JohnC
Jack and bobontheway unearthed this in the Random Video Thread. Thought it could do with a thread here. Seems like a rather special Christmas movie. Trailer A couple of shorts it is apparently based on, from 2003 and 2005. Probably gives a better feel of what they are aiming for than the trailer. CONTAINS NUDITY (of the non-pretty kind) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAvBliyF2Y4 No nudity this time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vepUUfWkhPs Merry Christmas everyone
Cheyenne
It's showing at next month's London Film Festival. If it isn't already sold out I'll try and snatch a ticket for one of the screenings when public bookings open on Monday.
Goose
I'm sure I read the other day that it had found a distributor.
sir stiff_one
Funnily enough I know the guy who did the voiceover for the two shorts. He did some work for us, hosted a show. Not sure but it looks like him at the start of the trailer too.

Sergeant Squid
Saw a trailer for this before Back to the Future. At first I thought it was a trailer for the new Thing movie. Then it turned out it was about Santa Claus. Very fucking weird.
schmojo
I caught this at the weekend, and thought it was very good. It's not really as weird or freaky as is made out (it's often billed as a horror for some reason) - more just an excellent Christmas adventure with some dark tones. It's all about the lead kid though, he sets the tone for most of the film.
Steven
Would really like to see this - unfortunately it's only showing at about three cinemas in the world. Something below Wimbledon would be a start.
moosegrinder
It's showing in the Showcase in Sheffield but only after the 17th. I think I may have to pop along.
Ben
I caught this at the weekend, and thought it was very good. It's not really as weird or freaky as is made out (it's often billed as a horror for some reason) - more just an excellent Christmas adventure with some dark tones. It's all about the lead kid though, he sets the tone for most of the film. Yeah, it's not a horror at all - I went into it expecting it to be much scarier. It's a good little film (and looks beautiful) but nothing too astounding - an excellent idea though.
womblingfree
I stumbled across this yesterday after the Godless carol service I'd planned to visit sold out. It harks back to an idea that the original Santa was a demonic beast who tortured naughty children. A millenia before, the beast was trapped and imprisoned in ice by villagers where he's remained ever since. Great acting by the young kids and adults with a very believable relationship between our hero and his father. Atmospheric setting in Lapland as well. Based on a short-film it does dip a little, but on the whole is very entertaining and even a little thought-provoking. Not perfect but thoroughly recommended and the best Christmas movie for years. Velse
Saw this tonight and really enjoyed it. Not what I was expecting at all! If I ever have kids I will show this to them at the earliest opportunity For those in Manchester it's on this week at the cornerhouse - http://www.cornerhouse.org/film/info.aspx?ID=3349&page=
RKID
Gonna go and watch this tonight and will report back tomorrow. Really looking forward to it now!
RKID
I went to see this at the cornerbouse last night and really enjoyed it. As stated previously where the film ends up is not where you expect from the start of it ( if that makes sense).
Quest
This was really enjoyable, though it takes ages to get going and occasionally ambles around a revelation for minutes after you've realised what's coming. The eventual payoff is worth it though, I thought. As some people have said, it's nowhere near as intense as the trailer would have you believe. If anything it reminded me of Gremlins. kloid
Loved it. Pietari - what a hero. I had to hunt around town afterwards for gingerbread (which I am currently scoffing.)
