Who wants to bet that by the 12th day they have recommended ALL the major consoles and ALL the best selling titles, hmm?!

umm, someone who didn't pay proper attention to the site?

http://shop.game.net/lowdown.aspx?lid=3533

Edit: Though someone who had paid proper attention would notice that on the 4th day of Christmas they did recommend all 4 major consoles. However, the GameCube is recommended as the number 1 Christmas gift.

Sorry, didn't bother looking through the whole thing. However, don't you think that perhaps they are recommending it because it looks to be the last XMAS for the NGC [in europe at least] and they want to get it out of stock asap?

Perhaps it's because it's bargaintacular?

No, not unless they are as retarded as you clearly are.

Hey, no need to be abusive twatboy. I speak as I find what with recent game cancellations, major publishers declaring the console non-viable and exclusive titles now being made multi-format it just seems a little convenient that GAMES number one console is the same console they reduced to a single facing in most stores.

Pity the console's sales are still holding up though, eh?

Console sales are up for now which is by no means a bad thing, and I am in no way criticising the NGC [i bought an NTSC one two months after release] what I am criticising is the fact that the NGC has been reduced down to single facings in GAME and for them to suddenly declare it the best present for 2003 smacks of a company desperate to clear existing backlogs of stock so they don't do money on them when they have to reduce them next year [which will happen]. It's the same ploy they use all year to sell different consoles which stock levels get too high. And all the suckers/punters get sucked in only for the console to be dropped. Can we say Dreamcast...?

Bugger me.

Now if only they'd give it some decent shelf space in stores rather than hiding them somewhere out back behind a door with a sign on it that says, "Beware the Leopard."

Excerpt: ....the GameCube currently has the best line-up of software on the market, whether you're a complete newcomer to gaming or someone that takes it very seriously.

har... har har... ha ha ha.... mwuhaha.... mwuahahahaha.... MWUAHAHA.... MWUAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!

Well, nobody can deny that the GameCube is tremendous value right now, and it'll probably be pretty easy to sell to unknowing parents right now. (It's cheap. It has lots of 'family-friendly' (notice how I evaded using the word 'kiddy' titles on it. It's cheap. It's got Mario, the only character next to Sonic and Lara that parents know. It's cheap. You get the idea). And let's face it, even if the Cube is dying on it's arse, it's got enough backlog to warrant a purchase.

Sure sure, but one thing is for sure... the Nintendo has the least impressive line-up of games of all the current consoles.

I smell some Nintendo-breath huffing en puffing down this reporter's neck...

Depends a bit on what you're looking for I guess. I'm not particularly taken with the Cube line-up myself, but there's actually some people who prefer cheery platformers and happy jolly little games to tactical FPS's or supershiny realistic cars.

Dying?

I said 'even if it is', as in 'even if it was the case, then...'

It's too early to predict if the pricedrop is a continuous boost or swansong for the Cube at the moment, I think a lot depends on this holiday season. And at least Nintendo did actually TRY this time, so let's hope it'll pay off.

Yep, a valiant attempt... little too late though. If they would have tipped their tomfoolery overboard a year ago, they might still have a chance.

By the way, MS and Sony have been bombarding the major dutch TV channels with pretty cool commercials, I haven't seen a single one from Nintendo.

Me thinks that Nintendo's pricedrop won't give them the number of Cube-sales they hoped for.

That's asking for it. The LEAST impressive? Why?

Simple, the 75% of the good games on the Cube are multi platform (and those are usually better on the Box).

I admit that the Cube has a few Gems (VJ, MP ect.), but it's being totally overshadowed by the sheer bulk of Box and Ps2 top-notch titles...

Well, that statement really depends on your POV....

Coming from a man who has made no post at all in this thread.

A brave statement my friend... a very brave statement

Well, I have 38 GameCube games, all of which I think are good, of which a maximum of 5 (less than 14%) are available for the PS2 or XBox. Which means that 15% of good Gamecube games, at minimum, equals 33 games, which means there are 220 good Gamecube Games in total.

Wow - that should be enough god games to keep most people busy!!!

Plus I've got several more exclusive titles on their way this month that I suspect will again be good.

On the other hand I have 9 PS2 games (and I've owned my PS2 for twice as long at least), 3 of which (over 33%) are multi-platform.

I don't have an XBox - it doesn't have any games that attract me enough.

I'm not trying to say that the Gamecube has the best games, it simply has the most games that are attractive to me. Simple as that. Fact.

Saying that it surely "has the least impressive line-up", or that "75% of the good games on the Cube are multi platform", is clearly mindless. opinionated bollocks of the sort I'd expect from Free Stephen or Haribokart.
