After winning the league with Lazio I moved to Liverpool where I repeated the fest; narrowly beating Manure to the title. Then it was off to LA Galaxy to earn a title there - and now coming home to Watford where we are about to crash into the Premier League.

I decided to give this a try.

Is there any any way to see who is considered a top player in your team? There is surprisingly little info about players in your team, who you need to fight for the starting position, etc. Are these things in the game at all because they are important in a player's life.

Ten years into my career and it was off to Dortmund to tackle the last of the major European leagues having secured titles in England, Spain, Italy and, er, Holland. 13 wins on the trot led me to expect an undefeated season, but it all went a bit to pot after that. Still took the league and cup double though, thanks to a fine performance from myself. Yeah! 86 goals in 40 games (17 hat-tricks) with 26 assists to boot, Messi and Ronaldo can get fucked. And I've still got lower division no-marks having offers accepted for me

Some of the reviews for this must drive you mad.

"Best app I've played, spent hours and hours on it, should be free though" 3/5

"Make it free for 2 days and I'd give 5 stars :(" 2/5

I really don't know what people expect from this, it's a £2 app not a £30 PC management sim. I dread to think the amount of hours I've put in, it's fucking fantastic.

Obligatory boring anecdote:

I was wallowing around for about 5 years at first trying to get my first Conf North team promoted (Corby) then finally went to the first Championship team willing to take a punt on me (Carlisle). Got promoted via the playoffs in my first season then finished 6th in the Premiership which I thought was quite an achievement. Next season was a bit of a horror show - second-season syndrome - so I went up to Rangers in search of some easy silverware to fill up my virtual cabinet. Had an absolute 'mare in the league but finally won a cup! Rangers were clearly below my lofty ambitions so when Real Madrid came knocking I joined them and my all-conquering team have just swept the league by 14 points and beat Barca 6-0 in the cup final. My 10th season apparently!

I think my next project will be to drag my beloved Watford to Premiership glory. As long as it takes. :hmm:

Also, I know this directly contradicts my first paragraph, but it would be nice to have a kind of 'history' page with a breakdown by season. I love that shit in Football Manager. Soz.

Sorry, there is no player data at all in the mobile version, and NSS5 uses a kind of semi-mmo database (ie your player data appears in everyone else's game). I decided to ditch real-life data with NSS5 for various reasons. For one, it's impossible keeping it up to date, and two it's a nightmare simulating the careers of thousands of AI players.

Version 1.1. will go live on Flash and Android this week (and hopefully on iOS too). It includes the World Cup and the Euros with full qualifying campaigns. The Africa Cup of Nations and Copa America are also in. On the club side we have the Champions League, Europa League and Copa Libertadores. That should give you something else to aim for. :D

A detailed stat history is on my to do list.

Some of the reviews are infuriating. Like this one. Fun game - only worth a dollar - 2 stars. Wanker.

That is bullshit. I've just submitted a suitably gushing review (all true, mind) to even it up a bit, hopefully it'll show up soon.

P.S. I have run out of +'s but thanks for the continued updates!

Cheers mate, much appreciated. :)

By the way, I welcome any suggestions for new match action sequences, particularly tackling or dribbling.

Few ideas:

Crossing, doing - give the player the ball at an angle all but impossible to score from, with players in and around the box to put away the player's cross, and opposition to get in the way as per.

Crossing, receiving - I can understand why you never get chances as it is in the area aside from penalties, but maybe crosses could fly in, and I really mean fly in. Close range, select where you're putting it... Then the ball flies across the screen and really tests your reactions.

Crossing, defending - As above. Own goals possible if not careful.

Last ditch defending - Heroic blocks off the line. Like above, the ball whizzes across the screen and you're at risk of maybe even putting it in your own net. This and the one above would be particularly welcome because as it stands, there's no way of stopping your team inexplicably leaking 5 goals to a team generally much worse than you.

Something to make penalties trickier. Golf game style power bar?

I read the first half of this thread, played the Flash version for about 5 minutes and then bought the Android version. Just gonna nip off to the bog at work to play it.

There's no version confusion on Androind is there? It's just "New Star Soccer" available, right? Version 1.09b?

Yeah, that's the one. I decided to drop the "5" as it's the first version of NSS on mobiles, and I didn't fancy adding "mobile" or "handheld" to the title.

Corners is requested quite a lot, so that's probably top of the list for match action. Something like this...

I'll add to the love in, this is one of my, and my sons, most played on iphone. Its induced the dreaded work bog pins and needles more than once.

Its perfectly suited to the phone and anybody leaving a review stating its not value for money is frankly an idiot - fine if they don't like it but don't say it should be free.

Hello siread! I think your game is excellent. Here is some feedback, I hope you enjoy it.

I only just managed to get the '10 passes in one match' achievement even though I've definitely done it before - I had 12 on the stats sheet in a previous match but nothing popped up. Unless it has to be 10 exactly I guess.

Also there's been a few occasions when I've made a successful pass that my team-mate has scored a goal from, but it doesn't register as a pass or a goal or anything - this is always when there's an opposing player very close to the receiver. It only happens very occasionally though.

My most important bit of feedback now follows. Can you make the little mannies run round in circles after they score a goal? Instead of just standing there stock still. Maybe they could flap their little arms about a bit. I'd bloody love that thanks.

Seconded. If it could also cut to a black and white shot Charles Charlie Charles fashion 8)

I've had that as well. A blinding volley into the top corner. I just blamed the ref for it.

I've just finished reading the whole thread, so, apologies if this has passed me by...but are international call ups in? If not, will they be?

I saw someone ask the question a few pages back, but don't recall an answer.

The big thing I'm missing is goals from inside the area, scrappy things. My goals are like a non-stop highlight reel - I've scored none from 5 yards but a good few from 50 yards. Maybe just using the same system, but with the ball moving a lot faster on screen? "REVELL gets a chance in the area" kinda thing?

It's my most played app in a long-time though. I bought some starbux the other day, just cos the main game was too cheap.

The answer is ten posts above...

Loving the iOS version, and it seems like it works as I am temted to go for the PC version now, since I don't really use my iPod much these days.

Or every so often when you score a blinder, have a Chris Kamara image appear with the words "Unbelievable Jeff". :)

I would also like this. And to be able to see my little man run to the crowd waving his shirt around his head or sliding on his knees. Or a goal celebration mini game where you try and impress the fans.

There's a billion little things Si could do with this and they all SEEM awesome. The danger is that some of them actually won't be and that if you add too many things it removes the "A match takes 5 minutes so I'll just have ONE more" thing.

Hmm, after two seasons and one promotion 8 premiership teams want me. I'm sticking with Weston Super Mare through thick and thin, though.

Two of my mates bought this yesterday on my recommendation, one iPhone, one Android. What's my cut? ;)

The iPhone guy says he doesn't like it, but, honestly, it sounds like he's just terrible at it. The Android guy, like me, is very happy.

Bought on Android last night on a personalr ecommendation. It's a very nice game. ended up playing from 8pm to 11:30 and only stopped then because Imy phone ran out of juice. :)

I like a lot. Could sometimes do with the colours being a bit clearer on screen, I know your little men shout for the ball so you gett o see them but sometimes I'd like to see more clearly. Only had one change of strip and that was when I was playing a team in the exact same colour as me.

But it's a small gripe for an otherwise excellent game, well done Si! I hope your sales mean you can sustain the progress on this. Good luck.

Ah-ha, my iPhone pal that disliked it stuck it on his iPad and now loves it. Guess he just couldn't handle the little fiddly arrow on the smaller screen.

Three mates have now bought it, but that's pretty much all my game-friendly mates.

If you take a moment pregame to check the strips, you can hit the arrows between them to cycle through more combos. I like to think of it as choosing the special money-spinning third kit, though I'm not sure Hayes really have one.
