But my favorite boss ever has to be the final boss on Sonic 2. Everything about it is just brilliant, metal sonic to start you off, then a huge Robotnik who fires missles at you. Add the music and you have the best boss ever!

The End Boss in Gitaroo Man of course, as it is so emotional and the song is so amazing in conjunction with what's happening and what's happened.. sends shivers over my body.

Gannondorf in OOT becaue the whole sequence is so amazing with the run up the -spoiler- the -spoiler- in the fire, the race, and the -spoiler-

Final Sephiroph in FF7, or whatever boss prompts the Sephiroph der der der der!!! music. only because your heart is pumping that you are finally at the end of the gammmme.

Nelo Angelo in Devil May Cry stands out- for the sheer insane pace of dodging/sword-striking/deflecting.

Seeing as I've just discovered it for myself, Rez's bosses are some of the most stunning I have ever encountered. In particular the first and the fourth are the best out of the ones I have unlocked so far.

Probably Lord Galcian in Skies. Frustratingly difficult but really strategic at the same time, set at the top of Galcians Flagship, its a pretty cool locale too.

Other than that i'd have to say Starwolf in Lylat wars, I guess you could class that as a boss fight, and the worm in Link to the Past.

It wasn't so much the boss itself that I liked, I just remember at the time thinking it was great that instead of Kamek using his magic to make the boss huge, he made you small.

I was easily impressed when I was younger.

Most of the boss battles in MGS2 were pretty good I thought. Especially Olga on the extreme difficulty.

Metroid Prime in its second state, when it goes invis and you have to use X RAY, looks like something out of a alien flick...

And a close second, the last boss on moonwalker on the megadrive - where (from completely out of the blue) the game turns into a space sim and you have to dog fight mr big in space.

the best bit was when you beat the boss you went to the bottom of the screen and were trasnsported out of his ass [you even heard the warp pipe noise] and you appear out his ass. classic!

Vulcan Raven on MGS - Extreme difficulty. No radar, you have to keep checking first-person view to see where he is, second-guess where he's going to go. Tough stuff but frantic and very satisfying to beat.

And of course Rex.
