This beta client is a lot more swish than the standard one. Feels much more like 'Duels', especially when you have a 'tated monitor to your right, as I do in the office...

Cheers for another recommendation Paddyo. I'm still getting to grips with the system and entry rules for decks/cards. A lot of nice cards I had my eye on, and subsequently traded for tickets, aren't legit for standard. :(

I'm waiting until later in January for Gatecrash, then I'm going to join a sealed tourney and splash some money on the 6x booster thing. That should be fun. I'm currently not too keen on these Planeswalker cards, I just played some guy who had used 2x Jace cards and another blue PW, it was too much.

Any of you guys on Cockatrice? I've picked it up fairly recently. It's a little artless but, compared to how much it costs to keep up on Magic Online, it's excellent. We should get a few games on the go.

Those intro packs aren't worth a toss. I liked the sound of salvaging on Golgari, but put that up against Jund/Bant Control and it's just a complete waste of time. Not only that but I found it totally misleading in the way of composing a deck.

I can now build better decks myself for around 1/3 of the price after around 10 hours of play, I'm now standing a chance as long as I get a good starting hand (I need to work on The Art of the Mulligan). I'll post my decks tomorrow when I can be arsed.

There's nothing better than beating some rich kid with a four tix deck.

Just tried out a rough Harvester Deck, worked quite nice. The undying creatures trigger both effects of the Harvesters and you get some insane draw. I got six draws in one turn towards the end of one game. Draw > Creature > Place > Draw > Creature > Place > etc etc, keep drawing as long as you have creatures and the mana to place them. From placing my last card in hand I went back up to having to discard a card the following turn!

Fortunately I have so many low mana/undying blockers that they just keep coming. Young Wolves, Stranglegeists, and Butcher Ghouls. Deadly Recluse in there for flyer blocking as well.

I'd like some negate or something some where, control decks are going to ruin it. I have Appetite for Brains in there for some cheap removal of potentially nasty stuff.

I've gone cold on MtG, at least standard. This release weekend they're doing an Iron Man match. Ever heard of it? If someone puts one of your cards in the graveyard, it gets ripped up. The guy at Spellbound's giving it all, "ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH?!?!?" and a few of use are all, "Don't you realise the marketing ploy behind this?!".

As such, I've quit standard. I've got a nice commander deck that'll do me (my mate has one too) for gaming at home. There's no way I'm being part of such a con.

Christ, there must have been a lot of stuff to come out with 4 Thragtusk, 4 Sphinx's and a bunch of shocklands for a tenner.

Well i had 4 liliana of the veils and plenty of mythics from past sets. Ive also been getting good at rtr draft (reach finals every game) so have been pulling shocklands etc from those.

Nice work. Are you drafting in 8-4 or 4-3-2-2?

Regarding the Ironman thing, yeah - ripping cards up may seem mental at first but I could happily play some Ironman at a WoWTCG event, and when you see the number of spare cards that have been lying around in our store since time began, I reckon the store owner wouldn't mind us doing it either as the stuff is literally worthless.

If you are ripping up new and playable stuff, then that's definitely not for the faint of heart! I don't think I could go through with that.

What format is it?

I think I'm going to run with Green/Black/White when it's out, similar to the pauper deck Strawdonkey kindly supplied.

I won't be attending that, but I'm hoping for pre-release events on MTGO. Have they ever happened in the past? I fancy indulging in a couple of sealed events.

I'm hoping to go to the GP, i love the big events they are so much fun :) Hoping there is a team sealed event again as they are my faves :D

At a time of the franchise when control is incrementally shunned in favour of more action-oriented creature play, planeswalkers roam through games resembling the $25+ unchecked behemoths they are, and haste is seen as regularly as a dismissive OKCupid message, I am pleased to say a massive erection-fulfilling card has finally been revealed to me.
