Pinball Games - Pinball FX, Pinball Arcade, etc

Interested to play that then, if there's a complaint to be made about Pinball FX it's that the tables are too easy in general although that's largely down to extra ball / multiball generosity and the relative ease of death saves on a lot of tables.

Oh FFS. I load up Steam and Pinball FX 2 has a 3.2GB update. The notes say they've improved stereo sound quality.

I have to manage my bandwidth quite carefully... 3.2GB is quite a big chunk that I could spend better elsewhere. I only play about 4 old tables on the whole damn game. However because the download started, it must be completed before I can do anything. I don't want the download. I want to play my old installation as it was. I don't want my ISP to write me letters about being a heavy user. Wat do?

The new Southpark tables are really good. Really annoying sfx but really solid tables. You get two for £3.99 on xbla - no option to buy separately. Nobody on my friends list owns them. Also got The Walking Dead and Gurdians. Both solid tables too.

Christ, I've still not even got round to playing the last Star Wars pack or Dr Strange or anything yet.

Dr Strange is really shit.

A shame this isn't more popular really.

Not really. All the tables are pretty terrible and lack the fundamental flow of a decent pinball machine.

I absolutely rinsed Zen Pinball and Marvel Pinball on 3DS and have played all the demo tables, bought Street Fighter, Plants Vs Zombies and a few others and they're just utter crap.

You need to buy the table on either Vita or PS3 if you intend to play it on PS4 too. If you buy it on PS4 first you won't be able to Vita/PS3, is the way I remember it.

They might have patched it so you don't need to do it that way, this info was when the PS4 version was new.

Edit: So yes, everything I've bought on Vita has gone to PS3 and 4.

Edit 2: And you can turn the Vita screen sideways!

Nice! Currently I use a 22 inch widescreen monitor, laying flat on the table that I plug my laptop into for a better view of the table. It's a lot less disorienting when the viewport of the table isn't moving constantly.

Yeah, one thing I've always wished they would put in is a custom angle, zoom and x/y co-ordinate option there's many more than one where I felt like I'm settling things with a toss-up between two views that are almost but not quite right.

I haven't even tried any of probably the last dozen I've bought! It's one of those things where I played an awful lot more when there were fewer tables, now it just seems like there's too many so I never can decide what to play and so don't bother. Nice of get a different theme for a change though, it's way too heavy on Marvel and Star Wars even though I love that stuff, but I'd assume the cost of licensing means they've got to milk it a bit.

edit: Just counted up, and I've not yet played any of at least the last 20 tables I've bought for it

@Vimster

These always offer more in depth detail on the tables than ingame https://blog.zenstudios.com/?page_id=637

And don't worry about scores, happy to have someone in the friends leaderboards at all! Sparse isn't the word, presumably as a result of the score reset @beenabadbunny mentioned, shame as there used to be at least a few in each.

Whilst Steam reckoned I'd put less than an hour into this (can't believe that) I did notice the boards were a bit bare. That explains it.

I thought I was the only one. I just bought 8 more tables and may well buy a couple more before the Steam sale is done (are the South Park tables worth it?). I'm not the best person to pontificate on this but pinball is something where you need to concentrate on a table and really get to know it, something at odds with having access to 20+ tables. I thought it was bad enough back in the day getting four tables with Pinball Fantasies! But the discounts on the tables during sales is so deep it would be almost foolish not to take advantage.

One thing, is the Street Fighter 2 table not in the Steam version? I assume it's down to licensing with Capcom. A shame as I used to quite enjoy the simplicity of that one.

Yeah I bought Portal, South Park and PvZ for 50p each in the steam sale. My mate at work has every single highscore though. I used to have quite a few on 360, like Spiderman. I'm fucking rubbish these days though. He must have spent hours on each table racking up those scores.

Added! Let me know his name and I'll add him as well, unless he's like really really (really) good.
