My Vita is on 3.63. It a Japanese launch machine with SIM card slot. Is it worth hacking? Best way?

Definitely worth hacking! Not sure about going from 3.63, definitely worth having a look on YouTube. I think this might be what you need (as I think you have to get to v3.65 before you can use the latest methods and tools):

The Vita memory card curse has struck. I'd read on Resetera people complaining about their 64MB cards corrupting and I've just used my Vita for the first time in a while and when I try to load some of the Vita games it says they are corrupt. Might have to do a full format and redownload to try and clear it but it's still a huge pain and I'll have to wait until the latest firmware is cracked to switch to the non Sony memory card.

I'll give it a try. Because you cannot backup PSP save files to the cloud I think I'll make dig out my PSP for PSP games instead of playing them on the Vita from now on in case it's terminal. I only wanted to play Everybody's Golf for the first time in ages only to discover this.

You can back those up via a PC or a PS3 if that helps?

Just delete some stuff.  I had the same issue and it's to do with the memory card not being able to cope when it reaches a certain amount of storage space used.

so the card is more like "64GB" than 64GB

Thanks for the tips everyone. I had less than 1GB free on the memory card so deleted some PSP games and rebuild the database a couple of times and it seems to be working again. The second time I rebuilt the database the icons from all but two of the games disappeared from the home screen and I had to rebuild it a third time to get them back. Everything seems to be working now and I've dug out my PSP and put the games I've deleted on that. In case anyone else has the same issue 2FA breaks the PS3->PSP and PS3->Vita game transfer, you have to turn 2FA off on your account to get it to work.

3.65

Got to the final part of installation, reset the console as per instructions and it's bricked. Just a black screen.

Add to that CEX sold me a buggered memory card today as well.

So I did a hard reset today and it lives! So I have a 3.68 system with enso installed. How do I put stuff on it and spoof PSN so it thinks it's on the latest firmware?

Edit: Just realised I never actually upgraded to 3.68 so will it still be on 3.65 but the spoofing is showing 3.68 as that was the latest fw at the time I hacked it?

I know this is a longshot but does anyone know if there is any type of homebrew that turns the l2/r2 grip into something more useful? I bought one without doing my homework, cost a small fortune as it's for the 1000 model. It's a decent little case but I don't think I've used the extra buttons with anything, maybe a PS1 game or something last year. Most remote play games map the buttons to the front screen so makes it useless for most of them. Any obscure hack that gives it a bit more life? If not, and again a longshot but does anyone have a list of PS4 remote play games that map to the back touch screen?

This did not fix the issue. I rebuilt the database a couple of times before eventually Everybody's Golf crashed badly enough to corrupt the save file and every time I tried to launch a Vita game I'd get a C2-14646-1 error appearing. Strangely all of my PSP games on the card continued to work without issue. So I gave up, formatted the 64GB card and redownloaded the Vita games only, I'll stick to the PSP for PSP titles from now on. It seems to be working so far, hopefully the issue won't happen again because my firmware in 3.67 so I cannot hack it to use a micro sd card converter.

So the machine with the problem is the UK one? You might want to check if you have a PSP game registered on the UK one and back that game up, as somebody is planning to do one last circumvention of Sony's security measures and he's going for the novel route this time by using a flaw in the PSP emulator to do it.

Sorry I haven't been that clear. It's a Japanese slim machine (the Persona 4 Dancing All Night model) with a japanese 64GB SD card. I have my UK account registered to it and have had the 64GB card in it since just after they were released in 2013. I'll download a PSP game to it in that case. Reading Reddit it seems Vita memory cards are not as reliable as Pro Duos so being able to use the micro sd will be handy in future. Fun fact: when I bought Final Fantasy Tactics PSP on the my UK account the language automatically switches to Japanese and it's impossible to change even though the machine is set to English.

Just so people know, there are some Vita games in the Big In Japan sale that don't seem to appear in the main sale page but were on my wishlist. I picked up Sorcery Saga : Curse of the Great Curry God and Demon Gaze (which I know is flawed but seems like good fun) for £2.72 each. They went on sale today until the 15th, like all the other games in the Big in Japan sale. Worth a hunt around of there is anything you are looking to pick up as it may be on sale

Demon Gaze isn't awful - I kind of drifted away from it but the dungeon-crawling is fine - but you have to be prepared for cringey writing and character design at times. ;) Sorcery Saga's great - again, the writing might put people off but it's a nice little roguelike with plenty of charm.

Other personal recommendations? Garou: MotW for £4 isn't bad for what you get -  I bought it full price and it is just the original rom with minimal bells and whistles, but it still plays well and might be worthwhile if you don't want to mess around with custom firmware and romsets. :) Also it's perfect portable gaming fodder.

Thanks for the tip, but fighting games are not for me. On the others, I'd read that about Demon Gaze but I love some dungeon crawling, and have heard a lot of good things about Sorcery Saga. Dodgy writing doesn't put me off, I've made it through Sword Art Online games and Neptunia games, so I'm all for that.

I did look at Criminal Girls 2 but it looks like that might push the taste envelope a little too far, so glad I looked more into that before I bought it.

I like how Vita games don't even appear at all :/
