Ah Game. How reliable you are in your nefarious deeds.

Ordered the Vita and Soul Sacrifice bundle which arrived today and sure enough, the game is a boxed copy rather than a download version as I thought.

Also as I expected, this "new" console is a preowned one that they've shoved in instead since the seal is clearly broken and it looks like someone's been rubbing a jumper all over it.

The thing is, the console look pretty immaculate I have to say but I deliberately paid the extra price for a new console rather than pick up one of their cheap £99 ones earlier in the month. I'm wondering if it's going to be too petty to email them back and say "Umm, this was meant to be new?"

Although knowing them, the response will be "Actually, the 'New' refers to the condition of the game and not the console.".

That said, the little I've seen of the machine is amazing. It is a sexy, sexy beast.

They did this to me instore with a 'new' PSP. Got home and found a used console with a peeling screen protector and even food stuck to it. Marched back to the store and the manager refused to acknowledge that it was second hand :D I was staggered. I remember posting a thread about it at the time. The 'replacement' they eventually gave me looked perfect (for some reason I didn't think to ask for a new factory sealed box) but I later realised that the latch on the battery compartment was broken :( Ended up taking it back to another store and the guy in there was awesome to be fair; they gave me a new factory sealed PSP. But I've been annoyed with GAME ever since to be honest.

Is £125 for a second hand wi-fi unit from Game a good deal? I know at one point in stores just before E3 they had £99 units, but those are long gone I imagine. Is £150 for a new one plus the game probably a better investment right? Then get this new mega-pack separately?

I think it's ok yeah. I said it earlier but you can grab some real bargains from Ebay if you have a look - I ended up paying £88 for a new Vita with an official case. If you're willing to go second hand you can get one even cheaper than that but you take the risk of getting one in poor condition - although it's not like Game is a safe bet either :D

Cash Converters have them for £115 preowned (and you can make an offer, fuck knows it they ever accept them).

I'd probably go with the £150 Game deal if you don't want to use ebay.

Bit worried now that someone above ordered the £150 one from Game and it was seemingly second hand. At least if I'm going second hand I can go into the store and inspect the unit before purchasing. Will have a look around town soon.

Well I think to get away with it, they're having to send out near new consoles (the invoice I received said the console was "mint" rather than "new") but it does make a mockery of it really. That said, it does explain why the offer was so cheap.

I've fired them off an email but got an automatic response saying it may take up to 3 days to respond. I'm not really holding my breath for any decent resolution.

CEX website say they sell unboxed wi-fi models for £120, although I guess that comes with absolutely nothing right?

My unboxed CEX unit came with everything... including a box ^_^

Was in really good nick too, no marks/scratches at all :)

Vita get!

£60 trade-in at Game and got the £150 deal in-store, the Vita was brand new, the the box had never been opened. Got Soul Sacrifice too and am waiting for the Mega Pack to arrive from ShopTo now so it looks like I'll only have this one game for the weekend.

Is there anything exciting I can do with it without a memory card?

I think there might be a (very very) few of the games that would allow you to play without a memory card. Pretty sure SS is not one of them, sorry bud. :-(

EDIT: you should be able to play Welcome Park!

Wait, what?! I need a memory card just to play to play a game?

Edit: The box says requires PS Vita memory card, this is horse shit. (Actual shit. From a horse)

Ah well, the welcome park for the weekend then :seanr:

See I'm tempted though to go brand new, if it's £30 more and with a game from in store.

I'm flying to Finland for a week next Monday, I really should grab me one of these before then! I've got PS+ so have games waiting for me already too, plus Golf is on sale right now on SEN website.

I would have been happy with second hand to be honest as long as it came with a full warranty although the I love the feeling of a virgin device, the only thing missing from the new experience was a screen protector to peel off, I love me a good peelin'!

There were 3 games to choose from, Soul Sacrifice, Uncharted and LBP and if you've got PS+ then there's loads just make sure you buy a memory card.

(Boring) update from Game. They've replied that they're sorry to have sent out the incorrect item and they'll collect the Vita to exchange for a replacement or refund if they're out of stock.

So with any luck, I'll end up with a brand new Vita as before! Now I just have to wait...

Personally I wouldn't get a Vita to sit at home and play it. It's a portable console for playing on the bus, train, car, holiday, etc.

I only ever switch mine on at home to download stuff over the wi-fi.

I have better games on my home consoles, which aren't as uncomfortable to play for extended periods.

Love the Vita, though. It's made my commute to work really enjoyable.

I can loan you a memory card for the weekend if you like?
