Anyone else having issues with this game hanging?? Been playing(pretty much constantly, tooooo addictive) for the past couple of days. Sat down to play this evening and after a couple of games whenever I click play it just hangs. I tried quiting out of it and going back in but still the same but now it has reduced all my health, tried topping up the health again and selected play, same thing happened. Quit out again and back in and health low, money still taken for previously bought health drink. Odd. I'm devasted, year 7, playing for Liverpool, won the cup and just got all my skills, bar free kicks, up to 60. Only thing I needed to do was get rid of that pain in the ass bird. :)

Has this been pulled from Android Market/Google Play?

Should be back up very soon. Google suspended my account because I hadn't filled in a trading address. I sent it to them immediately but they decided to wait 24 hrs to re-enable it. Lost a full days sales. :hmm:

Edit: It's up again now. :)

The Android version still has a bit of ironing out to be done. Make sure you are using version 1.05 but there will be further updates as soon as I get hold of an HTC phone to do some more tests.

I loved games like Footballer of the Year back in the day, and to me this seems like FotY 2012 which is ACE. Played the flash game first as the £1.99 Android price scared me, but after 15 minutes I realised this is how my Speccy budget gaming days were built and snapped out of it. I'd be interested to know if it's doing well enough at that price as I've often read that getting people to pay for stuff on Android is a problem, I know it's cheaper on Apple with ingames purchase but is that how it has to be on that platform to be competitive? If more games were this good and not the cheap throwaway rubbish that's currently clogging up my phone then I'd be happier that's for sure, but whether that's a viable model in this depressingly attention-span free times I've no idea.

One other very impressive thing - "This game does not require any additional permissions", which might be the first thing ever I've downloaded for Android that's said that. Is this true, it does nothing and needs nothing? I don't care enough to even try to comprehend what half the permissions other Android stuff asks for, but it makes me wonder why anything else needs to ask for anything that this seemingly doesn't.

There's no security on the game whatsoever (just couldn't be arsed with it) so I guess that's why it says that. Selling about 100 a day on Android so that's pretty good. iOS sales are much better, mainly due to in-game currency purchases.

So if games don't need all these permissions then why does everything under the sun ask for all and sundry. Mental. Anyway, I wonder if Apple sales are better not just due to in game purchases as such but because people are more conditioned to buying stuff on there in general? Although they're more used to buying at 59p or whatever in the first place too... still, I'd rather pay the two quid and get what I got, if it was small entry fee then more above and beyond I might not have bothered but I guess the modern world doesn't think like that :(

And one minor criticism I forgot to mention! On the flash version it seems a lot easier with mouse to gauge the strength of shot because you're using the pointer, but a finger on the smartphone and it's full power after you move a few mm from the ball and for anything less I find my finger so close to the ball I can barely see the arrow. And I'm not even a complete fat bastard either. Any chance of reducing the sensitivity, or making it an option perhaps?

Any chance of super skill/high risk volleys? Ball comes in fast and you either hit it first time for mega power shot - yet more likely to miss?

Could be fun trying to hit em - leave it and no penalty but cock it up and you look like a tit - team/fans/manager annoyed...but blaze it in for a huge bonus.

Maybe turn then screen upside down for overhead kicks? (disorient player)

The iOS update should be up by tomorrow (it's in review at last) so let me know if that solves it or not.

I have already started a new career, was having withdrawal symptoms, if I get anymore issues I'll let you know. Great little game btw, but you already knew that! ;)

My brother bought this at my recommendation, and I believe you might get two more sales from Canada soon, if the number of people watching me play over my shoulder then asking me about the game is anything to go by.

Great stuff.

Make more of Canada buy it to Si can do a hockey version ;)

Seriously though, took the plunge and I am very impressed, a great companion to the main game and so addictive, 5 minutes is easily turned into a couple of hours.

3g on 4.2.1

Not the name as I've tried a few as well as a few countries. Press the green tick - goes to 'please wait' loading screen for a few seconds then goes black and then back to apps.

Just downloaded the update - unfortunatly, it doesn't make career mode work for me as the ap won't load at all now - sad face.

Tried a delete and re-install, but loading screen comes up and then crashes.

Sad face

Good news.

I shut down the phone completely and then it let me into the app. First attempt to play career failed, but I tried again and seems to be all good. Played for a bit, saved, gone back in, etc.

Happily addicted,

Not sure if this has been reported (have screenshots if required) but had a weird bug in the Scottish Premier League earlier (as the mighty St Mirren); Celtic won the league with about 6 games to spare, but after receiving that message the league reset back to 0 despite there being fixtures to go. After completing the remaining fixtures, I then got a message that St Mirren were promoted (?).

Anyway, other than that this game is ludicrously addictive and I hate (love) you siread for making such a life-ruinous game.

Yup. Just needs a wee tweak to not reset the points after the split with 5 games to go. A bit annoying. I was about 5 points behind the Gers in 2nd place at the split and although technically there was 5 games to go Gers were the champions.

Might be my last season in the SPL anyway. Going to look for a move down south as SPL teams just cant meet my wage demands :quote:

Apart from that, i've had no issues. Cracking little game.

Spotted an error last night.

I played the ball to a team mate, and his shot was fumbled by the keeper and just crept over the line. The game treated it as a missed chance rather than a goal.

I can't remember if this cost me anything because we were terrible last season. :P

I'm in a bit of a rut.

Moved to a new team and had a few bad games, now everyone hates me.

The boss refuses to pick me for games so I don't earn my wage, can't afford NRG drinks. Any effort I spend on upping my relationship with the boss is quickly lost in games where I'm a sub and only allowed to make a couple of passes at the end of a game. I come on, get a couple of successful passes and then I'm back to zero relationship with my boss as my performance was sub-par.

Seems like a vicious circle and not sure what I can do about it. My relationship stats fall much faster than I can raise them.

Forget the boss, he's not the problem. Focus on building your team relationship so when you do get a game (and you will), you've got enough opportunities to impress. When you get the ball, look for the pass unless the shot is by far the better option, team mates respond well to passes, assists and general unselfish play.

The knock on effects of this will be that your performances will improve, your boss gets happier, the fans start to like you, and everything falls into place. :)

Something to maybe consider on future versions is having multiple passes in a passage of play - perhaps with the player being in the middle of it?

In fact, let's take this idea a little further; you've said that you may include the option to be either a defender or midfielder in the future, right? So in order to make those different experiences I think they should have slightly different mechanics.

For a midfielder, how about this: CPU Player A has the ball at the start of the sequence. You have a short amount of time to run into space before CPU A passes the ball; you then have the opportunity to pass to CPU Player B. You could also introduce corners, with the player taking the corner and a similar mechanic - expect it is CPU Players A and B that are looking for space, and you have to find them.

For defenders, interceptions would be more prominent, but you'd also need to find a way to make tackling fun and workable. Also, you could have corners work in reverse (i.e. you need to pick a man to mark).

What do you think? (I'd expect a consultant credit ;))

I scored yesterday and it didn't give a goal (missed chance). Had the same with an assist too.

No problems otherwise.

EDIT: Oh, and the icons and backgrounds sometimes screw up after I buy something (I think it's that anyway). Fixed by quitting out anyway.

I will fix the goal thing, and I'm still trying to work out why that image problem happens on some Android phones.

What do you guys think of the match ratings at the moment. A lot of people over on Kongregate complain that if you get 2 chances and make 2 passes then they should get a good match rating. Admittedly they probably haven't realised that your number of chances are dependent on the team relationship, but it's a valid argument I guess.
