Just when a lot of people's first year of Live subscription has just run out. What a coincedence...

Even without Halo 2 it would be worth renewing ...

Oh, absolutely, it's just that I wonder if that's the reason the game has been delayed. I mean, they could delay it for another year and people would still get it. They could release it now and people would still buy it. But the chances of MS's big online FPS, their flagship platform icon coming out just after the first year of Live is up smacks of delay tactics to me.

But, hey, I'm sure it'll be great again.

And by the way, Phelan, your May the Fourth gag is terrible. It doesn't even work. 2/10. :)

Yes, some sites (Spong for one) suggested it might have something to do with that. On the other hand, a timely X-Mas release for Halo 2 would have blown the PS2 and GameCube right out of the water and shifted a big amount of Xboxes this jolly season. And sell a Live kit to a lot of Xbox-owners who haven't jumped the bandwagon yet. Considering that only a small percentage of all Xbox-owners are actually Live subscribers at the moment, delaying it for the sole purpose of renewals is probably not the most lucrative scenario imaginable.

Except... most Live! subscribers are in North America, and their renewal date was November. So even if they'd have released it at Christmas, most of their customer base would already have to renew their subscription.

MS conspiracy theories never grow old... :)

Why would Microsoft delay for Live? Surely releasing it a little earlier means people get hooked on the online side and want to re-subscribe. Also, if people are going to be resubscring to play it anyway why the hell would it matter when it's released? It doesn't make sense.

Anyway, my Live time starts this month so expect to see me running behing you with a big gun online on the 4th

Christ.

Get it realeased already....

Not really. Just the two games I really, really, want are Halo 2 and the GTA doublepack. I'm sure they'll be worth the wait and extra time will make them better etc...

But I want them now...*stamps feet*

Why would it have been rushed? It was originally scheduled for a 2003 release but they pushed it back to make sure they got it right. I think Halo2's pretty important for live and MS will probably give Bungie time to make sure they've got it right.
