Binary Domain

I love how he storms through Shotgun in hand, blowing cyborg legs, heads and arms off.

There's something really satisfying about shooting robots.

I will definetely buy this but if Sonic Generations is £17.99 2 weeks after release then what hope does this have at remaining full price?

Still for £17.99 I will be all over this bad boy!

This looks fun but I'm more interested in that, since this is the Yakuza team, if they'll use Binary Domains controls as a basis for the western release of Yakuza Of The End (Dead Souls). They said they were going to change them so I'm interested in how they'll handle it, especially after their experience in developing this.

I don't think the 2 teams are that closely related, Binary Domain has a lot of gaikokujin staff, which makes sense if you're trying to make a game aimed at Americans.

Ah I thought this was the actual Yakuza team taking a break and doing something else (Binary Domain of course) before making Yakuza 5 ? I didn't think it was a different team which is why I was wondering about the western release controls for Yakuza Of The End as Nagoshi said they'd change them for that audience. Maybe I got that wrong then.

Feb 24? I know this game is not going to sell well, but just look at the cover!

Really???

Even some sort of Terminator face would do the job, this just looks cheap 505 games stuff!

Edit : I predict this been in the list of 'Forgotten Gems'

It looks to have a narrative with very high production values like the Yakuza series. Albeit one that'll be lost on a Western audience who'll be clueless as to the voice-actors involved. Be nice if there was a choice between languages. Love the animations, no one does in-game drama like Nagoshi's lot. Gameplay looks like a mash-up of Gears and Vanguish. The suit 'Dan' wears even looks the same.

Anyway, it'll probably sell shed-loads in Japan and next to nothing anywhere else. Which probably means it'll turn a huge profit from the Japanese market alone, in similar fashion to most Japanese or French movies that have the luxury of being able to make a profit at home.

Such a shame the marketing for these is always so cack-handed though. I'm convinced of the mass-market appeal of Yakuza and this (if it's as promising as it looks), but with bugger all exposure and box-art that screams car-boot-sale knock-off. Well, thank god they keep releasing games over here at all.

I'm not convinced it'll do all that well in Japan either. They're far less keen on shooters than we are. The Yakuza connection will help, but the contemporary setting is a big part of that game's appeal. I'd be surprised if it did the same numbers as Yakuza. Hope I'm wrong, though.

That would be tragic. Too niche Japanese for the West, and too Western for the Japanese. Still, I have hope for its Japanese sales as it seems to be very much story-driven. Not sure how playing as a US-everyman called 'Dan' will go down though...

That European box art is glorious. Hand-drawn art on boxes is always good to see, and it's a fine piece. Far better than the usual bland CG renders we tend to get these days. It's as if Sega got the European and Japanese box arts mixed up.
