Is it just me or does the weapon scaling stats suck? I've upgraded a Black Knight Greatsword with a B scaling stat and it still does less damage than the Lightning Spear +5. Now I regret putting so many points into strength :/ Lightning and I guess Fire weapons seem by far the best right now.

erm...

problem

Post-Blighttown

Beat Quellag, rang bell, well down and accidentally hit the hidden spider covenant dude who attacked me. I ran away and then a little bit later my character stopped, screamed clutched his head... and now my heads erupted into a huge spider egg sack. Doesn't seem to have any adverse effect but... I look seriously fucked up. What the hell do i do?

Cheers if anyone has any advice.

Yeah, everything seems to be geared around faith and intelligence builds. None of the weapons increase their stat scaling with upgrades like demons souls. It's also much better having more than just physical damage on a weapon, l

Yeah Faith and Intel seem the best (after endurance and vitality), damnit! So many points wasted <_<

Time to reroll into that Sorcery class I was going to make anyway.

That's why i'm so glad i started Wanderer, but ended up Pyromaniac - because the Pyro abilities are not based on any stat, so mine are pretty even across the board (except Endurance, which is maxed at 40).

This means whether i choose to specialise in Magic or Faith for NG+, i only need to work on one stat every level. Fast-track to awesomeness Part II!

Amassed 20,000 souls to openup the door in Darkroot. Good grief that was a heavy weight to carry around;most I've ever had Almost blew it on 15,000 getting blasé farming those tree things. One headgrabbed me and chomped my life away to a tiny sliver and I raced back to the bonfire but couldn't save as he was right on me. Had to turn and try one swing which took him down. I was physically sweating :) Even the weakest enemies can take you out if you get lazy/cocky/tired.

My Mrs said it was too stressful even watching me play it.

A woman and a load of blokes turned up at the cleric at Firelink. He said he was leaving, left with them and then came back ?

Guide will be here tomorrow. Playing, dreaming and reading DS

Ha, this has been my experience as well, running around with all those souls. Had a few close encounters where I nearly died on my way to pick up souls I'd dropped when I died the time before. Shakey.

I have a question regarding spells... how come I can't cycle through my pyromancy? I've bought two spells, but can only attune one. My attunement thing says I have 3 slots so I'm not sure why I can only use one?

For some reason I haven't even gone near or joined any covenants yet. I don't know why, maybe I just don't trust them. There's only 3 things I trust in this world - my weapon, my shield and my magic (ok 4 - my estus flasks as well)

I actually disagree with the idea that using the farming trick in the forest doesn't hurt the experience (pillaging good souls in the gameworld loses the excitement/impact) but I'll definitely be making those 14,000 up.

I agree. I tried to rationalize it but it just devalues a massively rewarding part of the game. No more Benny Hill farming for me.

If this were any other game I'd think you were making that up! Regardless, I may have a solution:

In the Painted World of Ariamis I came across an item that mentioned something about removing a parasitic egg, so presumably that'll sort you out.

Of course that entire area is optional and I can't remember exactly where I found said item, but there's hope at least.

Fuck off Blighttown, just fuck right off you horrible bastard. I'm still stuck at the start! Time for a cup of tea and another go (or should that be a shot of whisky, seems more Dark Souls like)

Im right there- but at last figured the best way to go on after exploring all the dead ends and collecting some .. useful.. items.

Determined* not to use any magic, ranged or miracles on my first run through and its working so far. Working on my strength now to be able to use some of the massive weapons (oo-er) and omg this game is now living up to my expectations

*the best laid plans, and all that!

A quick way out after Quelag?

any reason for using the "decent armour"? I'm in all black leather and it's doing me fine so far, Certainly being in the metal plate stuff doesn't seem to reduce damage to any amazing degree.

Well when you're talking about the difference between Leather (whatever colour), and Ornstein's Armour, then it's monumental!

I never upgrade my Vitality past 20, so defence is important. But as i was just about to type this i had a revelation - if i'm below 25% i won't need a shield, so that cuts down at least 5.0 off my Equip Burden. Happy days!

I'm fed up of switching outfits everytime i know i've gotta sprint, roll or jump. :hmm:

There's a ring that'll sort out all your troubles. I stumbled upon it quite by accident:

It allows you to move at top speed so long as you're weighed down less than 50%.

You need to kill an NPC for it.

They're part of the demonic cat's covenant.

You're looking for a nearly invisible ninja.

Also

A quick way out after Quelag?

The fastest way out I know is...

...by climbing the scaffolding around the water wheels near the swampy Blighttown bonfire. You emerge in the Valley of Drakes, walk over a plank to get into New Londo then take the elevator in a tower on your left to arrive just below the Firelink bonfire.

One of the main benefits I've found of switching to heavier armour is the Poise rating, which basically means taking damage interrupts your actions less. In my Ryu Hayabusa cosplay taking one hit could often lead to taking several more, which isn't as much of an issue now.

God damn, just when i thought i was getting to know this game, now ive jsut finished blight town and suddenly theres a whole raft of areas i can go to...too much choice!!

Blight town then eh? Bag of shite...literally! Tho once you get somewhat used to it, and can igure out where youre going, its probably only as bad as 5-2. Tho those respawning flies can suck a fucking DICK. FUCK those guys.

Summoned a very friendly chap to help me with blight town boss, he messaged me beforehand to let me know how we should attack, so we rolled up on her ass and sorted her out first time.

Almost attacked that guy endemion attacked too, thank christ ididnt, i like my head the way it is

The peashooters, respawning mosquitos, many potentially fatal falls and terrible framerate come together to make Blight Town one of the most deliciously horrible levels I've ever played through. When I reached the second bonfire I could have cried.

I just reached the first bonfire and I've never been so happy! Time to call it a night, got to get up in just under 5 hours!

Haven't had a game keep me up and playing at night for years, can't stop.....

Swapped to PS3 tonight, started a pyro with master key and went on some crazy naked loot runs, got a full suit of red caster clothes from blight town, dragon sword and umm someone's straight sword (from puke dragon), two fire embers to strengthen flasks plus all the stuf in the graveyard.

After that bombed it through to Taurus demon and polished him off without levelling up or being hit.

And now the best bit - ONLINE WORKS FUCKING GREAT ON PS3. Saw loads of phantoms, etc and got summoned all the time.

Finished outside gargoyle portal in human form with drake sword and aforementioned crazy good gear in about an hour after starting (lvl 6 lol) Can't wait to see some low level runs on this.
