes on.

I really feel I should beanbag and xbox this. I don't want to PC it up, want to relax into it...

Hmm could I 360 import it guys? :S

That's what i'm trying to do via Amazon.de but nothing has been shipped yet even though the basic game is in stock there. Incredibly frustrating.

Have been playing this since the moment I got home from work. Has been a pleasant journey so far and I think the game is just about to let go of my hand and let me out there on my own now. Exciting times.

It looks fantastic and the voice acting isn't all that terrible. Bit gutted that there doesn't seem to be as many cheesy lines when you kill stuff or do something compared to the first one. Was looking forward to those one liners. Also think it will take me a little while to get better at the combat, I may just be incredibly tired and messing things up myself tonight but things seem to respond quite slow to what I want it to do. (Playing on PC version with the 360 pad) :)

Man I just can't get into this game at all. Which is a bit of a disappointment considering I'm a huge fan of the first. I love the new spell-making, the crafting... the graphics look pretty good (though a patch desperately needs to dial down the horribly overused hdr/bloom/fov effects, it looks like a MGE Morrowind mod gone horribly wrong at times) and it has joypad support. But it's a couple of annoyances put together that spoil the game for me.

Like how the world isn't as open as it was in the first game. In the first game you can stand in a random spot and you know you could go in any direction from there. Here the world seems huge, but it's open more like how Far Cry 2 was open... A big huge world divided into areas which you can access without any loading screens but only through certain spots which you are funnelled through. Maybe the world opens up more later on but right now I can't be arsed playing any further.

The menu screens are a bit fiddly, but my main problem is that there doesn't seem a way to view my stats? Am I missing something here? Where can I see an overview of all the stats, of how much physical defence I now have combined for example? I stumbled across that particular problem as I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong in the first big area, the savannah. Up until that point I can basically kill everything in or two blows. Then, in what is still very much the tutorial opening bit of the game, I need to ride somewhere to find someones inkwell to gain access to the first big city (long story). But to get there I need to get past a bunch of enemies that kill me really fast. The main annoyances being the Giant Ants - I do hardly any damage and they kill in one hit. So I upgrade everything I can upgrade, grind a bit to gain an extra level, put points into different defensive skills and melee damage - and I still get killed in one hit.

I don't mind rpgs being hard at all, but either I'm missing something really obvious or this game is no fun. This is still at the very beginning of the game, there is bugger all else to do, and the game immediately sends me towards enemies that insta-kill me. I have barely any money and I'm still low-level because, as I said, it's the start of the game. Maybe I'm supposed to simply ignore all the enemies and ride past them on my horse, but there are baboons that simply chase me and when I get off my horse at my destination they will have brought a Giant Ant along that kills me in one hit.

I really hope I'm overlooking something totally obvious because the game makes a damned good impression in certain areas and I'm willing to give it a chance. But for now I'm heading back to New Vegas.

I know the problem - you're rubbish! ;)

The ants are real tough but you can pretty much out walk them. Just run around with the bow and kite them.

If you've got nothing to do then maybe you've missed some side quests? The guys at the very start will have some. Just teleport back.

As for the stats - I couldn't find them either. Welcome to EuroRPG! :) Also try and drop the ingame Gamma down one or two to help with the over brightness.

Come back when you're done with Fallout. This is pretty damn cool is you ask me.

Cosmic Guru has yours shipped yet from Amazon.de?

Dude. Seriously? You're telling me 'welcome to the EuroRPG'? Man, after Cosmic Guru and maybe (just maybe!) daveodeth I'm the most fanatical wrpg fanatic on this forum! ;)

In my defence, I've been ill and feeling like shit all week. Two Worlds 2 was also a bit of an impulse buy despite my temporary financial woes because I was sick at home and really felt like buying a new wrpg - and because *somebody* posted a link on where and how to buy it which is basically just gamer peer pressure! And as I said, I'm a huge fan of the first game. It didn't click immediately and I started over 4 times and got really sick of the tutorial... I'll take your advice and give it another shot after New Vegas. Note that I was already planning on doing so, though.

Is Risen open world and big and bold. £9.99 seems like a good deal to me...

It's fucking great, and the PC version is like a million times better than the lazy console port - get it!

I should have the 360 Royal edition in my grubby mitts by this evening provided the Citylink van can find its way over from Wimbledon. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN I DO. Just got one or two more things to find in Fable III then I can jump into this full time for as long as it takes.

As for stats, there seem to be plenty according to this article which suggests you have to hover over individual inventory items to see the effect of equipping them but I would have thought there would be an overall summary maybe on the skills page (the interfaces on the first game were very cluttered).

Yeah the effect of each item is visible, and also the effect of equipping them is shown. On the skills page you can also see what each individual skills does - but there isn't an overall summary, which seems like a bit of an oversight. The interfaces are still cluttered but as you will see it's very commendable what they tried to do to improve it for console and joypad players. Overall I would say it's an improvement, but it's still cluttered, just cluttered in a different way

It kind of makes you think "Why should I pay for it when I don't get it". Pretty shoddy, a few people have had this issue. I'm guessing it won't be resolved before the weekend is over. Very poor.

There is a Risen thread you know ;) People always assuming that once you've played one EuroRPG, you've played them all so might as well post in whatever thread you fancy! Well, I do admit that it's mostly the same people posting in the Risen, Two Worlds 1/2, and Arcania etc etc threads, but still...

But that's both typical and inexcusable that they've run out of keys! They really didn't see it coming I guess but a quick look on Steam shows that Risen is currently second on the top sellers list, under Black Ops but above the likes of New Vegas, FM2011 and F1 2010. It might be because it's the first time ever that the Steam version has been on sale for a reasonable price, god knows I've been waiting for this for ages. The bother is worth it btw Disciple!

Well I wont be playing this for a while. Citylink managed to deliver to the wrong flat and the people there are denying they signed for anything. I will get proof of delivery on Monday and will take if futher if necessary but it won't help - some fence in Sutton is puzzling over what to do with this beauty right now I imagine.:facepalm::facepalm:
