Happy B day dude.

Anyway went on SF4 , managed to pass the 15th trial with Akuma then went online and it goes to complete shit. All the combos I'm learning go out of the window and I instead mash out of sheer panic getting trapped in most situations. Problem recently I'm having is against Viper's burning kick and earth quake thing she does, always not sure how to retaliate against it.

It's more practice playing online that you need! I started out doing all these flash combos in training and then mashing like a spazzock in ranked and I still do to an extent, but the more you practice and play the calmer you get playing ranked and the more often you'll hit those combos, and the more time spent in practice learning the moves and combos and feeling confident that you can pull them off with regularity will translate into better play online. It's about getting better with recognising good spots to punish etc. I mean I'm still rubbish but I'm noticing a definite improvement, which is all you can ask for really!

Imp plays surprisingly well when drunk. His Blanka goes from unpredictable to some strange example of chaos theory. Happy Birthday you furry green trollfaced Imp!

Ta to Jonster for putting up with our squeals. :hat:

Ta Funtime and Mute Nate for games tonight. God I was shit, but it was fun. I dunno if you could hear us, Nate... if not, you missed our sparkling wit and repartee and an endless stream of well-informed SF commentary. If you could hear us.... sorry.

Some guy called Indelible MX joined our lobby and starting knocking out some serious pressure strings with his 0BP Dan - man he was relentless. I didn't realise Dan could do that shit. After Dave and Nate left I stuck with Vega but got nowhere and did nothing good.Turned out Indelible has an A rank Zangief. Some more folk joined (I'm not sure how, cos I thought I'd set up 2 private slots in a 4 slot lobby) and a THawk beat everyone until I stepped up with Blanka - go me. Inedible BMX did the old 'switch to the character you're playing' thing which always makes me feel under lots of pressure it resulted in possibly the worst match I'd played all night which pissed me right off.

Lol yeah t'was good fun old chap. Nate is a f'ing hustler, I mean maybe I am old school but old random lobby etiquette used to mean you picked Dan as your last character for the night for those without mics to indicate they were off. So Nate picks Dan against random jiro and wins. He stays on kindly I felt to play me and the fucker picks Ken, damn hustler baby. I think he then went onto a 56 game winning streak showing all sorts of quality moves only a top tier player of questionable sexuality can. Myself and jiro could only console ourselves my recognising we were too full of testosterone to ever be s tier.

As ever I don't think I won a game but yeah Nate is scary.

Cheers for the games guys. Sorry I wasn't chatting but wife was upstairs asleep and had an early start. No carpet on the bedroom floor means noise travels straight up through the lounge ceiling. I had to plug the mic in anyway as otherwise all the chat came through the tv and I couldn't hear what was going on.

Anyway the reason for the hustle is that I figured you were going to pick Elf and I am obsessed with the Ken/Elf matchup as it never goes my way. When I saw you'd picked Dan I felt terrible. I do apologise.

I also apologise for being a dry bastard but once I got to 5 wins I realised I had half a chance of getting the 10 wins achievement. Ended up getting to eight wins and losing a tight, tight game as Ken against Jiro's Vega. Thought I was up against the Indelible dude so picked Ken - I really struggle with the Vega matchup too and properly facepalmed when I realised I was playing you. :( So close. So close. That Vega's terrifying though, so much pressure. And it was fitting that my streak was finally ended with a throwverhead. But yes I was dry as fuck, so many throws and not enough taunts. One especially horrible Juri vs Vega where I actually honest to god turtled the shit out of Jiro. Sorry!

That Indelible dude was a funny one, had a shade under 5k PP yet spent three or four matches trying to cancel cr.HP into MK Dan Kicks which is the only one that doesn't combo. Didn't stop him perfecting my Guile one round, and when he figured out HK Kicks comboed he then dismantled my bleary-eyed Ken, sending me scurrying off bedwards. Wondered who his main was, Gief makes sense.

I spent a lot of time trying to bait people into jumping over a fireball which I'd FADC into Ultra but kept doing it from too fullscreen and no-one took the bait. Sadface.

Also sorry to Jonster but we only had a four-man lobby going and it was full. By the time we had a space I checked my friends list and figured you were in with Imp so left it.

Lots of apologies up there. Make the most of it.

No worries - I am not sure my post above conveys how much I was impressed by your skills Nate. You were the lobby tyrant in that I found myself supporting Jiro in his matches and that shit never happens.

Lol. Yeah Nate, I wouldn't say you were dry at all - more calm, considered and ruthless. You were like some kind of Street Fighting cyborg from the future, sent back in time to make me and Dave give up Street Fighter - your mission to prevent a catastrophic timeline where I go on to beat Dave in the Evo finals.

Dave, nice you're still talking to me after that Guy / Blanka farewell match ;-P

I just got my TE Arcade stick. I have to say, after all the love I've been reading for them I'm a little disappointed. It feels quite cheap and plasticky to me.

?! sure you got a TE? The TE is a thing of beauty.

It does look more like this:

than this:

(I've got one of these...)

I hope.

I presume your previous controller was one of those that gives you a slow and gentle handjob while you play. I'd feel let down too.

be honest with us jason, you'd only feel let down if your previous controller had been a sock puppet version of marn with the arms attached to a programmed pad, and even then only barely. i heard that you take your TE stick with you to work so you can talk frame data with it during coffee breaks, and that where other people have pictures of their children and novelty gifts from secret santas of years gone by you have a framed copy of the "your order has shipped" email from amazon.

and so on and so forth. TEe hee.

All I got from that was an irritating buzzing noise, sorry.

i was assuming you had me blocked like you do on xbox live.

oh hey isn't that arturo sanchez over by the pool table..? no i'm sure it is (*steals jlm's beer*) now that's what i call a one frame drink.

pockets, the top of the stick is supposed to be loose to accommodate the slight twists of your hand when inputting commands.

It does just look and feel a tiny bit cheap to me at the moment though. This also might be because I'm not used to arcade sticks at all so don't really know what to judge them on in terms of look/weight.

That's true I reckon - I've got a bunch of sticks, that horrible PS one included but also a Dreamcast arcade stick a couple of HORI PS2 things, the Tatsunoko stick for the Wii, and the TE is so much nicer than all of them, I guess you could say it's the best of a bad bunch. The components in the TE are great but yeah, it's a lot of money.

two fingers either side of the stick like you're holding a brandy glass in some bad TV period drama (or just your first two fingers either side and the other two doing nothing).

or

how you're doing it but with your ring finger applying pressure from the same side as your thumb.

if you're struggling with the button layout you could also try remapping the buttons so that you're using the six to the far right rather than the six to the far left - some people prefer to use the ones that are in line like that rather than the staggered ones that are default.

carlito, listen;

All of your neg rep points to date were from me. All future negs you receive will also be from me.

All of your plus rep is from your alt. account. Everybody knows.

Now just drop it, OK?
