We don't like waggle

You see, I like non repetitive waggle like the lightsticks in Dead Space Extraction, or the Grapple Beam in MP corruption. In small doses, waggle really adds to the inmersion. To lasso a horse?

However, I got tired of Mario spinning and Zelda sword motion after 10 minutes (Finished both anyway) Horse whipping? No please.

You exaggerate, but that's what I like. I genuinely find it more immersive. I was out of my seat spanking those bosses in Zelda, all like "Take that ya cunt!". It's how I roll. Like a prat.

Yeah man, and riding around on Epona swishing my sword ot take out badies was the ultimate zelda horseriding experience.

To be honest, I fail to see how even the most extreme daft waggle action could ever make you look like more of "prat" than being sat in your living room wearing a headset.

how can anyone not have enjoyed swishing the sword around in Zelda?

The sword play in zelda was fine for the first five minutes, then got to be a bit of a pain.

I think the majority of Joe Public would agree with this, as they'd see interacting online like that as some sort of anti-social geek fest. Yet, they'll happily spam everyone with crappy Facebook crap, as that's ok!!

To me it became tedious after about a minute. Halfway through the game I really regretted not getting the Gamecube version, but before the Wii came out I was actually quite interested in trying out this motion control lark.

the only problem with Zelda sword waggle was that it wasn't accurate enough. This will be resolved with what will be, frankly, the ASTOUNDING Skyward Sword (mark my words).

I never thought I'd type these words, but I'll be skiping the next Zelda!

Not buying a console just for one game.

don't make me type a list man...

I had a Wii, and since sold it.

The big/hyped/praised titles just didn't do it for me. I even found Mario Galaxy to be nothing more than average! I'm happy with just the PS3 these days, suits my gaming needs and wants far better.

I'm really worried about the next Zelda - spirit tracks was dire (even with clever dungeons)and its made me think that Nintendo are losing sight of what I have loved about Zelda games. World exploration has to be fun, not a boring chore. I've already not been bothered to get SMG2 so not being bothered to get the next Zelda is only a hair's width away.

That said I'm hoping that Nintendo completely blow away my concerns and come up with a barnstormer. Either way I won't be buying it for any clever waggleness but hopefully because its an excellent single person adventure RPG.

That's just weird. It's like saying "I tried steak but I didn't like it, I'm happy with ryvita these days".

Nah, it's just going with what you like. I love the Uncharted games more than anything I've played recently, Wipeout HD, Flower, Everybodys Golf, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, SuperStarDust HD, I'm dying to play GT5 and have to admit that I really enjoyed Killzone 2!! I've not even got around to trying Demons Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, God of War III or Heavy Rain yet!

That and my prefered gaming time is spent either on sports or racing games these days. The EA catalogue of Madden, NHL and FIFA excite more than most games now.

I was the old Gamecubes biggest fan. Loved it until it's long slow death, but sadly Nintendo have lost their spark for me. The real test will be the when Zelda comes out. It's been my favourite franchise since OOT, but despite it being years now since I completed TP I have no interest in the next installment yet.

The Mario Galaxy games are fucking great, but they are great despite waggle-elements and definitely not because of them.

I thought Mario Galaxy was ok, but I didn't think the Wii controls added anything at all to it. If anything a Wavebird would have been a preferable controller for it.

Make sure you don't miss it. I'm definitely not yer typical hardcore RPG player (although I do enjoy WRPGs like Fallout 3 Dragon Age) and I absolutely love it to bits. Didn't get started until last week either, but it's tremendous.

It's on my winter to do list. Once I've got the Amsterdam marathon done and my training is less and the winter has drawn in I can see me loosing a few nights to it. :)

You're like a negative of me, I hate all that stuff. Bleurgh!

Uncharted was bilge, is the sequel really that much better? I do feel like I should pay a game on my PS3 one day.

Life's rich tapestry eh?

The sequels better, but I'd say if you hated the first you'd be unlikely to enjoy the second either.

The waggle and pointing in Mario Galaxy is some of the best in any game, those elements really made it for me. Particularly shaking to launch yourself, but also rolling the ball, shooting star bits, grabbing those stretchy things etc.

It wouldn't have been anywhere near as good on a normal controller. Even if you disagree I don't care because the game is how I wanted and not how you wanted, so I win.

Interesting, I've not heard this point made before. Do elaborate.

Not actually played the Wii version, but from images it looks like the fact they made the aiming reticule much larger than the original red laser dot that probably unbalanced it.

If it adds to the conversation at all, RE5 is ludicrously easy with a mouse.
