Playstation Vita

The absolute cherry on top, would be if they can finally reverse the retail/download price, and have the games sell for 29.99 via the PSN, and 39.99 in store. It makes total sense to do it, it just depends how much of a stick the retailers can still wield.

Even the PC, where retail has actively helped kill off the format and digital is getting on for a significant market share doesn't do much price reduction for new digital releases, even when they cut out the middle-man, I ain't holding my breath, even when physical retail has completely disappeared.

There is one thing I hope will arrive for this (or it gets effectively built-in), PSVMC, the PSP had a very good AVC decoding engine built-in, it was limited more by artificial restrictions than raw decoding power.

Sony haven't talked much about the potential other capabilities of Vita, the hardware is capable, it just needs to be unleashed from artificial restrictions.

I love you.

Hehe.

One of the first Japanese video game TV commercials I saw, and an absolute favorite ever since. Never played the actual game though.

Been trying to find more info on Gravity Daze too. Not much at the mo', but tbh, this is the kind of game that will probably sell the PS Vita to me. Along with WipEout 2048 and Street Fighter X Tekken.

(man, I already want one... )

Here's what I was able to dig up...

Prepare yourself for a new perspective in gaming in this visually stunning cel-shaded adventure. Take gravity into your own hands as you take the role of a heroine seeking her past and the means to protect her future in a world that's falling apart. Shift from streets to walls and buildings as you manipulate gravity to save a city from its enemies and perils.

* Move the World Around You - Manipulate gravity to help you move around each open world, shifting your perspective and the action to complete dozens of missions spanning several worlds.

* Full Motion Control - Use the PlayStation®Vita gyro sensor to control gravity. Use the front and back panels to quickly react to shifting surroundings and dodge enemy attacks.

* Graphic Novel Storytelling - Experience beautiful cel-shaded graphics brought to life through OLED technology, delivering crisp and vivid colors to life.

And a few hands on previews

Finally, some demo footage...

I knew that, but wanted to be sure. Thanks.

So, no other significant advantages then?

None.

Very tempted to pre-order, but I'll hold fire until we know what the launch titles will be.

And apologies if mentioned, but it looks like it might be region free. :D

Sony are really delivering with this.

Gonna place a preorder; what do people think about the 3G functionality? I mean, do you have to pay monthly for that kind of service? And 3G isn't fast enough for multiplayer gaming, is it? Unless it's turn based.

Nothing's confirmed, but I'm hoping it'll work like Kindle 3G support, where you have a small, but totally free, monthly allowance.

The article doesn't say we'll get it before the US.

Was referring to this, dude:

If true, you'll be able to import the PlayStation Vita from Japan without fear of incompatibility with European games. Why import? Because presumably Vita will be released in Japan before everywhere else.

Speculation on part on the writer perhaps? I haven't read anything to suggest Japan will be getting it first.

Might've been tiredness but I could've sworn at the conference they said it was coming to America first.

I hoped this too, but I think it's unlikely since they announced a partnership with AT&T. Could be part of the PS+ subscroption for Vita maybe?

They said Japan will get it first and before Christmas. It wasn't at the conference but in an interview afterwards.

At about 4:35 here:

Thanks for the link, the exact quote is...

“It's coming out Fiscal Year 2012 and we hope to atleast get it out in one region by the end of the Calendar year – hopefully Japan”
