Well, with its eminent arrival I suppose now is a good time to ask: anyone getting their hands on a From the Vault: Twenty?

Our local store is pretty decent about how things like the FTV boxsets and Commanders Arsenal are portioned out: random lottery, one each, sold at just above RRP (in this case, £55), and frankly that's a lot better than what a lot of stores seem to be doing.

I was lucky enough to have my name drawn, so will be getting one. However although I'm often found at prereleases and casual events, I'm not exactly in with the more... devoted elements of the crowd, shall we say. I've already had messages both asking for me to sell them the box at RRP and/or stating that I don't deserve it. Often from the same person.

In other news, I've really gotten into pauper EDH. Takes me away from, dare I say, the lack of real deckbuilding in standard and the excessive cost with most other formats. That and it gives me something to do with all of the cards left sitting in boxes, unloved and unappreciated.

If anyone is looking to get into EDH I'm looking to sell a red black vamp deck. I'm looking for around £100 as it includes a lot of pricey cards. I can provide a full list if anyone is interested.

please can you post a list? I might be interested in singles :)

thanks!!

People bothering you over it? That's crazy, just ignore them.

There are a few strange folks in the group. I attended FMN for the first time in a while and the guy who pretty much wins every time walked off at the start of his first game when he had to mulligan down to four. Didn't say a word, just stormed off.

What mr cochese said. I'm a fan of green stompy personally, but a lit of payers prefer the ridiculous spped of red decks. I think they were called sligh at one point after the guy who made the deck. This was back when ball lightning was still a frightening card.

I'm that prick that likes playing decks with zero creatures. Even with a fierce dislike for planeswalkers, Tamiyo is pretty much my ideal Magic card.

The pauper train continues unabated. Three EDH decks - Vitu-Ghazi Guildmage (don't have the old Ravnica one), Misthollow Witch and Dimir Guildmage/Diregraf Captain - and one 60 card deck, and currently bullying the missus into making one since my housemate got bored of playing me. Apparently gatekeepers are tremendous value with Ghostly Flicker.

I recently picked up the Magic 2014 Fire Surge and Bestial Strength core set intro sets to play with my son. I'm after two sets of different design card sleeves and a couple of playmats and I just wondered which decent types people here were using. Oh, and two nice deckboxes to replace the plain Ultra-pros we're using at the moment.

Also, is there an online checklist of cards so I card make a note of which cards we started with in our packs so we can always revert back if deck-building goes wrong, or will I need to make a list myself?

Finally, kind of in the wrong place, but what is the difference between Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers and Magic Online, and is there any news of them coming out for Mac at some point?

Cheers, I'll check them out.

I just wish I could play online natively in OSX. Playing only against my son will get old eventually as we get used to each others style of play, and I have too many autistic/social issues to join in real life FNM sessions anywhere. I'm too bloody self-conscious to talk over PSN / XBL let alone face real people.

Duels is more of an introduction to MTG, with a very limited cardpool and options for building decks. It's like playing with starter decks for the most part, though you are generally given some options to customise your deck with.

Magic Online is basically Magic, but online. Not EVERY card has been released but a vast majority of old stuff is available, and sets generally show up a week or two after they are released in paper. At the moment on MTGO it's Theros pre-release weekend.

MTGO is ugly and potentially overwhelming at first, but is by far the most comprehensive online version of Magic and even if you don't invest in a constructed deck for it, is great for when you fancy a draft but don't have seven other people around to draft with.

Also cards are significantly cheaper than in real life for the most part, but obviously you have no physical thing to show for your money :)

MTGO is great to learn to the ropes too as it enforces the rules. Theres a couple of free versions about but they are even more ugly than MTGO (!!). I think you have to be lucky if you go to any form of gaming club. Where I go for Warmahordes, those fellas are really enthusiatic and friendly. The MTG players seem to be arguing all the time so we steer clear of those chaps!

Won my first Theros draft online last night

Rakdos deck with minotaurs and some decent removal. The only rare I had was a heroic dude that deals damage, but he never came out. I beat two of those stupidly powerful god enchantments as well.

There's a Theros draft event in a book shop near me on Saturday, which the guy in the shop described as "Super, super casual". I've played the iPad games a fair bit, but have never really played magic with an actual person, and don't have the first clue about how drafting works. I'm sorely tempted to give it a go.

Nice one!!

I lost to a minatour draft deck the other week, did you have the R/B minatour that gives them +2/+0?? He was insane :S especially when he got 2 out at once!!

Would anyone be interested in buying my decks for MTG 2014?

I have a a starter deck, Theros Tournament Deck, some other Theros deck, plus they all came with a couple of foil packs (have been opened, but no clue as to what is valuable, or anything like that).

I would put in the trading folder, but have no clue as to value.
