However, how are they going to handle the missing triggers?

Touch screen, either front or rear. Just have one half be L2 and the other R2 so you don't have to be precise and it would work fine I reckon.

Mr Jeff man don't worry about that rear touch pad, it'll be fine. It's also implemented so poorly in basically everything I've played that you'll soon lose the will to take care of it that much.

I really don't understand why Sony aren't supporting the Vita more. It was an atrocious E3 showing, yet there are actually quite a few games there. For some reason Sony neglected to mention any of them. If a large amount of games are going to be ports you'd think they could at least do them right.

The problem with basing Vita on Sony's big event is that they were always going to be limited in what they could show when they were launching a new platform which is where the focus was always going to be. The immediate "big hitters" coming up are all fairly well known or have been around before and everyone already knows about the indie games. There are a few other games but they aren't system sellers or doing anything unique, something like Ys and Muramasa for example is a known quantity.

As for new titles to announce, we still have Gamescon in two months and TGS in three. It might be worth waiting until TGS to decide where Sony's support is. Japan Studio hasn't shown anything for a while, neither have the European studios. With only so much attention and time with so many games being shown, E3 isn't necessarily a good yardstick to measure a lack of focus on one machine.

I agree Sony sped through the Vita section of their presser, but they did the PS3 section as well. Granted Vita is the newer platform but PS4 is even newer still and has a big launch coming up. With Plus/indies keeping the system ticking over in gathering support and the upcoming PS4 support, I can see Sony pushing the system more when it naturally falls into more peoples hands.

That said, I too would prefer Sony made more noise about the games that are out over the next few months. Not that third parties are any better, what with Square still not dating or releasing much info for FFXHD despite announcing it almost two years ago.

Sony have formally announced the 'Mega Pack' now. This should be a great push for the system. :)

Sony has announced the Vita 'Mega Pack', which bundles ten digital games with an 8GB memory card.

Featuring the likes of LittleBigPlanet Vita, WipeOut 2048 and MotorStorm RC, it'll be available from June 21, priced at €39.99

The Mega Pack will also be released in some territories as part of a new Wi-Fi Vita hardware bundle priced at €249.99. Available now in France, Spain, Portugal and Israel, it's due to launch in Austria, Switzerland and Germany on June 26 and in the UK on June 28. We've asked Sony for UK prices.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/415311/vita-mega-pack-offers-10-games-and-a-memory-card-for-euro40/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RSS

Edit: According to the PlayStation blog (where CVG have got their "scoop" from) UK RRP is £34.99 for the card and £219.99 for the hardware bundle.

Jak & Daxter is being marked as being Cross-Buy on the PlayStation Blog. That wasn't known was it? That at least means if the framerate does suck on the Vita version you can still play it on the PS3.

Unit 13 and Ninja Gaiden for PS+ next month

I knew I shouldn't have been tempted by the price-drop on the store a few weeks ago.

Blaz Blue Continuum Shift Extend Limited £10 at zavvi

At that price I can't say no, even though I recently got the True End on story mode on a rental copy. The sort of game I would expect to seen on Plus eventually, so I wouldn't have bought the normal edition just in case.

edit:

Even if it does go on Plus it's almost 4gb.

It's up on US Plus now, leaves on the 25th.

Tempted by Persona 3. I enjoyed 4 and have nearly finished it. How does 3 compare for those that have played both?

P4 has a bit more variety to it in that there are multiple dungeons with a dozen floors in each one; P3 has you scaling a 200+ floor dungeon over the course of the game's calendar. The scenery and music changes as you ascend to new levels, but it has a very different "rhythm" to 4. There are more story-centric dungeons that have to be completed roughly every month and see you exploring slightly more interesting locations, but a lot of your time will be spent in the main dungeon.

A lot of the things that make P4 great are also in P3 - the social links, the jobs, the elemental weakness system, the shuffle time, persona collecting, fusion, tests at school, holiday outings - and so if you liked those things you'll enjoy them here. The story in P3 is also just as charming and entertaining, and the music and presentation is still excellent. I think some people might consider 3 to be a bit tougher than 4 in that you're more likely to be smacked down and sent back to the title screen, although I've played both of the games so much that I know them pretty well and can't comment that much.

I think 4 is better than 3 in general, but I think both are on another level of awesome compared to most other JRPGs I've played. Although I might be slightly biased. :P

Tempted to get MGS and Peace Walker but IIRC the PAL version of MGS isn't the best. Half considering getting another memory card for the PS1 stuff I want and going with the US store stuff but knowing my luck they'll probably change how all that region/account stuff works when the PS4 arrives and I'll end up regretting it. I wouldn't mind but I've bought some of those games several times already.

As a side note, I spotted P4G on sale for $29.99 in the US store so it might be worth holding out a little bit for a similar offer over here if it's on your 'to get' list.

They're mechanically very similar as P3P's battles were updated to be more like P4's. The most obvious difference is that you use a cursor to navigate and interact with the world outside of dungeons, although this does mean that getting about is very snappy and there's basically no loading.

The third game is a bit darker in tone. I expect it'll take a little while to warm up to the characters coming off Golden, but I'd say they're a good cast in their own right. You can choose the gender of the protagonist, too, which alters your interactions with people to an extent.

The game is easily worth £10-12 of anyone's money.

My £10 Blazblue kind of arrived today, it had been opened and someone's taken the cart out and left all the shit I was going to put in the bin in. Happened to a guy on Gaf too which is weird. First and probably last Zavvi order, that.

Ah Game. How reliable you are in your nefarious deeds.

Ordered the Vita and Soul Sacrifice bundle which arrived today and sure enough, the game is a boxed copy rather than a download version as I thought.

Also as I expected, this "new" console is a preowned one that they've shoved in instead since the seal is clearly broken and it looks like someone's been rubbing a jumper all over it.

The thing is, the console look pretty immaculate I have to say but I deliberately paid the extra price for a new console rather than pick up one of their cheap £99 ones earlier in the month. I'm wondering if it's going to be too petty to email them back and say "Umm, this was meant to be new?"

Although knowing them, the response will be "Actually, the 'New' refers to the condition of the game and not the console.".

That said, the little I've seen of the machine is amazing. It is a sexy, sexy beast.

Holy shitz  I've logged a message through the order history bit so we'll see what happens.

I've fired messages at two of their twitter accounts. First time I've actually ordered a game with them.

J+D being cross buy makes me more interested in picking it up, simply because the digital version is cheaper than the ps3 retail version anyway and I've been tempted before.

edit: the ps3 version is £15 at Amazon at the moment, compared to £28 at Shopto.

So what's the best deal for a Vita at the moment, used or new? Is it the £150 Game deal?

I have some games o trade in (about £50 worth) so am thinking of trading them in, getting a Vita and then getting the Mega Pack in a few weeks.

Well see I considered that they might just have opened it as some kind of quality control but if it's factory new, why do you need to check it again.

It's the dishonesty of it that gets me. I could've saved money and got the preowned version on it's own for cheaper but I like buying "new".

I'll fire them off an email and see what they say. I know it's being pointlessly picky but still.

I still have to an interminable wait for my 32GB card from amazon anyway so it's not like I can use it immediately anyway.

Yes I would say so, just get it from a store ;)

If you're trading in, then getting a second hand one from cex is probably a good bet

I did think about CEX but ours smells of piss and whilst I might lose out on up to a tenner of trade in value at least I won't have to smell piss.

My local Game (Hull) price matches CEX for trade ins. When they offer you a trade value, just get them price match CEX for you. They usually add on £1 per item too

It's directly opposite, I'll take a look at the CEX values first then

Edit: Can I just use the online tool and show them a screenshot or something or do I actually have to go to CEX first and get some kind of quote? Also, is it against the cash or trade-in price?

I think they like to see it on a smart phone. I only had access to my Ipod Touch so I just preloaded the cex website with the games listed and showed them that. It's the trade in price and they'll also beat each one by £1.
