Purple and orange totems. Gems, score, and score frenzy bonuses. Only try and match in the top half of the screen. Saving the bottom matches for when more crystals drop to keep the combo going. I've had a 22 minute game before but only just hit 100 mill with that one, So keeping a combo going is more score beneficial than hunting for totem or time bonus matches, unless you're about to run out of time

That is my set-up too. But 30mil is still my best. And around 3-4 mins my longest game. 22mins? Fook. The mind boggles at how fast you must process the board. If I see a match I take it, otherwise the combo tends to break. I think I might also have an over-reliance on the ? button...

More practice I guess!

Are all your bonuses fully maxed out? That really helps. I NEVER use the ? Button. I know there are some YouTube videos that recommend it, but I can't get on with it. A couple of tips: try not to match purple or orange gems unless you either have another to match straight away to activate the totem, or plenty on the board so that if you shuffle, you'll be able to get another straight away for the totem. Try not to overfill your board with bonuses, as quite often a purple totem might change a time bonus into something else. If you ever get kickout mode, use it tactically to set up matches for totems or 4+ matches. If the board matches a purple or orange match for you, it doesn't count towards your totem activation, but you can get around this by moving the gem to a non match space before the board drops. So when it cancels (as there's no available match) it puts it back where it was, and giving you the match you wouldn't have got originally. You can also sometimes use this technique to keep combos going. Practice is definitely good, but the game is fun anyway. I must be near the 100 hrs playtime by now (and therefore 100% trophy completion) but ill still keep playing it after

I am at around 29 hours... not even half way, but I am adamant this will be the one platinum I DO get.

Soul Sacrifice this week. :) Still undecided as to if I'll get it on day one or wait it out a bit, but if enough people here go for it I'll probably want to get in on the co-op funs. It should be on PSN on Wednesday and in stores on Friday, although my memory card space will probably make me go for the physical release. :P

Sony are really managing PR for this stuff very well, MS are fucking it up mightily (machine's good, store's good, relationships with developers...). If they can get rid of individual submissions & TCRs to each region then that would also greatly improve their process. It's good that Sony are recognising the world is changing and how things were done in the past isn't how they should be done moving forward and are fixing that.

Well, some (Edge and EG) scores are in. Could see them a mile off after the demo. I love playing Guess The Score by reading their tweets, I must be 95% accurate. Could tell EG would go a little easier on it.

Oh Shahid, never stop what you are doing!

My mission? To sign as many indies to PlayStation as I can before I explode or get sacked. Call me committed. Or have me committed.

But not just indies. Bigger devs too. And IP holders. And publishers. I might have a surprise or two for you.

I wonder what could be coming!

Some of the criticisms in the Edge and Eurogamer reviews of Soul Sacrifice are at odds with what I've played of the demo.

The different spells 'feel' quite distinct to me, a bit like the weapons in Monster Hunter: individually wielding each doesn't have the same depth, but you can have up to six different ones equipped at a time. Similarly the elemental attributes make a big difference depending on the monster type you're facing, both in terms of susceptibility and utility.

As for Edge suggesting you can paint yourself into a corner by not balancing your power levels, in the demo there are Sigils which allow you to redress such specialisation; one lowers your defence by 25% whilst boosting your attack by 50%, for instance. I believe you can also delevel your Diving or Dark power if you accidentally raise one more than you wanted.

Obviously I'm in no position to review the game myself, just pointing out what I see as inconsistencies with my own experience. When an outlet is complaining about running out of spell charges it does rather give the impression of 'doing it wrong'.

Crikey that Edge review is a bit harsh.

But fair. Grinding for duplicate offerings just so that you can stand a chance of survival without exhausting your resources is already evident in the demo, and the range of offerings you collect can make them seem a bit disposable. And yes, it is a streamlined brawler in comparison to MH. The rough edges are part of the reason why I'm thinking of waiting a while and picking it up later, but as I mentioned up there I like the fact that it's a streamlined brawler and I've really enjoyed it in multiplayer, and so I might just get it anyway for the best opportunity to play online (ie. before everyone's deserted it :P )

I'm keen on getting a VITA I think, what with PS+, I'm not ready to get one until I've had a few months of PS+ under my belt though, so I've a bit of a catalogue to play.

With that in mind, I want to make sure that I can download all the VITA games in the future. It's just a matter of me 'downloading' the games each month on the PS3 (then deleting them) so I can redownload them when I get a VITA?

Is that right?

Ah right, so I don't need to actually download the lot. Better!

What sort of price are people looking for a Wifi Vita these days? And what is 'cross play' does that mean I can play any PS3 game on the Vita ala' Wii U?

Excuse my ignorance.

Not quite, no. Generally it refers either to games where buying one version entitles you to the other at no extra cost, so for instance Pinball Arcade, Guacamelee and stuff like that you can buy on the PS3 and get the Vita version for free and vice versa.

Also, some PS3 games allow you to use the Vita as a controller and have extra functions available for doing so, but the only one I'm aware of (and have played) is Little Big Planet 2.
