The Pools Panel Machine has spoken.

CSKA xyzgames was awarded two wins vs. Gambit, both 3-2 home and away. A very good home goals scored and low goals conceded saw him through, with a slight boost for good form in the last 6 games (DWWDWD).

This saw SaintM and xyzgames end the season on the same points total, and the same goal difference...after points and goal difference, the leauge is decided on the team with the highest number of wins, so SaintM is crowned Champion, due to having 1 more win accross the season, 15 vs. 14. Congratulations to both on your promotion, on what must surely be the closest ever league title race*. :)

*calling Tyler to the thread, stats needed. Repeat, stats needed.

Unlucky mate.

You've been a worthy opponent over the season and we're so closely matched that even our three games this season have ended up with a win each and draw shared.

I'm sure you'll be gunning for me next season to redress the balance.

Thanks to everyone for a great season.

Whether or not Martins will be terrorising your defences next season is still open. ;)

edit: Also the same amount of goals scored and conceded. Jeez it was close.

I thought this game was already played mitch (check previous page), it wasn't included in my notes so i may of missed it if one side had yet to confirm.

Gambit secured two wins against Kazit, but the Pools Panel Machine deducted these 6 points due to non attendance. Charliemouse Vs. Kirky ended 2-2 in game one, with Kirky taking all 3 points in the 2nd match 2-1. This saw Kirky finish in 4th place, with Charlie end up in playoffs and 6th. Congratulations both, and good luck!

Pants and Billy limped out of the season and played to two 1-1 draws. With Pants already relegated, and Billy in 8th, everyone just sighed a little bit.

Could you not have deducted Gambit another 13 points? That just seems like a fair amount given the circumstances, y'know?

Charliemouse vs. Kirky was indeed already played and submitted, so no changes there. I was a bit trigger happy and had already got the PPM to work out the result earlier in the week!

Congrats SaintM and really bad luck xyz. It's a bit shit losing via pools panel and so narrowly with points and GD equal (you even scored the same amount of goals ffs!) but Saint is a worthy champion

I had hoped the PPM would have given one of the matches as a draw to avoid it looking so harsh on xyz. Gambit hadn't lost away and xyz at home, so a draw must have been quite close to reality. Then again, the other game could have been give two clear goals for the win and I'd have missed out by 1 GD.

It's a funny old game.

It was very close. Two small things that tipped the games in xyz's favour. His defence was slightly better home and away, but his form just pushed the goals scored in both games to 3, as opposed to 2.

That 5th goal I scored against TommyMAT essentially won the title. If I had suspected the importance of it there is every chance id have fluffed it.

You were spot on, it was 0.1!

Gambit had a form boost of 0.2, xyz a boost of 0.3. The results without form would've been 2-2 in both games (1.8 vs 2.3, 2.3 vs. 2.0). With added form just pushing xyz into 3 goals territory (2.0 vs. 2.6, 2.6 vs. 2.2). One of them was actually 2.556....so it was even closer than just '0.1'. ANYWAY.

Who decided that, the pools panel is rubbish I was on a good run towards the end of the season and would have least of secured a point to raise me from the foot of the table!

The pools panel is a rubbish end to the season but it is fair. Gambit was also on a pretty good run before going AWOL so it's not inconceivable that he'd have won both games

Never mind mate - based on our games I think you'll be finishing next season with the title in the Conference

The Pools Panel Machine apologises to break this to you, but you were worse than Gambit in all 5 criteria used to calculate these results. You had a worse goals scored record at home and away, a worse goals conceded record home and away, and worse form in the last 6 games. This lead to two wins for Gambit, 3-2 at home and 3-1 away.

The Pools Panel Machine is mildly depressed and sighs at the accusation that it is rubbish, and wishes you luck next season in the Conference.

Holy shit...I ended up 3rd :) Nice surprise on my return from Mehiko!!

And we face each other in the play offs again. :hug:

Me and Kirky are playing our semi on Wed at 9.30. It'd be quality if you two can play at the same time and then the two winners playing the final straight after? :eyebrows: (Assuming Kirky is OK with this if he wins our semi?)
