Your both right in a way.

It's no problem if someone barges into me once or twice in a race as long as its not on purpose (you can usually tell)

But when people barge into each other on purpose even though its in the rules of the game you should be disadvantaged in some way.

If you are going into a corner with somone infront of you, even if he/she takes the corner perfect and you try and go for an inside line you have to leave enough space between you to brake so that just incase they clip the inside of the corner or something and spin out you have enough space to either stay in touch - if they get it right, or avoid them if they get it wrong.

If it happens once or twice I can accept that, everyone makes mistakes.

Ok, I don't specifically go out of my way to trash people at corners

Cause and effect. The reason I got pissed, is your little "nudges" sent me headfirst into a wall. It might not have been "on purpose" but you could easily have avoided it.

How?

If it wasn't "on purpose" then I assume someone made a mistake (ie. braked too late), couldn't avoid you and hit the back of your car going into a corner. I can't see how this is easily avoidable.

-----------------------

The thing that really annoys me is when you get through the corner and on the way out you get slammed into the barrier sideways and see another car zoom off into the distance while you come to a dead stop. That really annoys me and is likely to provoke me into dishing out some pay back. Again I know I'm not perfect and have done this to people in the past but if I get taken out by the same car several times in a single race it really winds me up.

Here is a quickly drawn, and rubbish diagram.

Red line is, for example, me. Blue line is guy who wants to get via the inside, and or brakes too late to purposely get on my inside.

bang1.jpg

BANG! T-boned and smashed off course. Very annoyed, just as you described.

People might claim this isn't wholly on purpose, but they often know what they are doing - if anyone thought about it, it's obvious that contact is going to happen here. So really they should brake more, instead of trying to barge their way through.

And at the end of the day guys, it is just a game and each race last a maximum of, what, 7 minutes or so. It's hardly the end of the world if you get smashed into a corner in one race is it?

Quite! I've already put winkies in my posts, and said it's not personal, but I feel it's right that I make my point clear.

P.s.

;):P :P :lol::D:D

Sure. Just to re-emphasise the point, I've no problems with the occasional knock or scrape, even if it puts you out of an individual race. Your true skill will shine through in the next one. I just wanted to make sure we didn't slip into "anything goes" being legitimate tactics, as it might spoil our games.

I think Jonny5 might have a point about defending your line. If you've got someone right behind you, you might not want to go wide into a corner, even if that would be the best line. If someone gets alongside you on the inside, and you run out of road, there aren't going to be any marshalls to impose a stop go penalty on your rival...

Yes I agree entirely.

Chances are I just moan to much ;)

The only thing I don't want to do is defend the line, then have some mofo ram up the back of me and...

I don't ram people on purpose and if it does happen, it would be cos of my general crapness.

The only exceptions to this are:

a ) When I'm actually side by side with someone and we are both pushing into each other a bit.

b ) Similar to above but approaching a corner / road narrows. The number of times I've kept going and all the other person had to do was tap their brakes, either to follow me, or pass me on the inside but they didn't. Only to end up hitting a wall etc...

^ Spirit of the game I'd say tho?

I can't check at the moment but I'm sure I saw a "Collision off" option in the Live menu. Next time one of you is online, host a game and have a look, I believe it's right at the top.

This could make you a happy man Penguin Lad ;)

But you get no Kudos then.

I still like the idea that there's an object in the way you have to pass. Driving on things like the ghost challenge is one thing, but driving against people is a whole other skill! Finding that perfect line to just get inside them, or outside them, is what it's all about...

Mind you it's worth a try. And as we've discussed, the Kudos rank means little...except extra token.s

You can only do 15 laps of the uUrburgring.

Oh and you have all(Penguin Lad, Layte 100) lost to me. Loads.

I declare myself the winner!

GO ME!

Yes well I like racing against you BS, you always give me something to aim at, and you don't seem like a dirty bastard! Or maybe that's because you are zooming away ahead of me most of the time...;)

I was rushing at work earlier so didn't say that the peeps on here that I race are always the best behaved when it comes to ramming and have provided some of the most enjoyable racing experiences I've had online.

I love you guys... ;)

Me too man. *sniff*

Even when you beat me, you bastard.

Yes, i must say. I've had live for about 2 months but not really used it, but ended up playing PGR2 from 7-12 non-stop  - that's my longest gaming session for ages and ages.

Was a great laugh, took me an hour to figure out that when the light is green on the controller, people can hear you ;)

But i apologise for being a tad, well, shit.

There's been a few times, and indeed recently on the Nurburgring, when I've changed the light to red, and then forgotten that I've done it.

So I'm there swearing away asking for help (cat n mouse) and generally being quite vocal.

Of course then at the end of the race I look down and see I've been on mute for nigh on 15 minutes, and have in fact been talking to no one.

Idiot.

Actually, having spent a night racing while thinking about what I said earlier on here, I've changed my mind.

I'm a dirty barstard when I'm racing and block people, bash into them while braking and slam them into the wall on the way through corners.

Sorry. <_<

Hmmm, I just can't seem to get to grips with the triggers as accelerate/brake buttons.

I've been a GT3 whore for so long, I don't think I'll ever get used to it. I know it's not analog and all, but I think I'll switch back to A/X... any of you guys had the same problem?

Try keeping the accel trigger down all the time, and feathering the brake when you need it rather than using one or the other.

Works for me.

I'm fine with using the triggers, its much more sensitive than the buttons.

Also you can quickly 'flick' the brakes going between full pressing and not at all and you can turn into corners at much tighter angles then just holding the brakes down.

I daren't play any more in case I get called a ruddy cheat, a bounder, a cad or - worst of all - an utter rotter! :o

Scum. You sicken me. I can't even look at your avatar.
