Game's No.1 Xmas Present...

...one thing is for sure... the Nintendo has the least impressive line-up of games of all the current consoles.

I smell some Nintendo-breath huffing en puffing down this reporter's neck...

That's asking for it. The LEAST impressive? Why?

Simple, the 75% of the good games on the Cube are multi platform (and those are usually better on the Box).

Well, I have 38 GameCube games, all of which I think are good, of which a maximum of 5 (less than 14%) are available for the PS2 or XBox. Which means that 15% of good Gamecube games, at minimum, equals 33 games, which means there are 220 good Gamecube Games in total.

Wow - that should be enough god games to keep most people busy!!!

Plus I've got several more exclusive titles on their way this month that I suspect will again be good.

On the other hand I have 9 PS2 games (and I've owned my PS2 for twice as long at least), 3 of which (over 33%) are multi-platform.

I don't have an XBox - it doesn't have any games that attract me enough.

I'm not trying to say that the Gamecube has the best games, it simply has the most games that are attractive to me. Simple as that. Fact.

Saying that it surely "has the least impressive line-up", or that "75% of the good games on the Cube are multi platform", is clearly mindless. opinionated bollocks of the sort I'd expect from Free Stephen or Haribokart.

The only difference between your post and mine is that you add "IMO"

But you are probably 2 dense to see that ...

Well, clearly you're too dense to realise that that's the whole point I was making.

Sure sure, but one thing is for sure... the Nintendo has the least impressive line-up of games of all the current consoles.

"one thing is for sure"

That is not stating something as one's own opinion.

You were stating something as a fact. I was stating something as opinion, to show how opinionated you post, stated as fact, was.

I have a GC and PS2. On my GC i have around 25 games. On my PS2 around 10-15. I really dont find much stuff on the PS2 to be that great unfourtunatly. Most of my GC games are good, except maybe one or two.

I wouldnt mind an xbox - mainly for live. But there really is not one single game that i want on it. Ive got Halo for the PC and I can buy Splinter Cell for it too - although ive played the PS2 version somewhat already.

Ii had getting into discussions with blindfolded Nintendo fanboys... they're so overly defensive and nitpicky.

But anyway... 38 good Cube games? Do me a favor, and take the time to name them... I can't even get to 10...

Boutros, stop trolling.

Not everyone likes cube games. Not everyone like Xbox games. End of.

I have an Xbox and I haven't found a SINGLE game I like on it. I love GC games.

So what?

Hey, I'm staying on topic here:

That news article said that the Cube had the most impressive game line-up.

I beg to differ.

Isn't that what this thread is about?

I'm be quite impressed (and worried) if you could list 10 games that I think are good.

I don't know if I'd confidently be able to list any games you think are good.

I also fail to see what me listing 38 Cube games that I think are good would prove. Other than there are 38 Cube games that I think are good, and even with them listed you'd still just have to be taking my word for it that I think they are good, so quite frankly I can't be bothered.

Oh, or had you missed that I said they were games that I think are good?

Luke, let me clarify myself a bit more, because I get the feeling you're not quite catching my drift here...

The article that was referred to at the beginning of this thread claimed that the Cube had the most impressive line-up of games on the market.

Everything, and I mean Everything, indicates that this is not the case.

Quantity of titles per platform, "professional" reviews of all respectable gaming magazines, number of consoles sold ect. point out that the opposite is in fact the case.

You are, of course, entitled to an opinion which does no not match these facts.

It has nothing to do with taste.

It has everything to do with taste, nothing to do with facts.

Quantity of titles is irrelevant unless you can afford them all. 99% of gamers cannot.

Reviews are not fact, they are opinion, the same as yours, mine or anyone elses.

Number of consoles sold can be affected just as much if not more by marketing than any lineup of games.

Which console you find has the best lineup of games depends on what you want to play. It is not a 'fact' that one console has a better selection than any other.

Blimey, go away for 4 hours and all out war seems to have been declared against someone who has an opinion that doesn't have a big N stamped on it.

As for the DC comment [and Jack I'm looking in your direction] my point is that the DC was pushed the Xmas before it expired. Yes the DC has some good titles but not enough new good ones were released to attract mainstream fans. Hence no matter how much of a push it got it still fell flat on it's face. [by the way I have a DC so don't accuse me of DC hating]

IMO GAME have possibly decided to push it as they realise it is bringing in the smallest revenue [for them not Nintendo] after the price cut and are now clearing the backstock. So to me that says that mainstream games shops support may start to dry up ergo that says to me this could be the last xmas for it. I have 10 games for my NGC which is a good thing. All system exclusives. Same for my PS2. I have more titles for my Xbox because it has the best versions of multi-format titles.

But for anyone who claims that the NGC will go on for longer than another 12 months tell me this: what major Nintendo/third party titles are on the horizon that could attract major mainstream punters to buy it? After all they have already unleashed all the updates of their major franchises, SMK:DD, SMS, MP, FZX etc. and I cannot think of any new ones that are due soon.

Unlikely. They would naturally push the console that brings in the MOST revenue.

They don't have 'backstock' the cube bundles are selling like hot cake. I visited Game on saturday and heard several people ask for the MK bundle only be be turned away 'Sorry. they are long gone and I don't know when we are getting more stock'.

People turned on Boutos because he was presenting a taste issue as fact. I would have said the same if he was taking about any other console.

For them to say they don't know when they are getting any in says to me that either Nintendo don't seem to have the confidence[or the funds] to up production [HIGHLY UNLIKELY] or that their buyers are unwilling to commit to buy any large supply of units due to the profits margins being a lot less on the NGC than the XB [MS have the sterling to give larger profits to the outlets] or PS2 [ALready established large user base so production costs are lower] [MORE LIKELY].

Couple this with the already public issues most MAJOR publishers have with the Nintendo way of doing business and under-selling of their titles that are released on the NGC I would say the end is quite near for the NGC [iMO of course].

Oh please.

The damn thing is selling well. Why is that so hard to accept?

What I cannot accept is that people are cooing over GAME for putting this as their number one present for XMAS when this is the same chain of stores that changed nearly all their facings for the NGC from 3 facings to one. It's a marketing ploy to get people to buy all their BACKSTOCK [just because one store says they are sold out JP doesn't mean all stores are sold out :D] I bet if you go back to that store this week they will tell you they have plenty in stock.

First they are desperate to get rid of stock. When I point out they DON'T have stocks it turns out they don't have the confidence to order enough. You aren't making sense, you obviously have a point you want to make.

Of COURSE they'll get more stock in. But the bundles ARE selling out, they ARE hard to get.

So, if the buyers don't buy anymore stock from the suppliers where do they get their stock supplied from? Thats right, the backstock from the other stores that do have plenty left over. They get them sent from one store to another to plug the gaps until all the backstock is gone. Anyone with a basic knowledge of retail knows that.

EDIT: Oh and I don't have a point per se I just like to discuss/engage in debate with youse guys is all as thats what it's here for isn't it?

Didn't anyone else notice that they puffed the Cube, but then forgot to mention that it has its own version of Prince of Persia?

Still, I didn't believe them when one of the big cheeses said that they supported minority titles, but it looks like they're at least attempting to make good on that claim. Still being a nintendo fanboy (too much childhood conditioning - sorry) I can only feel thankful that Game are doing this.

There is no 'backstock' the machine is (finally) selling very well.
