Your bargain finds!

On monday I headed into town because I desperately needed chess sets. Couldn't find any in the charity shops (for once), but I did see MacGregor. Went back today and they still had it, so I picked it up. I told the gf I did it to make a profit though, but everything but the box and instructions are in such a lovely condition it feels wrong.

Years and years ago (I mean, at least twelve years back) my dad and I found a whole bunch of unplayed Hero Quest sets at a jumble sale for pittance. Bought them all.

:o

I picked up a nice minty fresh Hero Quest last year for a tenner. Cards still sealed, most figures still on their sprues, and most cardboard shapes not pushed out.

It's a proper contrast to my 2 existing well played and mainly painted copies from when I was younger. Over the years I seem to have binned 1 of the boxes, and I've lost the manuals (they'll be in the house somewhere!) I think I have all of the expansion packs there too, though only the later 2 with boxes.

Great game :)

Was over at my parents today with my kids and we started looking through cupboards for stuff for them to play with. And what did I spy in the cupboard? Advanced Heroquest! Also there was Heroquest and another MB/Games Workshop game called Battle Masters. Turns out that after i'd taken what i wanted to keep (10+ years ago) my youngest brother had also had a browse and saved a few more from the jumble sale. Made my day :D

My super bargainous copy of 'Wrath of Ashardalon' from The Book Depository, is still in 'Processing' status. I wonder if they've twigged it was a mistake and aren't going to honour it. Are they normally this slow?

I won't be heartbroken if they don't, after my brush with Ravenloft at the weekend. I'm thinking two of these games is too many.

Ashardalon arrived last night.

Odd timing, as I'd pulled my copy of Ravenloft out to go through it all, re-bag everything and get clear in my head what everything is for (as so many of tokens and counters are for specific adventures)

So the place was strewn with D&D geekery, when another whopping great box of it arrives! I have a very forgiving & understanding fiancée!

Good to see the Ashardalon rule book is much improved with it clearly defining what bits are used for what.

When you place the order it's not a commitment. He'll send you back an email with total cost Inc shipping and then you tell him whether you want to go ahead or not. I'm not sure what the costs would be but they are normally very reasonable. And Agricola is great. Do it. :)

I'm so happy with Advance HeroQuest. And I'm also happy that Adeptus will finance a few new purchases ;)

Did you sell these, if you don't mind me asking. Was in my mum and dad's loft the other day found both these games were in there. Advanced heroquest is complete, Adeptus Titanicus might be light a few models, though.

EDIT: Bugger, should have read the rest of the thread first.

Yeah, I sold Adeptus to an insanely happy man from Denmark (I think it was Denmark...?) and bought a Kindle with the proceeds (along with a nice donation to the charity shop). Advanced Heroquest is still in my possession, but in all honesty... I'm thinking of trading it. Ashardalon does it so much better. Rose tinted glasses and all that...

I don't know if it counts as a bargain or not, but it appears I haven't been charged for the Mansions of Madness I bought last week. Maybe a good thing, seeing as I felt the crushing weight of regret even as I walked home.

Whooooooaaaaah. Where from? Perhaps the Evil from the box was too great and they just wanted it out of there.

Make sure you spend plenty of time reading through the instructions and set up the scenario of choice well in advance. Our newly re-formed gaming club tried to play it last week and we pretty much wasted 3 hours trying to figure out the basics. Our 'DM' admitted that he wasn't expecting it take as long to set up so we got caught short.

Once we got going it was good fun, although due to time constraints, we only explored a few rooms. We are hoping to meet again in a couple of weeks to play it properly. It does look good though.

Finally discovered my old games and FF books at my parents today. A lot of it is in bad condition but man the smile on my face...total wave of nostalgia.

My personal favourite has to be Talisman and it's crazy expansions. Talisman Timescape!

Managed to find a copy of RISK at a charity shop for £2.50; checked it was all complete before I left (well, I checked it had all the dice and cards - didn't count all the individual army pieces but there are a hell of a lot there, and given the condition of the rest of the set I have to assume they're all there). It's the 2004 edition, so it still has the Napoleonic Wars stylings as opposed to the modern "cold war bunker" style in the latest edition.

While browsing eBay - like an idiot - I found a load of UFS: Universal Fighting System starter decks going cheap. Picked up all four Shadowar starters for £1.45 each and the Chun-Li starter for £2.00. Free delivery on all of 'em. Not bad, considering one of my local game shops is selling them for eight quid a piece.

Just found my Blood Bowl (1995 re-issue I think?) some old Warhammer and Gorkamorka figures and a copy of Battle Masters that'll probably go to evilBay like my Hero Quest stuff.

Seems kinda wrong to sell it as it means probably as much to me as my first SNES and games, still, I've had many, many hours of fun with it and some of the bits fetch a decent price now.

Check out my other auctions and imagine trying to split that lot out since it was all in 2 boxes  (well, apart from the unplayed one that I actually picked up fairly recently)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280682805214&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

I think I put more effort into splitting it up than I have packing stuff up for my my house move

It'll be worth it when I move house on the 1st of July and can buy a TV unit or fix the Lotus again or something..
