Dark Souls - Prepare To Die... You Died.

Yeah I used her soul to create the Chaos Blade but it's nowhere near as good as the Lightning Uchigatana that I had and I regret making it tbh. Without realising at the time, its power increases with the more humanity you have on you and I never have any so it's not the best fit.

dont use a ninja sword with her soul just a regular curved, like a scimitar or falchion. then youll get queelag furysword. chaos blade is only for when you like rolling around with humanity.

I did though, she was all willing to sell me shit, and then later she was dead. I'm gonna fuck that guy up and good

really? i read as long as you talk to her that stops him from doing the dirty deed.

regardless i killed her anyway because she has 7 humanity after i was done buying stuff from her of course.

Ta, oh well that'll have to wait for NG+!

I got invaded last night :( I was still cursed. EDIT: No I wasn't, but I had taken some hits and was on about 50% health from that.

I won. :D Bought some pyromancy with the proceeds. In your face, invader.

You've passed the black leather armour, it's in

one of the side rooms that assassins come out of in the Lower Burg, very near the Capra Demon room.

I'm using a combination of that and the starting Wanderer armour, which is pretty good really.

Well worth taking a couple of purging stones in with you, you can get a couple easily by doing an item swap

back at the Asylum, drop a a cracked red invasion thing that you'll have in Hawk Girl's nest on the left, save, quit, reload, pick up.

Ah, great. I did pick that armour up, I think, but I thought it was the same as the outfit I already had, will have another look. :)

I'll have a look at getting back to the mention place too. Thanks!

there seems to be some confusion on the wiki, it looks like if you buy all her stuff she will go off to Dukes Archives and get hollowed, and if you leave her for a while that tosser will kill her. I'd say the game's habit of killing off trainers is a step too far with the comedy harshness.

I smashed fuck out of Gravelord (poof-lord) Mito last night, he went down like a bitch after I killed his skeleton posse.

Anyone found any tricks to get a second pyro-flame in the first runthrough? I need red titanite to up my +7 Fire Iaito and apparently snuggly will do a swap. I've tried dropping my existing one and speaking to the two remaining pyro types but no dice. I wonder if I trade mine I'll then be able to buy another, far too scared to check though.

I'm really enjoying this Tank build. Goes against how i normally play the game, so it's a refreshing change.

Currently rocking:

Full set of Black Iron.

Tower Shield +10

Giant Halberd +5

Greatsword +13*

Divine Zweihander +5*

Fire Bastard Sword +5*

*Works in progress. Need Embers or Chunks etc.

No gimics, no back-flipping, no spells, just pure thunking and clunking of metal!

Idea is to slam everything on Faith come NG+. See if we can't get some decent weapon buffs on the go. Plus i'm dying to play with Rage of God.

I'm currently thinking of a tank build (SL50 on my first playthrough) what sort of stats have you got early on for that?

Just remembered, it's well worth going there for a ring that stops you running like treacle in water too (just avoid the boss!). May or may not have been useful for the Depths - I didn't take it off to find out - but it's certainly going to come in for the very bottom of Blighttown.

So, what are people's views on sales figures for this. After a month or so on release, it seems to be creeping towards 1m worldwide (with incomplete data on vgchartz) at a few tens of thousands per month, though dropping fast.

Is this more or less than expected (demon's sales stand at 1.3m) do we think?

If less, is it due to the perceived and widely trumpeted difficulty, the impending arrival of Skyrim etc? It certainy had much more media profie, specialist and general than demons, and a lot more store space etc.

This game is incredible. Let me start by saying I am terrible at nearly all games. And I'm not particularly good at this. But I've now clocked over 100 hours on it and am nowhere near doing most of the stuff you guys are talking about, but that really doesn't bother me, I'm just loving levelling my guy up and discovering new stuff.

I'd have expected it to do better business on account of it not being a platform exclusive this time around. However, it did pop out in the run up to Christmas, with GOW, Batman, Rage, Skyrim, etc all competing. Probably not the best time for a more niche title.

A million is pretty amazing for a game like this. It's super-niche in reality, I don't think any game in the series will ever sell much more than Demon's Souls did. It's too difficult and unaccomodating to break into the mainstream, no matter when it's released.

Off the top of my head: 40 Endurance, 36 Strength, everything else is pretty much starting Knight stats.

I'm not big on upgrading Health, but it's probably wise - cause Armour only goes so far. ;)

Oh, and i'm wearing Ring of Favour & Protection and Havel's Ring, in order to have full heavy armour, huge shield, big chopper and still stay under 50% equip.

Got invaded outside of Queelags boss door last night, i had just summoned NPC mildred, then heard the telltale sound of an iminent invader. I ran back to the fog gate to see him going toe to toe with mildred, when i ran up behind him and whomped him over the head with my flaming zweihander of justice. Thanks Mildred!

Sweet, cheers for the tips :).

I'm currently sitting at about 24 str and end, and 21 vit so I should be able to work that build no bother. It's not much use for PvP though is it? Most of the vids I've seen are pyro spells mincing armoured people

Depends how good you are at timing Ultra or Great Sword swings. Their power means you should kill any low-level player in 2-3 hits, depending on what buffs/added parameters you're rocking.

Staying under 50% equip means you should be rolling to avoid any and all spells. ;)

I built the Giant Mirdan Hammer +5 specifically to shut down invaders - the two-handed overhead slam is really fast, the size/length of the thing makes it the ultimate 'stay-away' weapon. Plus it has built in Lightning damage, so when it does connnect, you'll get the frazzle-stun, that'll give an extra second to whack 'em again.

Well I used to be good at it in demon's souls, remains to be seen if I remember how :P

Good point, I'm a wee bit away from that atm though.

That sounds like a good idea actually, either that or the gargoyle halberd I picked up.

I'd be more interested in the return rates. What with it reviewing well and being sold out (on both formats) the first place I tried to pick it up, I have been wondering how many "WTF?!" moments it generated.

I've got the posh version of Demon's Souls which I could easily sell and get Dark Souls for (more or less) free. I've not got that far in Demon's Souls, really...Partly because it is on PS3 and I never really turn it on. What would the muk mind do in this situation?

I was in a very similar situation - owning Demon's Souls, never really having gotten into it, hoping that certain things about Dark Souls would allow me to like it.

And now? I love Dark Souls, and will almost certainly give Demon's Souls another look someday, armed with the learning that Dark Souls has given me.

So buy Dark Souls, love it, then go back to Demon's.

Any tips on how to get an extra atunement slot? I've only got 2, and when I chose Atunement as a level up option it didn't say it was going to give me any more.

Is it linked to other stats?

I think so, it's not a case of one more point gives you one more slot.

Also, random accidental pos! Because you're worth it.

This sounds like a fair answer. I'm going to get rid of the posh version anyway because it's just shit (as in, the extra stuff you get with it) which I've basically regretted since I got it, regardless of the game itself being fun.

I had to level up Attunement a number of times to get an extra slot (started with one, picked up a spicy lil' something that required a second). I only reinforced that one stat once I'd decided I needed the upgrade but, then again, my other stats may already have been high enough so I'm not sure that indicates anything.

EDIT: Oh, look at _Pow_! +1!
