Its not open world. All tracks are made with an editor thats included with the game.

A racing game with an editor is almost instant win for me (esp. as its by Bugbear). But i'll only take it if i can elevate the roads properly (and not with ramps).

I went to the cinema the other night and saw loads of incredibly over-the-top arcade racing games that we don't see enough of in the home. They looked brilliant.

We're up to our shitting eyeballs in sims and arcade sims, and while we do have Burnout (which has been a bit 'feh' of late) and Split/Second, there's plenty of room for another batshit mental racer. Bring it on, I say.

Thing is, many arcade racers have no hook.

You've had powersliding, crashing, police chases, Spaceships, car chases, off road and Destrcution Derby. Oh and rally.

What we now need is Bike destruction and... people destruction.

And theres only two franchises that do those. Sadly one of them invovles EA.

PGR is meant to make its comeback soon though.

Woah. Edge really sold that short.

Even at worst it'll be as good as trackmania and we ain't got TM on the console. So thats a win.

I had faith in you Bugbear. I held your flag aloft thought thick and thin!

Screw Ridge Racer...this has fun written all over it.

Perhaps it might have been an idea for them to show some of this footage earlier.. the game is out next week and there's no hype for it at all..

Will probably buy it based off this video now though...

My opinion of this game keeps swinging back and forth between apathy and admiration. I'm kind of disappointed that it's more about explosions and destruction rather than classic circuit races and silly drifts, but then I see something like DAT EDITOR and I go all wibbly with excitement.

I've had this in opre-order for ages because of Bugbear, not it being ridge racer which I gave up on a long time ago.

Read in the past the editor is just a big jigsaw basically where you slide blocks into a pre defined grid, looks very easy to use and I think all courses in the game are designed using it, could result in UGC being a little generic but as long as the core game is fun its a cherry on the cake.

Ridge Racer on the Vita is ok but I can't say I'm as impressed with it as you are. So much so I haven't gone back to it since the Vita launch. I'm interested in this purely because of Bugbear who are a fucking awesome racing dev. If it had been developed by Namco I wouldn't have been as keen.
