Playstation Vita

I think the price is ridiculously competitive, ignoring the poor exchange rate. I reckon it'll take some of the iPod Touch's marketshare.

Also:

Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath coming to PS Vita this holiday season, with cross platform cloud saves.

I want some confirmation re: this cloud functionality. Between this conference and the Konami one about ZOE HD Collection it's implied you'll be able to take your saves from the PS3 version over to the Vita, but will I have to buy the game twice to do that- or will it be some Steam-on-PS3-like, Project $10 voucher that grands me the Vita version for free?

They should really do it like Bluray films packed with the DVD version as well. Buy a PS3 version of a game, get the vita version for free (or significantly reduced at least). It would be a great incentive to ignore 360 versions of multi-format titles.

The alternate is having people not bother with the vita version because its too similar to the console version (or vice-a-versa) - and from the look of some of the titles that could be a big problem later down the line.

Totally. If the Vita gives me home console quality gaming I'm hardly going to fork out twice to get it on my home console.

I believe all the cross-platform games announced are downloadable titles — Ruin, Dust 514, Stranger's Wrath, Munch's Odyssey — so it's possible buying one version automatically grants you the other. At the very least I could see there being a discount, i.e. you can pay 25% of the initial asking price to upgrade to a Cross Play version.

This is an instant buy for me. The features where it lets you link up to the PS3, the games (Uncharted, Wipeout and Bioshock Infinite) and the price means it'll be rude not too.

Not only that but the software support for this thing is amazing. Price was always going to be the one issue where Sony could have messed up, its one of the main things that hurt the original PSP but it looks like Sony have really got it right this time. I dont think anyone was expecting it to be released at this price ($300 was what most people were expecting). The only negative I can think of is that the much nicer white model seems to have disappeared and all we have is black, other than that Sony has got everything else right. Day 1 for me

£260 for the 3G model? £215 for the regular? That's a rounding off of the Euro values.

Personally I'm unsure about that RRP. I'm really looking forward to the Vita; I have a PSP-3000 and I use it frequently, but when it comes down to it, no matter how good it may be, it's still a handheld console and those values are a lot of money. I suppose that those are the RRP and it remains to be seen how much retailers actually sell it for, come release - I mean the 3DS dropped in price pretty quickly.

Question though; 3G - is it fast enough for multiplayer gaming outside of turn-based strategy titles? I've never played a multiplayer mobile phone game.

That's an amazing price, even by sonys 'selling hi tech at a loss' standards. My goodness just how much money are they will to lose on each unit, incredible.

Certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons and really shows the folly of Nintendo releasing at their original price point. Especially when they didn't have to..

Nintendo better have some absolutely amazing games on show ...

Er. 250 is too expensive. It's still just a handheld toy after all.

Its hardly a toy, its feature set is unbelievable for that money. Theyre selling it at a loss man. If wipeout does the biz, i'm there day one, and I swore i'd not buy another handheld. What with the games running off solid state aswell, there's not even any need to hack it.
