Sorry, guys, I never read this sub-forum, so apologies if this is already posted, but I've just seen the Star Wars X-Wing miniatures board game at half price (down to £15) in The Entertainer (in Redhill). "Until stocks last". They had two left. No idea if it's a national thing, but it might be worth a look.

Haven't checked this thread in a while... All I can say is :o

How complete are they? They look in really good condition!

The boxes look great! Alas they are not all complete. Space Hulk is missing the figures and lots of tokens, as is 40K. The Advanced Heroquests are all mixed up (that's a job for this afternoon). They've been well played as it evident by the hand written notes and additional home made tokens etc which is great and cool to sift through. I would guess that all of them are missing something, given the amount of tokens in some of them like Mighty Empires and Space Marine. The Space Hulk though has managed to make me a 100% complete set as my personal copy was missing a few incidental pieces, and there was also some Floor tiles that must have been cut out of White Dwarf and backed on card. :)

Unusual find, today: copy of TSR's early 'Knights of Camelot' game: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1780/knights-of-camelot

6 quid, so not super cheap for a charity shop game, but old TSR games are hard to come by. Sounds like a fun little game - cross between an RPG and a randomised choose your own adventure book.

Don't know if it's complete, yet, and it's pretty shelfworn, so took a bit of a punt on it. Worst comes to the worst, I've donated some money to a good cause.

But I love finding these old curiosities; especially by TSR or Games Workshop before they became single-product behemoths.

My sister was clearing out her loft recently and came across this little lot. It seems like the previous owners must have left it there! She had no use for it, so gave it to me. I've not had a proper look through it as yet, but they seem to be complete. Dungeon Quest even seems to come with lead figures! Though they may have been added in later. What a great find! I've never played Talisman either :)

Charity shop at the weekend - found a copy of an old "formula one" boardgame from the early 70s (based on the art). £3.50. not quite complete, but the only things missing are cards which I can download from BGG.

game mechanics look interesting - it's not a roll-and-move game. might make an interesting change from Formula D

Literally 'Formula 1'? With each player getting a cardboard dashboard to record their speed?

Dates from the 60s, but was reprinted quite a few times into the 70s; I have a copy in a box somewhere, but haven't played it in yonks, but I recall it being simple and fun. Nice price - last time I saw it in a charidee shop, it was priced at 16 quid!

Sounds like the one I have. The very first printing had hand-drawn box art (this was the one I saw for 16 quid), then it went to the head-on photos of the old F1 cars for a while.

I liked the way there's no dice involved - you accelerate to the speed you want, then have to make sure you decelerate to the right speed for the corners. Wasn't there tyre/brake wear as well? So you had to trade speed into the first corner against long-term performance and pit strategy. With the cards allowing you to bend the laws of physics every so often or throw hazards at the other players - room for bluff and spoiling, as I recall.

Not complicated, but quite a tactical game of jockeying for the best position into corners. And stuff like blocking entrance to the pit lane to force your opponent to go around for another lap on bald tyres.

As I remember it, the default 10 laps took an age to play through with a full complement of cars.

Picked up the Fantasy Flight version of The Hobbit for £9 (inc P&P) on E-Bay. Box had been opened, but hadn't been played as the tokens were un-punched.

I like The Lord of The Rings game so i thought i'd give this a go and it's the first time i've seen it under £20

Another quirky one, this week; a copy of a 'Frogger' board game, based on the old arcade game. 2 quid.

Second such game I have found in a charidee shop; first being a Defender game by the same company, which had interesting gameplay. This seems a bit simplistic in comparison.
