Yeah Mythics are the reason I've stopped playing the paper game. Plus the discovery of this very sub forum. It's hard to justify spending £30 on a single card (that you need four of) when you can simply buy something like Thunder Stone Advance for the same price.

Our local store doesnt know how much Modern Masters product it will get in :S

Every day though there are incredible cards spoiled for it, Goyf and Bob already!! Even at £6+ per booster it is looking like good value!!

Our store is doing a draft next Friday night for £24. Max 16 people so that's two boxes of MM. I guess prize support will be in the form of store credit or non-MM boosters.

I'm in. Will I be rare-drafting? At £8 a booster then of course! :) Picture this: Pack One you open a Tarmogoyf in the Rare slot and a Foil Vendillion Clique in the Foil. What do you take? ARGGHHHHH!

'm waiting to find out the price for a box tomorrow or Saturday. You are only eligible to buy a box if you played in the DGM pre-release or release party. They said the prices will be towards the lower end of what stores are asking, so we'll see.

Drafted MM friday night, it was a lot of fun :)

I drafted U/R giants lol and went 1-1-1 only 3 rounds :( Redrafted rares and got PAct of Negation, Gifts Ungiven and Grand Arbiter Augustin

Pretty bad box we drafted SoLaS and Clique being the only ttwo good cards, a mate bought a box and opened it though... BANG!! FOIL GOYF!!!

Foil Goyf is going for $500 on Star City :|

Opened some money tonight on MTGO - Voice of Resurgence. Nice 2-1 deck that went 1-2 thanks to questionable mulligan decisions and some hideous mana screw and mana flood.

Then I sold the Voice for 37 tickets and stopped being salty :)

More drafts! I'm just trying to sustain a cheap way of getting better at drafting, and opening stuff like that definitely helps :)

Am improving constantly but just waiting for the stars to align for that moment where I draft well, don't have mana issues, make good Mulligan decisions, and don't get blown up by variance-busting draws from my opponents (or those times where you play 7-9 games and at least one of your cards is never drawn).

Down to 25 following tonight's draft - hoping to get another 8 or so drafts out of the tax, but we'll see how my optimism pans out over the week!

I spoke to wizards about the ridiculous price of modern masters (they are currently £12 a booster) and was told they dont set the rrp which i find hard to believe. Looked at the price of cards and quite frankly they can sod off now. I will carry on doing online drafts as i still have a half decent pool, but i wont be playing physical magic any more, it's just a complete price gouge and this forum has shown me a huge number of amazing things i could buy for the single price of an unusable tarmagoyf card.

We had a good run magic, but I fear this is where we part ways. It all seemed such fun when I started with ice age, but the prices you're now expected to pay have effectively priced me out of it.

You only need crazy stuff if you want to be playing competition level in which case yes you'll end up spending a fortune.

You will need quite a few dual lands/mana fixers/Artifacts but because there is no limits on the cards you can use there are plenty out there that dont cost that much. Unless you're

playing with people who are planning to spend crazy money themselves you shouldnt need to spend that much.

There are some staple cards that most decks use like terramorphic expanse, evolving wilds, Sol ring, gilded lotus, lightning greaves, skullclamp.

http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/forumdisplay.php?f=489 - A good place to take a look for ideas, although beware some of the decks listed are crazy money to build.

I would say 100% that you can build cheap decsk for Commander without spending much. Deacks can be made using commons/uncommons for the mana, man fixers, kill spells, draw spells, lots of creatures etc and then a few select rares, it is definitely a great way to play magic :)

I built a commander deck on MTGO for about $10. It's GR Big Men and while I could add a bunch of money cards to it, the deck is still loads of fun without them and searching your deck for all the basic lands in one go is a lot of fun when you pull it off...

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been sent an intro pack by Wizards Of The Coast to review as a feature alongside our support of the XBLA game.

Can two people play with the same intro pack or would I need to seek someone out with their own pack?
