i assumed that it was 30fps in 3D because game was still running at 60 but each eye was only seeing every other frame, rather than because it was actually showing both eyes the same 30 frames each second. but that was an assumption and i guess it's time to find out for sure. if the links are different i don't really want the game as much :(

i want the handheld game pretty much entirely so i can spend every lunch hour practising the LK>HP link until i'm ready to just casually knock it out in lobbies now and again like it's no big deal. if it's not the same timing then i need to reassess my whole LK>HP implementation plan!

i've already been thinking about how to map the buttons and everything.

i mean you know, it's been about 40 hours of game time since i even played as rufus, but now i only have vega and fuerte left to C up (which i should just about be able to get done by 25/03 at this rate) and then it's LK>HP all day baby!

Erm, there's some more AE change stuff from the developer blog, translated and summarised nicely over on NeoGAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=25591133&postcount=5024

The changes to Fei's EX rekkas could prove to be pretty significant, given that they're completely unused by Fei players in Super as it stands. First one safe on block, second one only -1. I also like that they count as projectiles so you can punch fireballs with them. The second one is neutral on hit as well, so hitting two Rekkas and then mixing up with something else could be fun.

I'd heard about all the other stuff already, but I am still grinning a bit at the Big Bang Typhoon nerfs.

To continue the 3DS framerate discussion, I'd imagine the inputs will still be read every 1/60th of a second - as far as I understand it, say you have a move that normally takes 3 frames to do, meaning you'd need to hit a one frame link on the 4th frame (or 3rd frame, I don't know how it works off the top of my head). But if these 4 frames are now 2 frames at 30fps and you hit a button on the second frame, did your first move finish yet or not? You'd either have to take the approach of just letting it slide which would both make that link easier and possibly create new possible combos or you'd need to hit the button on frame 3@30fps, technically starting the animation a frame later and meaning the link might not even work anymore. Either way I'd imagine that would lead to too much re-balancing work and on top of that you've got the issue of dealing with multiplayer where one person has their slider on 3D and one doesn't so they have to work the same.

nerfs plural?

Yus. The major one is that it throws people out rather than sucking them in when used as anti-air, but there's also a small nerf in that it does a little bit less damage generally. It'll still be pretty damn good of course, but perhaps a bit more reasonable than the current version.

compared to every grappler getting automatic 720 buffering from the shortcut buttons i think other balance issues are going to pale in comparison. but yeah, i guess there'd be a bunch of work involved to ensure you didn't suddenly open up/close off a whole bunch of combo options. seems like a good argument for it being the way we want it, anyway!

i think it's hilarious that certain characters get the hate. what game do people think they are playing?

this only strengthens my belief that capcom should release Ryu VS Ken Fighter - player 1 is always Ryu and player 2 is always Ken and you just play round after round and whoever gets bored last wins (in the arcade mode you play as Ryu and fight 7 Kens before the big boss appears (Ryu in a red suit)). I think it would have the potential to be the most balanced fighting game ever made.

Maybe they should release a game like that and then patch the shotos out of the main series. ;) Besides, a Ryu vs. Ken game already exists in Street Fighter 1; the XBLA port petition starts here...

okay, so it's more of a "no midscreen fireballs!" move than a "no jumping!" move now, then. sounds reasonable.

YES! - soon I will be Champion when is this shit coming to the console versions? Capcom need to get themselves together like EA - We are already on Fifa 11 and Capcom are what, like on SFIV - slow man - I got dollars to burn baby.

Whilst I am thinking about my road to glory - do all these international competitions happen on PS3s or do they use 360s now? Ain't interested in no arcade business unless they have embraced the 3xpunch and 3xkick buttons? Oh no we don't have that - why the fuck not man - idiots. I might just go down Casino and blu tack two extra buttons on the machine to freak people out.

Also these unlock codes are they inputted like the arcade cheats on bubble bobble for fast shoes and fast bubbles you could do with the joystick on the start screen? L,R,L,R business or maybe they are voice activated. Imp on Thursday why not stand in front of the cabinet saying things like 'Oni' or 'Evil Ryu' will they be region restricted like that film Firefox for 'Missle Launch'?

I have a chum who practically lives in Casino, if you're heading down there Imp, be warned, as of now (well, he told me yesterday) it appears the machine is single play only. As in no Versus mode, it's not linked up to an existing IVanilla machine either. Also it's not got the angry twins unlocked, although whether they'll risk it now after all the Capcop madness, who can say. Currently it's just a long queue watching people beat the game in Arcade mode.

Apparently the cab will be taken to an Expo (this weekend?) and when it gets brought back they plan to set it up with another machine.

Oh man.

Seen playerjun do this before - use of a jump post focus crumple to guarantee the right timing for the full Ultra off HP SRK FADC - but it was always a neutral jump. Lovely stuff.

I love the fact Joffo always does the FADC into ultra, despite the fact it only does 7 more damage than doing the ultra raw from a focus crumple.

Ah balls. Maybe I'll try and get in some time with Yun and Yang at some point, then again maybe I'll hold off until they get at least two set ups. :(

He's got nothin' on 'choo though.

Anti air fierce thunder knuckle - > FADC - > Fierce thunder knuckle.

Fuck a meter-less combo!

True dat. Honestly the best thing I've seen in SSFIV this year.

I was in two minds to go last night anyway, then it occured to me I could be at home playing it properly without any waiting, oh and for free. You still making it to MM jah?

Yeah. I'll still go cos I'm a sucker though. :) And yes, I'm coming to get beaten to a bloody pulp by that bloody FADC happy Ken and that psychic Zangief and that guy who thinks that Fuerte is a Blazblue Character.

i was so busy constantly refreshing this page to see if there was anything to distract me from the constant vega beatings that i ended up playing two unnecessary games before realising i'd already hit 1000BP. i suck.

FTD, i know we both thought this day would never come, but could you offer me any el fuerte advice?

Changing my main to Random Select is the best thing I've ever done in Street Fighter. Not only does it make playing the game way more relaxing, it's making me a better player; putting more emphasis on fundamentals and normals to get me through matches with characters I don't really know anything about. ^_^

Alistarr you made me smile, I thank you. My initial advice would be to hunt down Mr Dave White, he hates El Feurte ;-)

I wish I could help and I appreciate you asking but there is not much for me to give - Fuerte is fun for the player and a can be a nightmare for your opponent. Like the old kung fu films it is not your moves that will win but the mind games.

I don't play him right by all accounts. I use Ultra 1, you should use Ultra 2. I believe he is all about gettig the rush down and in your face. I run away and jump off walls. If people are focusing your body splash then do the move that grabs them by the neck. If you do a sucessful body splash then move in like you are about to do the run away jump back neck grab and they will jump of SRK which you can punish with sHK into hard kick dragon punch move thing. Then when then don't jump do the run away jump back neck grab, rinse and repeat.

My personal fireball punish is jumping HP SHP release medium kick into super (Obviously you should be holding down kick for this to work) which you should be doing anyway.

I don't bother with RSF, too easy and boring but I have heard some like this ;-)

So apologies but I don't really know the names of moves or combos - I just found out El Feurte means the Strong.

Oh and I have seen people use his focus attack a lot to set up combos. Also do Ex Run seems to be popular. I have memory/concentration issues so don't tend to read guides, I am not allowed fizzy drinks - so so sorry, wish I could help more.

Oh also his lp and lk are the stay away moves maybe

Anyway all the inspiration you need are contained in episodes of the following

I just played Jimmy DC's Gief who quit on me just before he was about to win. Pretty sure that's the latest successor to the taunt.

First it was the taunt.

Then it was the dizzy or focus crumple then the taunt.

Then it was the dizzy while YOU JUST STOOD THERE AND WATCHED THEM DRUNKENLY SWAY.

Now it's quitting on them before the win.

Big.

So Desk has had a play with SSF4 3DS, and has confirmed that you don't need to charge to do charging moves when using the easy mode. That makes it even easier than the iphone version. Madness. There's a system in place whereby you can't do the same charging move twice in a row instantly, so it's like you have to pay for your charge after the move rather than before it.

Great lobby once again tonight gents.

EX. Thunder. Knuckle.

Good times last night gang. Was kicking myself for staying up for one more go and getting fucking Viper.

Personal highlight was that barely deserved Dee Jay win against Joffo's Honda. G'times. Party chat was a mess though, everyone was cutting out at one point. Oh and nice to meet Haggar as well.

Shouldn't really have stayed up that late when I had to get up at 6 to cover the PSP2 thing, which I just about did with bleary eyes. Now I need tea and bacon.
