The USA haven't lost a basketball game in a long time, but the Aussies are giving it a right good go. 4 pts up at HT. Highly entertaining too, and much better quality than the group stage games I saw.

*edit* the us have won 38 consecutive Olympic games and 4 consecutive gold medals.

The Aussies were blown away by the US in the end in the 3rd quarter. Shame. But the US were better, and that told in the end as Oz tired a bit and got a bit wayward. John Amechi reckoned it was the best basketball game of this Olympics, men or women.

Nooooooooooo!!

This is the second devastating blow of the week, after hearing in Park Live that Jessica Ennis is engaged.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

To be honest, Jason Kenny seems like like such a nice guy I can't be too angry with him. They make a great couple.

This USA v JPN women's football final is pretty entertaining (not enough for you guys to switch over from Bolt Blake Rd 2, but still). The atmosphere is much better than the men's MEX v JPN Semi, where I'd describe the mood of the crowd as "polite interest". It is a big weird being at a game that isn't insanely partisan, and fair play is expected by the crowd. The technical standard is very high too, although Japan could have done with Andy Carroll up front just now for a leaping power header: her effort barely trickled into the 6 yard box.

800m world record :omg:

David Rudisha, take a bow, that was ridiculous!

Absolutely. Been watching athletics since the days when Coe was in his prime, and that was something else. The sheer speed of the guy. And the guy who came second in an 800m race running 1.41.73 or so - that's bang on Coe's world record, which stood for 16 years.

Truly amazing scenes.
